West coast was scheduled to repair my screening and did not show up two separate times. I repeatedly called to have another appointment set, when they finally came on 4/24/25, they did not notify me that they were coming or had completed the job. My kittens that were living on the lanai where the screening was to be repaired never stopped going out through the same screen that was needing repair so I did not know they had come to repair. I taped around the screen in a last resort attempt to keep the kitten inside because he was continuously contracting fleas and bringing them inside with him. It wasnt until May 14th that someone reached out to me and showed photos of the repair work they had done reportedly on April 24th. I voiced my complaint of what I feel was an insufficient job repair because I still suffered property damage despite their attempt at repair. I paid for another service that the company had completed sufficiently, but do not feel I should have to pay for an insufficient screening job. Also the total amount owed is continuously changing without reason. My bill for the gutters has $590.52 due, but I paid $649.52, even with an added charge for unit price of $49 and tax this amount would only be $629.52 The person texting me quoted me at an amount due of $887.52. Im disputing the billing for the amount of the invoice for the screening which was $214, again with the other job even at $649.52 and the $214 that would total at $863, not $887.52; so at this point it seems they are just adding frivolous amounts to the total owed. The person also admits that the spline that they used for the repair has been discontinued because it is insufficient. Now I am being threatened with a lien on my property for their insufficient service.Business Response

Our records show that we completed the screen repair on April 24, 2025, and provided photographic proof of completion. The customer was not home at the time of service, but our team performed the agreed-upon work as scheduled and documented everything thoroughly.
It is important to clarify that the customers enclosure uses round spline, a product type that is prone to popping out over time and is no longer recommended in our industry. As we explained to the customer, this is precisely why flat spline was developed and is now the standard for better hold and durability. Due to the known limitations of round spline, we do not offer a warranty for screen repairs using round spline, which was disclosed.
Regarding the claim that we never communicated our visit: Our team attempted to contact the customer prior to arrival but did not receive a response. The work was completed regardless, and evidence was later shared with the customer.
The customer has not paid the $214 for the screen repair.
Due to non-payment for over 30 days, a 10% late fee was added in accordance with our policy, and the customer was notified in writing that failure to pay may result in a lien being placed on the property. This warning is clearly stated in our contract.
To summarize:
The screen repair was completed with proof.
The spline used was the only type compatible with the customers existing structure, which is not under warranty.
The customer has unpaid balances for two separate services.(until today paid for gutters month after)
All charges are supported by detailed invoices and communications.
A lien is a legal step we take only after exhausting other options.
We remain open to resolving this matter amicably and professionally, but we respectfully request that all outstanding invoices be paid in full.
We willing to offer you to rebuild the patio with proper new materials so youll never have same issue again, our screens been installed properly as you can see in the picture the spline is completely in the spline groove .
Sincerely,
West Coast Screening & Seamless Gutters

Hurricane *** destroyed the porch on the Deerwood home ( I own it, my daughter lives there). We slowly repaired/ rebuilt the porch ( put up cement block wall, 4 high). Made the mistake of putting up an expensive awning( we were misled about how secure the awning would be so we took it down). West Coast Screening is owned by my daughters girlfriend and she asked her boyfriend (Vlad ******** to help us out. He did give us a break ( but remember its only 1/2 the normal height) , $3,852! While the crew was installing they screwed into wires that were behind the vinyl siding, instead of backing out the screws and working around them they just had my daughter turn off the electric so they wouldnt get shocked!!! So now the whole porch is electrified. We also had a leak which they did come out and tried to fix but didnt. We had a representative come out to try to help us. He was talking with my daughter ( she doesnt do well with aggression and has panic attacks) and he was very condescending and aggressive. My daughter asked him to talk to me and he refused, he had her in tears so she told him to get off the property. So he said that they would no longer work with us!!! We paid ******************* on 10/31/24 $504.00 and thought it was fixed, we had to have them out again which was another $423.00. So now this favor has cost us a lot and the screws they used are rusting already. So we spent money on their s**** up, we still have a leak and now the screws are rusting. I sent a certified return receipt to their office and they wouldnt sign or pick up. So I sent a certified letter to his home address and got no answer. I then texted him and said I was filing a complaint and according to him he said hed been out of town and didnt know about the problem. He asked me to give him a few days to look into it. Well of course he never got back to me and isnt responding to my texts. This is completely unprofessional even with it supposedly being a favor.Business Response

We appreciate your understanding and the opportunity to address your concerns.
As you know, this project was done as a favor to a friend, and we only charged for the cost of materials and labor. Before starting the installation, we clearly advised against attaching the patio to vinyl siding due to the high likelihood of future leaks. You chose to proceed with the understanding that there would be no warranty on that part of the installationexcept for the screen portion, which we continue to stand behind.
Despite this, weve returned multiple times to try and resolve the issue in good faith. Unfortunately, the recent hurricane has caused additional damage to the connection point, and we must clarify that we cannot be held responsible for weather-related damages.
We are more than willing to come out again, assess the situation, and offer a fair and reasonable quote for the necessary repairs. However, given the nature of the original agreement, were unable to continue doing the work at no charge.
Please let us know how youd like to proceed, and well schedule a time to come by and evaluate the repairs needed.
Sincerely,

I am rejecting this response because:
They have completely avoided the main issue of the crew when installing the porch they drilled through hidden wires. Instead of stopping and doing the job right they continued knowing that the porch was electrified and a hazard. It cost me an additional $900 to fix their s**** up. Also theyve only come out once to fix a leak- I do understand the leak issue, so no problem there. We had no additional damage from hurricane to the porch!! We do have screws that are rusting which is covered under warranty. They wont hold the porch if we have another storm. The only other time they came out was when their *** belittled my daughter and got her extremely upset. Very unprofessional. They need to fix the screws and address the electrical issue.

