The business in question fraudulently charged my medical insurance company well above and beyond the normal rate for the services provided. ****** ******, the wellness center that we went to, uses Aventus Biolabs/ABL Medical Care LLC as their laboratory to process bloodwork. Bloodwork is included in the normal fee that Revive charges, around $800 for the treatment, but then offer a 15% discount, about $120, if you do the bloodwork through your insurance. Aventus Biolabs has a contract with ****** ****** for a flat fee of $70 on bloodwork. ABL Medical Care then proceeded to submit claims for $18,260.80 under my account and $16,932.04 on my wife's account, for bloodwork! Luckily, they did not receive anything close to those ridiculous and blatantly fraudulent fees. But nonetheless, the amount discounted, in no way equals out the over $1300 that they did receive from my insurance company. They attempted the same with my wife's claim, but since they had almost but wiped out my Health Reimbursement Account, only received a partial payment on her claim. After contacting Aventus billing department, I was basically told that they can charge anything they want, they could not return the funds to my insurance company, and that they would not refund anything to me personally. They are not only committing fraud, breaching contracts, but are flat out stealing money from unsuspecting clients. Any help, assistance, or guidance you can offer in recovering these funds and holding this company accountable is greatly appreciated.

    Business Response

    Date: 05/09/2023

    ABL
Medical Care LLC (dba Aventus Biolabs) submitted a laboratory claim to CIGNA on
Feb 14, 2023 in for a male lab panel.
    We
received an EOB (Explanation of Benefits) from CIGNA on March 23, 2023 with a check
    # *************** stating that $1,308.48 has been applied to the
    deductible.
    On March
27, 2023, we received a payment from CIGNA in the amount of $1,308.48 via check
#**********, as CIGNA released these funds from the patients HSA (Health
Savings Account).  Hence, the purpose of
    funding an HSA.
    It is our
understanding, that the patient was not aware there would be a lab charge by
their Provider. ABL is not the provider. We are the laboratory the provider
orders the lab panel from. The Provider is Revive.
    The
patient ***** ********, failed to inform the Provider that he has an HSA plan.
Had he done so, he would have been informed that all fees related to his
medical services would come from his HSA. The sole purpose of an HSA is to put
funds aside for anticipated medical services. The patient received a medical
service by his provider and received results from ABL for his lab panel. He received
all services and yet he is stating he should not have to pay for it.

Revive (the provider) and ABL have followed the standard practice of billing
that is within all state and federal regulatory compliance requirements. This
    is everyday standard billing practices.
    ABL is not
quite sure what this patient is desiring. Is he claiming that he should not
have to pay for medical services or laboratory services? Additionally, ABL’s
bill was a substantial amount more than what we actually collected from CIGNA.  Not only did we provide the service but we
were paid a small fraction of the bill.
    Please let
us know what you would like ABL to do moving forward. As the Chief Legal
Officer of this company, we will not be reimbursing the patient for services
rendered. In fact, we reserve the right to charge the patient the balance of
our bill, however at this time, we will be choosing not to balance bill.

    Thank you,
    David
