Dropped our car there after a check engine light came on and car started shaking. This has happened to us before with the car and it was always a spark plug/coil and we would replace it ourselves. This time my husband decided to drop it off here during the night and then we called them at 7am when they opened to explain we thought it needed a new coil and to let us know what the computer said before doing any other work as we can just do the coil ourselves. We didn't hear back from them at all until they gave us a call at 1:14pm giving us the breakdown on everything they did to our car and how much it would be and that the car was ready for pick up. I was in shock because they never called us prior to give us an estimate. They just worked on the car thinking it would be okay I guess. They replaced a spark plug, coil, and also cleaned the throttle body (WHICH DIDN'T EVEN NEED TO BE DONE) and all of this came out to a total of $520....When we go to the shop I asked to speak to the manager (who was actually the guy that worked on my car supposedly) and the man starts yelling at me and disagreed with me saying that he called and we said to fix the car.....we never once got a call from them giving us a break down on anything before they did the work. What if we didn't have the money to fix it?? On top of that the itemized bill shows at 10:01AM the man called my husband and that my husband **** gave the approval to go ahead with the job. Only problem is we never got a phone call at 10:01AM and my husband never once spoke to the guy. I can prove they never called us to tell us how much it would be by our official phone logs from ***** In the call logs it shows I called at 7am and they did not answer. I called them again several minutes later when they finally picked up. And then I don't speak to them again until they call me after 1pm to tell me the car is ready for pick up and they went ahead and did the work without approval.

We Universal Service Center do not agree with ****'s description of the problem; The service writer ****** states that **** was notified prior to repairs and agree to the charges; prior to filling a complain with the BBB customer attempted to reverse charges on the credit card and were turned down. Our shop has been operating at this location for the past 34 years and take  customer **********************  very seriously.

I am rejecting this response because:

There are several inconsistencies in the businesses story. For starters, they never once spoke with ****, my husband. They only spoke to me, ******. So no one with the name **** approved it, like they said. I sent in documentation of our phone records straight from AT&T, proving that the phone number they were provided with (my phone number, ******) was never called like they said to discuss how much it would be, what was wrong with it, etc. They called my phone number (the one I provided phone records for) after 1pm, to tell me it was ready for pick up. It wasn't until then that I was told how much it would be.

I tried disputing some of the charge that I did not agree to with my bank. I spoke to them and they said they were unable to successfully dispute the charge because we signed the work order basically agreeing to the work provided and that the work was done. While yes, I agree the work was done. We were practically forced to sign the document. We only have 1 car. I got ************** involved and they showed up to the shop (****** should remember that because he cursed at my husband and asked "Why the f*cked did she call the cops?"). ************** even agreed with me that this business was shady, but that I should sign the paper to get my car out of the shop and then after, dispute it with my credit card, write to the BBB, and get a lawyer if I needed to. I NEEEDED my car, I was put in a spot that I felt I had little control over. I was stuck there with my 2 year old, without a car. I felt like I HAD to sign that work order in order to get my car back. I am not giving up on making this right, and I am not giving up on spreading the word on this shady business. I have over ****** people on social media. I will take to social media to warn people of this shady business and their practices so no one gets taken advantage of like I did. You've been in the business over 34 years now, you should know how to speak to customers after 34 years, but your gaslighting response back to me proves you do not. Also, all the reviews this business has online look extremely fake. If you are going to be shady and have fake reviews written about your business, make it more believable.

    Sincerely,
