3 weeks ago, I moved from ******* to ** with Southern Cross. They arrived at my new apartment building 2 hours after the agreed upon time and started unloading the truck. I look inside the truck as it is opened and see that my furniture is piled in a reckless fashion without having been wrapped (maybe 1 or 2 pieces were half-wrapped) and I begin to notice the intensive damage to my belongings: countless tears on my brand new (very expensive) velvet couch and brand new white linen king *** frame, 4 West Elm wooden chairs totally scratched, a queen *** all scratched, my king *** spring and white ottoman totally ripped from underneath, photography canvases scratched and dented in the back, a nightstand and standing lamp all marked up/dented. Additionally, upon arriving at my destination, the two people they contracted to help her unload my belongings in SC started started fighting with her regarding receiving payment prior to completing work. This went on for about 2 hours, during which no one did anything. My 65 year old mother was unloading the truck and bringing things up to my apartment to keep things moving. After they resolved their issues, the movers 'finished' the job by piling the remaining ***es in the hallway outside my apartment and leaving, without bringing anything inside. So my 65 year old mother and I were left to bring 20ish heavy ***es inside. Furniture assembly and re-assembly were part of my agreement, however, the movers told me they didn't have time and left without re-assembling my furniture. The owner's daughter then spent another 2 hours in my apartment trying to find additional contractors to re-assemble the furniture with no luck before she too left. I had nowhere to sleep for 2 days and had to hire my own handymen to re-assemble my furniture.**** manipulated me into thinking he was going to do the right thing and file an insurance claim to compensate me for my damages and for the services that were left unfulfilled.

    Better Business Bureau:

I wanted to provide an update that the owner has reached out to me and assured me that he will proceed with filing the insurance claim. I will follow up if anything changes - I don't think there is a way for me to remove my complaint, but it would be great if you could just notate in my case file that I'm currently seeking resolution with the owner directly and that I will reach out again if he fails to live up to his word.

    Sincerely,

I am rejecting this response because:

The owner of the moving company finally settled the insurance claim and the insurance company paid out their end, however, the owner was making monthly payments (I believe he only made 2/3) for the balance, and then stopped paying, or responding to my inquiries.

I've asked the owner multiple times to provide a detailed payment plan for the remaining balance with dates of payment. He has not responded, so that's what I'd like to receive from him. I've been patient and flexible when he isn't able to make payments so I just want to know what is feasible for him and when.

    Sincerely,

    ******* Mylla
