    This may be a duplicate complaint but I didnt receive a confirmation so I am filing again. The company is an ******** Company which is why I am seeking resolution through the BB&B. I volunteered with Maximo Nivel to teach English is ***** ****. The project required a fee of $575 and the purchase of my own plane tickets. I eagerly anticipated this event. The program specifically states that you do not need to know Spanish to volunteer. I contend this is absolutely incorrect. A basic level of conversation Spanish is definitely needed. The company, program, programs orientation, and travel advisories (local and world wide) also specifically state to not be alone at night in *****. Yet, the placement the company put me in resulted in exactly that where I found myself the victim of an attempted mugging, alone without the ability to communication, lost with an irate taxi driver that I couldnt communicate with, and fearful of what else may happen. The events traumatized me and triggered my PTSD. I have enclosed email correspondence in which the umbrella companys representative agrees with me about my safety concerns. Maximo Nivel is directly responsible for the events as they placed me in an assignment that went against stated safety advisorys which left me alone and vulnerable at night. I requested the program fee of $575 back and was offered a credit to be used in the future. That is not acceptable. The events on Monday night traumatized me so severely that I made arrangements to return to the states immediately incurring additional flight costs of $840. I request that both of these costs be refunded / paid to me. Thank you.

    I am filing this with the BB&B as Maximo Nivel is an ******** company with locations in North America, South *******, and ***************. I took part in a volunteer project with Maximo Nivel in *****, ****. The project consisted of a fee to participate which would also provide for your ************* the expense of an airline ticket and smaller miscellaneous expenses. I was not prepared by the company for the experience. The website clearly states no Spanish required. Also advisorys, orientation, and the website information itself states to not be alone at night in the dark. My placement that first day included exactly that where I was alone, unable to communicate, had an attempted mugging, and a lost taxi driver which triggered my **** from a past event. After much deliberation throughout the night I felt my safety was and would continue to be compromised as I did not know the language and the triggering event. I withdrew from the program and requested the program fee back. It was denied. I am now requesting the program fee back and additional airline ticket back as my first round trip was non-refundable. I was and am extremely traumatized by this event. The company denied my request for the return of the fee and instead offered a credit which i do not find acceptable. The amount I am requesting is $575 (program fee) and $840 (airline flight). If anyone has ever suffered a violent attack they realize the **** that accompanies that. My **** was triggered Monday night and could have been prevented. Never should a non Spanish volunteer be left alone in a country with minimal English speakers and never should a volunteer be left alone in the dark especially in a city /country where it there are advisorys and curfews. Thank you. I have attached my correspondence.
