On 01/22/24 I contacted the company for a quote to remove a two-tank filter system from our condo. The company looked at it first and told our tenants that it would be between $200 and $300 to remove the tanks. I then called the company directly and spoke to women on the phone. She told me it would be $150; I confirmed the price verbally and verbally okayed the work. On 01/25/24 the company completed the work and removed the tanks. The girl in the office then called me and told the work was complete and the total was $350. I then asked why it was over double what I was quoted on the phone. She stated she was not sure and would have the owner call me back. On 01/25/24 at 2:47 pm the assumed owner **** called me back and immediately screamed into the phone "What type of f****** scam are you trying to pull?" I replied "Excuse me? I am not pulling a scam; I am just trying to figure out why it is so much more than I was quoted." He told me I was quoted $350 and that three other girls in the office heard it. I asked him if his phone lines were recorded so we could listen to it back and he said no. He then threatened not to do any further work and to get his lawyer involved. I told him that I never said I was not paying it, I was just inquiring as to why the final cost was so much more than the initial quote. He stated I was quoted $350, to do what I had to do, and then hung-up. Teh entire conversation lasted exactly two minutes. I have since remitted payment in the form of a check (#****) for a total of $350. However, I believe that we were taken advantage in that he provided one cost to our tenants, another cost to us on the phone, then up charged the final amount to $350, and when we tried to discuss it, he immediately started screaming, swearing, and accusing us of scamming and lying to him.

This response was taken verbally by BBB:

We spoke to the consumer over the phone and quoted the job (which has to be approved on our end by 2 supervisors) he accepted the quote that day and we scheduled the job. It was after we billed him he then felt overcharged, however we provide fair quotes to all of our customers.

I am rejecting this response because:

Basically, it is not true.  The technicians on scene gave one quote.  The secretary in the office gave another quote (the one accepted by me).  And the owner is the one that f-bombed me on the phone after the fact. None of the three quotes were the same and no supervisors were ever identified.  Further the owner has failed to address his belligerent and unprofessional behavior.

    Sincerely,

I would like to take this opportunity to apologize on behalf of myself and my technician that the experience with my company was not the best version that we could provide. I personally spoke to the customer on the morning of service. This call came in during the very early morning hours, and I called the customer back before our normal service provided hours. I understand how devastating it can be to have an emergency and trying to find service. I dispatched the call to my technician that Saturday morning and assumed all was well. Obviously, that was not the case, and I am just finding that out now. I cannot say how my technician performed as I was not there. As our company has been in this area for over 30 years, we strive to be friendly, reliable and knowledgeable.

Before this letter, I did not receive any feedback from this customer. I work in my office, therefore I would be able to handle any issues immediately. I welcome any customer to reach out to us directly and allow us the opportunity to resolve that issue. I will be refunding the customer the full amount.
