    Hurricane *** caused a great deal of damage in ****** **. Gave a good size deposit for carport and ******* room roof in January of 2023 to J&J Screens.J&J promised to have the work completed by 4/29/23. Its been excuse after excuse and no work was done. We recently became aware of at least 4-5 other residents that contracted with, him gave good to large size deposits and no work has been done.He has refused to return deposits. We are realizing that we may have been scammed along with other people. Along with others in the area, we have lost thousands of dollars, he took deposits after hurricane *** and has done none of the work. We would like our deposit back, still no roof.

    J & J Screens contacted me on 12/9/22. I signed a contract on 12/9/22 and gave him $3700.50 to purchase items to replace a screened enclosure and carport that was damaged by hurricane ***. When he didn't show I contacted him and he gave me another date. This went on this way until I discovered I was being scammed. I got a letter from my insurance company they would not be renewing my insurance and in order to get a new company this would have to be finished. I contacted him again and told him and he said got it. Still no response. He told me he was finishing up on a person down the st. from me I said ok. It got where I only had 3 weeks and I would be without insurance, I told him that and he said they would be here Thursday didn't show then he said Friday by that time I didn't know what to do so I went and talked to my neighbor and she told me same thing happened to her. I found a new company to do this for me I just hope I can get to done in time. I would just like to get my money back. I do have a contract singed by him but I don't know how to attach it to this also I have my messages on my phone where we messaged each other.

    On 11/23/2022 I received an estimate to repair damage due to hurricane *** from **************************He was to replace the carport roof and new gutters and down spouts on the right side of my home. He was to repair the carport on the left side of my home. The estimate was for $6000.00. On 11/26/2022 I provide a deposit and authorized the work for $3000.00, the other half was to be paid at completion. He said he would start approximately 02/20/2023. Two other neighbors had contracted with ****** as well, ******************* and ******************************February came and went with no contact from ******. ***************************** reached out to him and he explained he had some medical issues and would begin in March. After no one showed to do the work, ****************** attempted to contact ******. ****** did not take any phone calls from any of the 3 parties, he does not have a working voice mail. ****** would text stating materials were not available, machines were broken and he would always say he would be there next week and provide a $500.00 discount.On 03/29/2023 all three parties requested a refund. ****** stated it would take 30 business days to process the refund. To date no refund has been provided. ****** is not taking nor returning phone calls.The 2 other parties, ******************* and ***************************** will or have filed a complaint with you as well.

    On 12/2/2022 we signed an estimate/Invoice for a full carport replacement after ***. The roofing company representative recommended ************************* and ****** was present for that recommendation. The roofing representative made it clear that the roofing would be ready by mid February and the carport would need to be installed by then. We gave ****** a $3,000. deposit for which we have a receipt. We began texting with ****** on Jan. 19th. He said he was finishing a job and would be there the following Monday. That began daily text message exchanges with him giving excuses from having his appendix out to his best friend dying or promises of start dates which never materialized. After the roofing company got on his case because he was holding up several of their jobs, he dropped off some material. Then it was back to the texting game. More pressure form the roofing company and ** and he sent 3 inexperienced men over. One was high, one played with his phone and one tried to figure out how to start, ruining a bunch of material. We asked ****** to send an experienced crew. Back to the texting game of promises and excuses. His son and ******* showed up a couple of weeks later to "look at the job not to work" . My husband had words with them and told them not to show up again. We were never able to reach them again. We had to hire another contractor, replace half the material ****** dropped off and buy additional material. We are out out $3,000 plus had to pay a premium to get someone to do the work so the roofers could get in. We would like ****** to pay for all that. My husband,*********************, signed the deal along with ******. All text messages have been saved, but I don't know how to download them at this time.

    Estimate given by ************************* on 11/20/2022 to redo roof with metal roof and carport for Hurricane damage. Also redo screen room roof and gutter. Fix wood and fur out roof with wood and fassia to make a *****. This estimate and invoice given to me in writing on printed invoice titled" J & J Screens" with phone number ************. Estimate was for $11,000. I made a down payment of $5,500 by check, which was cashed within 7 days. Invoice states that work was promised to begin 02/20/2023. When no one came to begin work, ****** was contacted by text/phone. Excuses were hospitalization for appendix (we understand) and we were patient. Excuses in March were inability to get materials. We requested a refund of our deposit on 03/29/2023, and text reply from ****** was "absolutely". He further texted that it would take "30 business days to process". That was up 05/10/2023. To date, NO refund has been made. He does not answer his phone and voice mailbox is full. Texts result with more promises for next week. Additionally, *********** across street contracted with ************************* at the same time and have the same problem. Their deposits were for $ ****. (*******************) and $ ****. (*****************************). They will file with you separately.