We have came out to fix the leak , which we warned would happen, we offered to take down the whole enclosure and assess the issue, for additional charge as we explained we did the job AT COST of the materials and labor as a favor , there was no way for us to know there was wires there. We have no problem coming out taking the enclosure down and finding where the issue is as additional cost , as we did this as friendly favor, THERE WAS NO WAY POSSIBLE for us to know if theres any wires ran thru the wall at 12 feet above ground when it never runs that high. All wires ran are at ground level or max 3 around where your outlets are. All lighting for ceiling wires ran thru attic .
we have no problem coming out taking. Patio down, no one belittle your daughter we explained the issue, she didnt want to listen to solution of the problem . And told them to leave the property we build 15 enclosures and patios a week not once we ran into an issue as if we see Job like yours we dont take it or warn you and make u sign form, as we thought your friend of family we proceeded with install.
we can agree on price of us coming out taking patio down and fixing the issue, we have warned u its not good idea to put the patio up you insisted for us to install it . Feel free to reach out ************Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
I can see that you are not going to do the right thing. You broke up with my daughters friend so now you feel you have no responsibility for the job you did.
The wire issue is both our fault so Im admitting some fault. I shouldve notified the crew before work began but after they realized they were electrifying the whole porch they should have stopped instead of having my daughter( who isnt an electrician) turn off the power so they could finish the job!! They knowingly made the porch a hazard. As I stated last response, I realize the leaks are an issue we will take care of but the rusted screws are not our fault and you should be honorable enough to replace them.
You do not need to take down the porch- we already had an electrician out twice to fix the hazard you created. You should be responsible for some of the cost.
I wasnt part of the initial conversation about installing, the only problem Im aware of was that we wanted the porch to start on the cement block and you had to redesign to do so. We truly appreciate the help you gave us but we didnt expect you to ignore the problems that arent our fault but yours. With the money Ive spent with the electrician and if I have to do the screws I could have had a proper porch done.
We lost a ton of money on an unscrupulous sales person with the awning and now all the money to fix the porch which didnt end up being a favor. We will let our friends and family know that you dont honor your work.

After providing a down payment of $6350. for a pool cage replacement, I decided to just do some repair to the cage and add 6 privacy screens. and have the owner of the business over to my home to change the quote for said work. He did this followed up by sending out a worker who installed only 4 privacy screens.I called the office asking for the refund on the downpayment of $6300 and requested they complete the job and issue me a bill for the new screens. Not only did the office manager say WE Do Not give any refunds on any down payment's, the owner told me the same thing. That is their policy! Now they want to be paid for what they did which was never completed. a Being a veteran, I do not like complaining about anything but this is a lot of money that I can't afford to lose. Thanks in advance for your help!**** ***** ************Business Response

We are writing in response to the complaint filed by Mr. **** regarding the non-refundable deposit for the pool cage installation project, signed on October 14, 2024.
As per the terms outlined in the contract, Mr. **** provided a non-refundable deposit. After the contract was signed, we began work on the project, including engineering, permitting, layout, and survey preparations, which were initiated in December.
In December, Mr. **** requested a refund due to a family emergency. We explained that the deposit was non-refundable, as stated in the contract, but in an effort to accommodate his situation, we offered to perform other services around his home, such as gutter and screen repairs. Mr. **** agreed to this offer, but later decided to cancel the project entirely and request a refund.
At this point, we reiterated that the deposit was non-refundable, in accordance with the contract terms. Mr. **** then involved his lawyer, and, for legal reasons, we ceased all direct communication with him.
We have attached a copy of the signed contract, which clearly states that the deposit is non-refundable, as well as the estimate provided to the customer, which also includes this clause.
We hope this clarification helps resolve the matter. Should you require any further information or clarification, please do not hesitate to contact us at ********************* or ************.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:The said contract Does Not state that a deposit for work is non-refundable. The contract states clearly that West Coast Screening reserves the right to terminate the contract without a refund if the contractor or the employees are (subjected to any form of disrespect, harassment, or unreasonable behavior from the client.) This clause is stated under the Respect and Termination portion of said contract.
I have and never would conduct business using disrespect in any form or harassment.
Again, there was a verbal agreement between **** (owner) and myself to do a scope of work change on January 23rd 2025. I was presented with a new estimate for same in the amount of $1,045.39 that evening.
Thanks

This contractor did not finish the work as promised. Doing a screened lanai. Screen is not complete. Pavers move and no sand was placed. ***** and exterior to lanai were left a mess even though he promised to clean. We extended his finishing till 8/26 and he said he was OK with that , then later in the day demanded payment in full even though he did not complete the project and threatened us with a 10% penalty for not paying in full for the uncompleted project.Business Response

This response was taken verbally by BBB:
The customer hired me to do a screen enclosure and footer. They asked me for a referral to a paver company. I referred them to a paver company who they contracted with separately to seal their pavers. My contract with the customer is complete. The customers issue is with the paving company that they contracted with directly. This was not my sub-contractor. Please review the attached contract which shows what my company is responsible for.

I am rejecting this response because: West Coast Screening took ownership of the pavers. They picked up the pavers, delivered the pavers, brought their "lead paver guy" here, and most importantly, insisted that a $3000.00 check for the pavers and installation be made out to them (West Coast Screening) only. To say now they have nothing to do with the pavers after demanding payment for pavers and installation is preposterous. The paver work is still unfinished.

This response was taken verbally by BBB:
The check was made out to me out of convenience as the paver company owed me money. In regards to picking up the pavers, the pavers were on back order everywhere for 10 weeks. As a courtesy, to assist the customer, we drove to *********** and picked up the pavers for the customer. Bottom line, the customer only hired us for the screen enclosure. That is what our contract is for.
