Had hurricane Ida damage to condo & needed mold remediation after substantial interior wind/water damage, weeks of no electricity & bad job of cleanup by *******. Personally hired a local company to test for mold. Toxic mold was found so had to vacate premises. Then hired ************ who required Housecheck Environmental Services (also doing business as National HouseCheck Corporation) perform mold test& inspection/survey of condo to provide scope of work for ************ to follow for remediation. I had not sought out HouseCheck on my own & was told by ************ they need the report from Housecheck in order to start work even though I questioned why I needed to hire them especially given I had already had mold test performed. One concern w/ having to hire HouseCheck was having to incur fees that were unnecessary. Housecheck would not give me a price but told me it would not be that much and that I can submit to insurance. I provided them with all info they requested relating to condo (ins. adjusters, HOA docs, previous mold report…) when appt was scheduled for May 8, 2022 the guy they sent out (Caleb) told me he couldn’t do his job that day bc air conditioner was broken & proceeded to chip away at ice on coils causing further damage & more expensive a/c repair. After a/c got repaired I rescheduled HouseCheck appt in which Caleb was assigned but he cancelled & flaked out couple times giving ridiculous excuses causing further delays w/ much needed remediation. Eventually had to contact ************ to handle matter w/Caleb’s supervisors to get him to come complete inspection report. On 6/9/22 he finally showed up but got to property late at night. He claimed he didn’t get to finish job so had to come back next day (6/10/22). Then got a bill for $10,573 for inspection report for 1,000 SF condo. Ins. refuses to pay bc they claim it’s price gouging/unnecessary work. Now got collections bill. They have revoked status with LA Sec of St. & are fraudulent at best.

    RE: Complaint ID 19509642

Thank you for forwarding the complaint from Ms. ******. The work that is referenced was for Ms. ******* ** **** **** ******, New Orleans, LA.

Foremost I’d like to mention that for over a year we have tried to work out any payment from Victoria and/or her insurance to no avail. In fact, neither Ms. ******* or Ms. ****** have returned calls for over 6 months, which is why we turned this bill over to collections. Even as recently as October 25, 2022 we left messages with Ms. ****** and Brian *********, their claim adjuster at Southern *********, to work out a settlement or learn if they had filed a claim with Ms. ********* Homeowner Association. We received no response from the countless calls and emails sent.  These calls were originated through our partner, Heartland Claim Services, who also were the ones who provided the quote for services. This is clearly a case where the customer does not intend to pay for services rendered and agreed to in writing.

On April 29, 2022 Ms. ******* and Ms. ****** scheduled the following services with HouseCheck, and the agreement was signed on 5/10/2022 (attached):
    Inspection report
    Moisture mapping
    ATP sampling
    Sterile swab sampling
    Air sampling
On-site consultation with our expert (#54 leading mold inspector worldwide)

Note that while we perform the sampling, we send the samples to a nationally recognized lab for analysis. This is included on the report we sent to sara.t.******@gmail.com and ************ (attached) so that they would know how to remediate the water damage to the home. We also sent over the floorplan scan to ************ (Victoria’s remediators) so that they could begin work (attached).

It is important to note that our partner, Heartland Claim Services, created a quote through for the ****** residence using Xactimate – the approved quoting system by insurance adjustors (attached). When providing the quote, we were in line with approved processes and pricing.

There was considerable work done for Victoria ******t, which was agreed to. This work is attached. All agreed tests and reports were provided to Victoria ******t/Sarah ****** so that their remediator could begin work and assure that the work was done correctly, mold was remediated, and that all conditions conducive for mold were removed. Basically, to make the residence safe for Ms ******t. For this reason, we have no reason to stop any collection efforts; especially in light that they have refused to talk to us regarding any settlement amount.

    Sincerely,

    National HouseCheck Corporation
