Owner of Concrete Cowboy was contacted Fall of 2024 and asked if he could give a quote to repair sections of cracked concrete in the driveway. The sections had been broken due to outriggers on trucks that did tree removal. There was a total of 9 sections to be replaced. The owner came and assessed the damage. He sent a quote to tear out, remove and replace approx. 680 sq. feet of concrete. The owner said the concrete he was going to lay would be "3,000 psi” concrete. Late November 2024 the owner’s crew started the job to remove the broken concrete sections and replace with new concrete. It took the crew about a week to complete the job that went into early December. After only 3 months maybe less, the 4th section and 8th section had visible 20-inch cracks on the left-side corner and right-side corner. The owner was called March 3rd, 2025. Owner said he would come by and look at the cracks the following week. On Saturday March 8th, 2025, he came to the house. He said that big heavy trucks must have come up our driveway and that they caused the cracks of the new concrete sections. I told him that there have not been any big heavy trucks on our driveway since the job was finished. He said he was not going to come back and repair the cracks. As the owner he should have ensured that each section he laid was going to be as strong as the existing concrete that has been there for 20+ years. The concrete slabs he laid were obviously not “3,000 psi” and/or not as thick as the existing undisturbed slabs. In addition, 3 weeks after the job was done, (2) approx. 80-pound old concrete slab chunks were found behind some trees and bushes just 20 feet from the side of the driveway. For the owner not to repair these freshly laid 3-month-old cracked concrete slabs and leave without taking with him the old concrete chunks is a display of extreme laziness and total lack of concern to his customers, after he gets our money.

Concrete Cowboys appreciates the opportunity to formally address this matter. To be clear: at no point was any guarantee made, stated, or implied that the concrete would be crack-free. It is an industry-accepted fact that all concrete has the potential to crack, regardless of PSI, thickness, or installation method. No contractor, reputable or otherwise, can make such a guarantee.
The concrete supplied and installed for this project was 3,000 PSI as specified. Attached is the delivery receipt conclusively verifying this. The homeowner has not provided any independent third-party testing or documentation to the contrary, nor has any evidence been presented regarding slab thickness discrepancies.
It was explained during the March 8th, 2025 site visit that external factors — including heavy vehicular traffic — can contribute to concrete cracking. The assertion that no such traffic has accessed the property is neither verifiable nor consistent with the realities of modern parcel and service deliveries. Regardless, cracking in concrete is a known and inherent risk, one that is unrelated to workmanship or material quality in many cases.

Regarding the leftover debris, this was an oversight and remains an issue Concrete Cowboys is willing to address by removing the pieces upon request.
It must be stated plainly: there is no practical, long-term, or aesthetically consistent repair for surface cracks of this nature. The demand for a full refund is entirely without merit. This is a routine, industry-recognized occurrence and does not constitute a defect in workmanship or a breach of contract. The decision to threaten legal action and publicly disparage the company over a known and unavoidable risk is both unwarranted and irresponsible.
Concrete Cowboys stands firmly behind the quality of its work, its longstanding reputation, and its adherence to professional standards.

It is important to be unequivocal: cracks in concrete slabs are normal and do not constitute defective workmanship. Demanding a full refund under these circumstances is not only unreasonable, it is entirely without merit. Furthermore, the act of publicly disparaging this company while threatening legal action over a routine and acknowledged aspect of concrete work is both baseless and irresponsible.

Concrete Cowboys will not entertain further unfounded demands and considers this matter closed, with the sole remaining offer being debris removal upon request.

      Sincerely,

      Mac McCrory

      Complaint: 23149530

I am rejecting this response. I'm sorry the complaint came across as wanting a full refund for the service rendered. I knew Concrete Cowboys would not agree to that. However, I was wanting Concrete Cowboys to come a repair the sections of concrete that are in dispute. Mac of Concrete Cowboys has no idea about trucks driving on my driveway. And lets say they have driven on it. The concrete he poured should be able to sustain them driving on it. You mean to tell me that I would need to stop them from delivering items to my house because he did not pour the concrete correctly? That in itself tells me that he does not have confidence in his abilities to pour concrete. Mac has not tried one time to contact us and ask if he could settle this in a business like way. Instead he has resorted to avoiding phone calls and not returning the initial call I made to him. If he would come back and repair the concrete to the correct specifications and make it right then I would be satisfied. I will wait to hear his response before I move further.

