Hello,This is a complaint about Ocala preparatory academy/OASN in Ocala, *******. They are illegally holding my daughters transcripts and not letting us transfer schools for an error that was the SCHOOLS fault. They also expelled her from the school for this issue that was not even her fault but indeed the schools. My daughter has the step up for students scholarship with unique abilities and I enrolled her in this school last year in February 2024, the school at the time said her tuition would be paid by the scholarship and my parent portion every month was 247$ which was paid I have proof of the statement and that it was fully paid. After a problem arises at the school due to u professionalism with one of the schools staff after requesting a parent conference with the principal they tell me that I suddenly owe 1,000$ for my daughters tuition from February of last year it is now October 2024. I called step up for students and spoke with four different people each on stated that the error for why is was not paid was not my own but the schools error. So I emailed OASN telling them I do not believe that I owe that $1,000 and that I will not pay it due to the fact it is not my error. I tried to bring my daughter to school today and they refused to let her in the school, and gave me a letter stating she was expelled and no longer allowed on the premises. And if you look on the better business bureau you will see I am not the only parent that they have done this illegally to. My daughter already has special need and can not afford to miss anymore school and I will not be able to transfer her to another school without her transcripts. I can easily provide proof of everything that I have said. I dont know what else to do they should not be allowed to do this to innocent children when it is in fact the schools error. Please help in ANY sort of way and/or hold them accountable for their unprofessional and illegal behavior.

Attached is the home education plan that was signed by myself and emails back-and-forth from ******************* and myself. My son was not a full-time student. He was a home education based student which means he could come and go in their place as he pleased he did not need any set dates to be there. So theyre academic and attendance policy did not apply to him because he was a home education student.do with schooling, private ******************** the homeschool education I went into their office in February when he was kicked out of school, I have tried to enroll him in at **** other private schools, the public schools here in Marion county And I cannot get him enrolled because ***** refuses to release my records until I pay her for time that he was not in school. ***** wants my son scholarship money because apparently a childs education who has disabilities is not more important than her getting her funding. So because of ***** and her actions, my 13-year-old has not been in school since February of this year and he is suffering and now I am facing discipline from Marion county schooling because my son is not enrolled in school even though I begged for help and getting him in because of Karens actions, everybody else is being Disciplined but her. So here it is, my son is suffering because she refuses to release his records stating that he was in 7th grade and all of his work.

With all of the emails and proof that I have submitted that means that my child should not have had the same tuition as a full-time student because OASN has different tuition fees for full-time students and home education based students therefore I should not have a past due balance because I had overpaid and thats what I was questioning before ******************* decided to dismiss my child, and terminate him from being a homeschool based student.

I am rejecting this response because:

as shown in the attached email from ************************, the owner of the school it shows on February 8 at 8:50 AM that she stated at this point, it makes more sense that ****** does not continue as a student of OASNK 12 meaning that he was kicked out of school because I was requesting information on payments received for Dallass account and monies that they stated was still owed, and ****** had showed up to school on Monday as it states from ******************* in this email it also states in the email that if I approve the third-quarter payment as required by their withdraw policy and a 30 day notice of them kicking my son out of school that then they would move forward and release his records. It also states in this email from ******************* that I had requested for my sons academic records prior to and that she hadnt forgotten about me. As far as myself reaching out to the state for help from the private school and public school association, it was so that my child could get his records so he could go in attend schooling somewhere else before he fell behind. As far as them withdrawing my child due to academics or attendance that is not what it states in this email from *******************, herself. I believe if they were going to hire an attorney, they shouldve went ahead and forwarded all of the emails which I do have and can attach at a later date between myself the **************** education, department, **** and myself and ******************* and ******** emails which I have requesting my sons information and the fact that this email from ************************ herself clearly states that she will release my sons records if I release the payment from my son scholarship program None of this email states that my son was dismissed from her school due to attendance policies. Its clearly stated in here because I was requesting a formal and legal documentation of every payment that was made, and how much tuition was and all of their payment records and receipts from their finance department, which is when ******************* decided to put her her email, and stating that my son was no longer welcome in their school after I started questioning payments and history. Which legally I am allowed to do as a parent.

    Sincerely,

    *********************************
