Employees are very questionable and have criminal backgrounds and should not be sent to peoples homes. Prior to starting the job they knew of plants around the bottom part of the screen, which was not being replaced. The installers refused to finish the screening because of allergies so they had to have the plants removed first. I could not get someone fast enough to do this. One or more employees conned me into hiring them to remove the plants and they never completed the work. This company and their employees cost me an extra $550 just for that and still unknown amounts, since someone else had to complete their work and there is more damage which the cost is unknown. Further they drove a truck on my lawn without permission, over where the septic system is. This company denies any responsibility. My sprinkler system around the screened area is destroyed likely because of the placement of their ladders since that is where the breaks are. The work itself was initially horrible. They had to return multiple times to fix the screening. They charged more than other companies for very inferior work. I had to stop payment to insure that the job was completed and satisfactory. I had every intention of paying them. Pieces of screen still remain on my lanai and in my pool. I had to stopped payment. Now they will only accept a cashiers check and will charge 18% interest, and attorneys fees and put a lien on my house - that is there threat. I am an 80 year old woman. You don't treat people like this. They will not respond to my response to their threatening letter. I have sent them another bank check for less than the full amount because of the damages which they refuse to accept any responsibility. I sent them another email stating that and they if the did not cash it, it was on them. This company will not discuss anything. At no time did I refuse to pay them.

Reliable Screens was contacted by Ms. *****, and asked for an estimate to do a rescreen of her pool enclosure. At the time of the estimate, she was advised that the bushes needed to be cut back away from the cage so the installers could do their job. She contacted us a couple of days later to state she would like to move forward. At that time, we gave her a date of July 21st and advised her that a 50% deposit was required prior to the job starting. We reached out to Ms. ***** on July 20th inquiring about the deposit and she stated she would hand our employee a check. At no time did she mention that the bushes were not cut back. Two installers showed the following day to find the bushes and told her they could not do the walls till the bushes were cut back. At that time, she told them she couldn't find anybody to come out to remove them. She asked the installers if they would be interested in removing them for her. One of the installers said he could and would return that Saturday. She assumed the risk and contracted with a Reliable Screens employee on the side as Reliable Screens never contracted with Ms. ***** for yard work. Whatever verbal/written contract they had I'm not privy to because it was between them and not Reliable Screens.
After an agreement was made with our employee to do the bushes on the side, my guys were finally able to start the job that they were there for, screening. They completed the roof rescreen and tried to collect payment for that portion of the job. She wrote it out incorrectly and the check was not able to be presented for deposit. When we called her, she apologized and stated she would have her bank issue a check for payment in full. A text was received from Ms. ***** with a confirmation number from her bank confirming the check. At the completion of the rescreen at no time did she mention any damage to her property. She did state some of the screens seemed to be loose so we sent out one of the installers that did the bushes to go look at the job. The entire time the installer was there all she did was yell at him, stating that she wanted her money back. That's when she called the office telling us that she wants her money back for the side job. We told her that Reliable Screens had nothing to do with the side job and that she needed to work that out with them. We sent another installer out and fixed some minors issues that's when she told the installer that she did a stop payment on our check. We have not been paid for this job and have advised her if we do not receive payment in full for the work, we were contracted for that a lien would be placed on her property, to which she insists is a threat. That's when she pushed around the fact that she was an attorney and she was not going to pay us in full that she was deducting the yard work. As of today, we still have not received any money for this job. We are not liable for the work she worked out with our employees on the side.

    Reliable Screens
They certainly like to lie. I was not present when the estimate was given, thus I never told them that the Mexican Petunias would be removed. The bushes they are referring to are Mexican Petunias. I called Reliable Screen the day before they were to start and informed them that the Mexican Petunias had not been removed. At no time did I tell them the Mexican Petunias would be removed. I also called the day before and told them they could toss a drop cloth over the plants to install the screens. Knowing the Mexican Petunias were still present, they sent their installers anyway. The question should be why send the installers if the installer would not install with the Mexican Petunia present. The plants only covered the area of the lower pet screen which was NOT being replaced. At no time prior to this did they say they could not install the screens. In fact, it was only because the installer Ben was allergic to bees and refused to install the screen without the removal of the plants. Another employee, Eric, clearly stated two days later that, the petunia would not have been a problem to install the screens. Apparently, all the problems existed because their employee Ben refused to do the work because he was allergic to bees. Reliable Screen should not send out an installer who could not perform outside work because of a bee allergy. All problems would have been avoided had they sent a different installer and said no they would not touch the work.
Further I was not told until the day before that 50% was due. They did not want payment via credit card over the phone or they would have been paid 50% that day. They said I could pay the 50% the next day when the installers showed up. Again, that was not exactly true. The installers said they could not process a credit card so I had no choice but to issue them a check. Yes, I did make an error in making out the check. I put the correct number amount but wrote the incorrect amount in writing. I did ask the employees to make sure there were no errors on the check. They said it looked fine. I was not called regarding the error on the check. It wasn't until I called them to make the final payment, that I was informed I messed up the first check. That would have been immediately corrected had I known of the error. I am blind in one eye so I do make mistakes making out checks which is why I prefer to have the bank to write it or a charge.
True I could not get the Petunias removes fast enough for them to do the side walls. Reliable Screen was not the reason I wanted the Petunias removed. They looked bad and that is why I wanted them removed. Because of the Reliable Screen installer that refused to do the work outside with the Petunias because of his allergy I was conned, by the other employee, that he would do it. My landscaper was busy at the time, so I believe I really did not have a choice. Reliable Screen is responsible for the individuals they send to people's property. Reliable Screens should bear some responsibility in this situation. I should have been informed that this employee had a criminal record. I had thought I could trust them to send out honorable employees. I would have thought an honorable company would have lowered their price considering what their employee promised and didn't do to finish the work and left a mess, even if it was an alleged side job. This company could care less what their employees do or do not do. The have a legal responsibility to do background checks which was unlikely done. You do not send questionable people to do work at peoples homes, especially elderly people.
Never once did I yell at the employees, not one time. I did tell the one employee, I believe his name was Ben, that I thought they should make an adjustment on the bill because of that one employee and all the times they had to come back and fix the screening. That employee agreed they should make an adjustment. He even said he would say something to his boss. Guess another lie. Further I never pushed around the fact that I was an attorney. The company knew that when I emailed them the signed contract. My email address shows I am an attorney. Further I only practice family law type cases, mostly for the indigent, and maybe one or two criminal cases a year also for the indigent. I don't sue companies. This company seems to only be able to tell lies because most of what they said is just that. I hope this review will prevent other victims of this company.
I do consider a demand for only a certified check for the full amount or I would be charged 18% interest and have a lien on my house a very clear and present threat, especially to an elderly woman.
On August 17 I had the bank send them a check for $2,000 which is more than fair for the mess left and the damage to my sprinkler system by the placement of the latter's. That has nothing to do with the $550 that their employee cheated me out of for the uncompleted