      Sincerely,

      Business Response

      Date: 05/07/2025

      To the Better Business Bureau,

Concrete Cowboys submits this final statement in response to the complainant’s continued misrepresentations.

Factually and unequivocally, Mac, the owner of Concrete Cowboys, personally met with the complainant's partner during a site inspection in March 2025. At that time, he walked the property, reviewed the areas of concern, and discussed the potential contributing factors to the reported cracking. Any suggestion that Mr. Mac avoided communication or refused contact is entirely false and defamatory in nature.

Additionally, the complainant’s characterization of discussions regarding vehicle traffic and concrete durability is a willful misrepresentation. The original damage that necessitated this work was caused by the improper distribution of weight from heavy equipment. This fact was fully known to the complainant at the time the work was requested. To now imply that any cracking occurring thereafter is solely attributable to faulty workmanship or improper materials — in the absence of any independent verification — is baseless.

Concrete Cowboys performed the work in strict accordance with the contracted scope, including the use of verified 3,000 PSI concrete, as documented through supplier delivery records. No warranties or guarantees against cracking were promised or implied, as such assurances are neither customary nor realistic in this industry due to the inherent nature of concrete as a material.

To date, the complainant has submitted no credible, independent evidence of substandard materials, improper workmanship, or contractual breach. Concrete Cowboys stands fully behind the work performed and maintains that no corrective action is warranted or required.

Given the defamatory tone of the complaint and the complainant’s false public assertions, Concrete Cowboys expressly reserves all legal rights and remedies, including but not limited to claims for defamation, business interference, and recovery of legal fees, should these baseless allegations persist in public or formal forums.

As a matter of courtesy alone, our offer to remove any remaining debris remains available, though no further concessions or remedial work will be offered. This matter is considered formally closed from our position.

Concrete Cowboys requests that the BBB record this response as final and reflect our position accordingly in its records.

      Sincerely,
      Mac McCrory

      Complaint: 23149530

I am rejecting this response because: Concrete Cowboys that is owned by Mac McCrory was notified March 3, 2025 about the cracks in the driveway that he had repaired. He had repaired the driveway 3 months prior. He informed me that he would be out in a few days to inspect the cracks. In the meantime he asked if I would send him pictures of each crack. Pictures were sent and no response. Finally Mac did respond and said he had not received the photos. So they were sent a second time. Again he denied receiving the pictures. So the pictures were then sent a third time from a different source of delivery. He denied receiving them again. Therefore, he was asked when he would be able to come look at the cracks in person. He informed me that he would be out in a day or two to assess the situation. On March the 4th he was called to see when he would be able to come out so one of us would be there to talk to him. He did not have a definite day or time. On March 8, 2025 he came to the house to look at the cracks (without letting us know beforehand). He spoke to my other half and immediately informed him that the cracks were a result of heavy traffic driving on it. He has no idea if heavy traffic had been on it or not. Lets say a UPS truck etc. had driven on it, the concrete he poured would not be thick enough to withstand the weight? If traffic can not drive on it then he needs to perfect the thickness of the concrete so traffic can drive on it. Anyway, when I was notified that Mac had been to the house on the 8th and what his remarks were I called him at 11:56 AM to discuss his remarks because I could not believe what he had said. Mac answered my call and said that he was under a car and would have to call me back to discuss the issue further. At 5:05 PM on the 8th I called him back because he had not returned my call. He did not answer. I figured he recognized my number and did not want to talk so I borrowed a friends phone to call him. Again he did not answer. As of this writing on the 12th day of May 2025 Concrete Cowboys has not tried to call or communicate with us about this issue. He did not inform us at the beginning about the weight or issue of cracking like he seems to think he did or that we should have known that. As for false public assertions there have not been any made. The truth as to how we have been treated is all that has been said. If he cared about his business and name he would have contacted us and tried to make it right. Also the big chunks of concrete his crew left was not professional. He said "as a courtesy he would come and remove the chunks." They should have never been thrown in the bush line on my property and left to begin with.  The cleanup should have been inspected by him when he came back to pick up his machinery that he left for days blocking the entrance to our property. From the beginning all we have asked for is for him to make his mistake right. He has not answered my calls or returned the call he promised on the 8th when he was under the car. He knows he did not do our job correctly and he does not want to make it right. If his concrete can not stand delivery trucks driving on it then he definitely needs to learn how to make it stronger before he pours more concrete. He is not giving good customer service

      Sincerely,
