The owner of the funeral has stated to me that my family was not supposed to contact any insurance agency to gather any covered cost of a deceased relative. He stated that in contacting the life insurance company, that it triggered a claim and now he would have to wait for a death certificate in order to receive a payout. To make matters worse, we would "have to pay now" to move forward with the services. Which is incorrect and deceptive information. ********************** does not initiate a claim solely based on anyone calling to report a deceased individual and would like to gather information on moving forward. **********, the owner of the funeral home was very aggressive, impatient and disrespectful when attemtping to clarify and exchange information.

My husband passed away on 09/05/2023 at *********************** in ***** Florida. We are from ***********, ** and not familiar with the area. The hospital said to ****** funeral homes in the area to get into contact with. Florida Funeral Home and Crematorium was the first to come up. I called them and the same day, signed the contract paperwork and paid. Since they took my payment and received everything from me, I cannot get anyone to let me know the status of my husband being sent home. I have called and received nasty responses from the receptionist. It's appalling that someone in this line of work could act the way that she did. I have texted the number for a status update and have not received a response. I have sent emails: 09/13, 09/18, 09/27 and 09/30 to find out the status of my husband. I have not received not one response. I called the week of the 18th to find out if he had been cremated yet and was told after a long annoyed sigh......no....we will get to it when we get to it. I have services here in ***** on October 7th and I do not know if I will have my husband here or not. No one can let me know if he has been mailed or not. I also cannot find out from them if the death certificate has been issued. I paid for it in the funeral packaged, but had to go ahead and order ANOTHER one and pay again to that I can get the ball rolling on things that need to be taken care of here in *****. I cannot move forward with bank accounts, life insurance, ect without a death certificate. The funeral home has had the certificate and still has not mailed it - hence why I went ahead and ordered one directly.
