11-18-2022--Pd. $4.81 for 4 - B&W copies made. I have the receipt. I gave him my book to have 4 copies made. The book was not returned to me. I have paper showing the book and cost of it to replace. $45.00. I went to the store on Dec. 6th and asked for the book. He said it wasn't there. He stood in one spot, and glanced around the room one time. There was a saleslady there this time. She wasn't there when I gave him my book. I don't understand the receipt. It states 4 copies @ 25cents each =$1.00. Then it says 14 @ .25 = $3.50 making the total $4.81. I had 4 copies made. How is that $4.81? He was not cooperative and did not want to settle this amicably between us.

Please see response dated January 6, 2023

We received your letter dated December 22, 2022 on January 3, 2023
We did make copies for a walk-in customer on November 18, 2022 at 3:29 pm.
We made a total of 18 copies at $0.25 each. Four copies of 1 page and then an additional 14 copies of something
else. Total was $4.50 plus tax $0.31 --Total $4.81
I do recall making copies from a book, I do not remember how many pages were from the book.
Our company policy is to return all original documents to the customer at checkout
I followed our normal check out procedure. The copies, originals and book were placed on the counter in front
of the customer, I collected the money and provided her with a receipt.
I am including register activity report for November 11, 2022. Transaction # **** highlighted.
We did not receive a phone call or email inquiring about the book during the fifteen days between Ms. *******s
visits. We have only one item in the lost and found which has been here for 6 or 7 years.
In early December Ms. ****** came into the store and demanded her book back. She said that l had moved the
book to a different position on the counter so that I could conceal the book and keep it. The counter space for
check out is 32" wide by 24" deep. I am included a photo of the checkout area.
I do not have the book.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: I do not want the complaint centered on the cost of copies. Let that rest. I am concerned for my book. I also state I did not ever say he tried to conceal the book so he could keep it. This shows he is making this difficult. I'd like it settled in a nice way. Mistakes can be made. He put the book on the counter and told me the amount of money. The book seemed to be in his way and was slid over close to the cash register. The money and receipt transition took place and the book was forgotten during this. I do not want to give details of my permanent illness. I went to the store as soon as I was able to. I did not demand anything. I have only asked for a peaceful settlement. I ask for the return of the book or $45.00 to replace it. Again, I have a paper showing the cost of the book.

    Sincerely,
