I took my 1970s radio to central florida speaker repair to be repaired on 9/27/22. Fernando assisted me, and informed me that they charge 125 for the (diagnostic) and then that amount goes towards the repair. He said they would let me know within 30 days, if the repair would cost more then 125.

I called today 10/31/22, since no one had contacted me. Spoke with Fernando, and he informed me that the repairs would cost 500+.

I asked Fernando, would I be informed of what was repaired or replaced once I pay for the repair? He replied, no, we only repair and give you a 90 day warranty, if theirs something wrong, you bring it back, otherwise thats all. I said, well, I dont want to sound disrespectful, but if I pay you 500+ I would like to know what was changed/rapaired. This made Fernando very angry and disrespectful towards me, he said (i dont want to do business with you, come pick your radio up in 3 days, and I bet you wont find a repair shop, thats why you brought it here to begin with).

    Hi.

Thank you for sending this inquiry.

This *************, he came to the shop first time and ask one million question about everything and he shows the unit he wanna repair. We explain how is our policy and he left. No business.
After a week he came back and told us he wanna pay the diagnostic fee, which is 125,00 to check what is wrong, no to repair. He agrees to pay. I have the paperwork he signed.
After couple of days he call asking for updates, and we don't have it yet.

When we have the price and cost for the repair he start asking questions about the price. Like this, why you are charging 500.00 and the repair could cost 50.00? So in this way we told him not to repair and came to the store and pick up his unit, because we don't do business in this way. We are doing business since 1968, he doesn't have to repair with us, that is his choice and was our choice to no do business with him, he doesn't have a common sense and he doesn't know how repairs works. Our choice to refuse his unit to be repair.

This type of customer will bring more problems to us than solutions.

Here is the Estimate and he agrees and signed:

    Thank You.

    Consumer Response /* (3000, 9, 2022/11/14) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
When I visited the store, Fernando said that the Diagnostic Fee was 125.00, which also woukd go towards the repair. He also said that in 3-4 weeks he would call me, and inform me of what was diagnosed, to see if I would like to have it repaired.

I had to call him, after 4 weeks, since no one had called me. He said it would cost 500.00 to repair, I asked what was diagnosed as faulty. He did not know, and said that his company doesnt say what the problems to fix are. According to the Orange County Consumer Protection Laws, as a paying customer, Im entitled to receive an itemized list of what is to be repaired, before I agree to a repair. This is what my 125.00 was for. And since Fernando did not follow the Law, Im asking for my 125.00 to be refunded.

    Business Response /* (4000, 12, 2022/11/29) */
Hello, The agreement that ************* signed and is written on his estimate says this: "Diagnostic Fee: Bench time for analyzing problem. This is a non-refundable deposit. It will go towards the repair if the customer agrees to fix product after estimate is quoted. " The estimate was quoted and he did not agree to repair. We don't provide an itemized list until service is rendered. This protects us from someone who will refuse service and try to fix himself, which he already tried to do and was not successful. He was very demanding and tried to tell me what it should cost to repair. This is not how I do business. If you check our reviews you will see that we have many satisfied customers.

    Sincerely,

    Fernando U***

    Consumer Response /* (4200, 14, 2022/11/29) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
fernando just stated that his business does not provide an itemized list until after the work is done. This statement is both a lie, and illegal in Florida.

1st, he told me over the phone that his business does not provide an itemized list before or after it repairs equipment.

2nd, according to Floridas consumer laws, before a customer decides on agreeing to a repair, the business must provide an itemized repair list if requested.

    * The estimate was quoted, I asked for an itemized list, he said his business does not supply one. I asked if one would be supplied after the repairs, he replied no. When I asked what was going to be repaired, fernando became angry, yelled at me, and said he does not want to repair my equipment. *

Therefore, since he did not diagnose my eqipment, and refused to repair it, my $125.00 should be refunded.

He continues making false insults of my person, and character. Saying that I tried to repair the equipment myself, and was unsuccesful. This is both a lie and an insult.
