On 2/20/23 my vehicle was towed from a New Smyrna Beach public lot. The tow was not reported to the police department. Upon arrival I questioned the location of the vehicle when they took possession, time they took possession and call number of their report to the police (legally required to occur within 1 hour of a tow company taking possession of your vehicle) This company had a line of teenagers waiting out of the door with cash in hand while elite towing threatened to keep their cars overnight if anyone questioned the situation and then increased prices for those who did attempt to speak up regarding the legality of the tow. I called the police and they stated all I could do was file a civil suit since I too handed over the undocumented cash and had no proof this situation even occurring. I was told by elite towing I could leave the property if I wanted to be a ‘B’ about it and question him. I witnessed the biggest fraudulent scheme of undocumented cash exchanging hands and extreme vulnerability of beach going patrons. This company is extremely shady while knowing there is nothing you can do about it. I handed over $205 to have my vehicle released which was being held without any documentation of wrong doing while being parked in a public vacant lot.

Unfortunately the vehicle was NOT parked in a public lot. The mentioned vehicle was parked at *** ******** *** which is privately owned. We send all of our towed vehicles into the Volusia county dispatch center via our digital dispatching platform. The customer was also given a receipt for the impoundment.
