This company installed a paver drive at our house December, 2021. They promised a 5 year warranty, which is the reason I chose them. They told me that this covered anything that went wrong for the full 5 years. In August of this year I contacted them to let them know some pavers are developing chips and cracks that are getting larger. They said they would sent someone to look at the issue. Nobody showed. I called two other time over the next several weeks. Nothing! While out of town for my Dad's funeral, my wife *******, called three times. Again, nothing but a promise someone would come out, which they never did. She also reported that roots, supposedly dug out by them at installation, are pushing pavers up. They never returned her last call. It is now October and still nobody has shown up. The defects are getting larger. They may seem minor to them, but they promised to correct anything that went wrong. I sent them a text this afternoon letting them know I was filling this complaint.

      Good Afternoon,

This warrant repair has been completed and everything is 100%resolved.

Unfortunately, Teresa and I both had surgery and I was out of the office for almost 2 weeks recovering.

There was a small repair where the pavers had sunken due to a root.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. The repair of 8 chipped pavers and one raised by a root were completed to our satisfaction.

Since we signed a contract on 12/28/21, we have experienced, a) several issues with inferior workmanship and work not being completed to code, b) multiple ignored requests for Insurance information and other information requested, c) work being completed without a permit and multiple failed inspections post permit issuance, d) no Lien Waivers provided after payments made, e) mental abuse, f) threats of lawsuit, g) deception, and h) recently through an attorney, threats of unjustified lien being placed on our property from Florida Coastal Contractors (FCC) and Howard Shane Shafer.
Final attempt to resolve the roof damage issue hindering us from continuing our project (estimated ~$5,000-$9,000) or to obtain FCC’s agreement to terminate our contract effective immediately without lawsuit or lien given the experiences we’ve had.
Issue started during demo (March 2022) where FCC identified “several structural members were compromised and had mold and structural integrity issues” (quoted from the FCC Change Order). FCC (Shane) advised they could complete the repairs; verbally and in email. We agreed to contract FCC. FCC employees performed the unlicensed and inferior work; a licensed roofer should have completed. After multiple complaints, FCC agreed to pay the total roof repairs which would be completed by an independent licensed roof contractor. But they wouldn’t pay unless we agreed to sign a modified contract. We did not agree to the terms to modify the existing contract so FCC (Shane) retracked the agreement.
FCC brought in their licensed building contractor, ******* ***** **** also agreed to repair the roof; 70/30% split. 8/9/22 ********** met with us and agreed that a member of FCC would provide 2 proposals in writing to consider; 1) credit amount for 2/3rds of the roof, and 2) a proposal on amount due to amicably terminate the contract. 8/17/22 we received an emailed letter from Attorney Hunter Malin Law demanding payment “now” that we do not contractually owe.

      To Whom This May Concern,

I have listed the brief summary of what has transpired in regard to the Rowan’s project below.

The inspection report from the Rowan’s is ****** ****** brother and is biased.
FCC did a third-party inspection report with Jebco which is attached for your review.
FCC was hired to close up the skylights, add new post and install T&G to the ceiling of the existing roof structure.
FCC did not know of the existing damage to the roof as it was an unforeseen condition. Once FCC started demolition of the skylights, that is when it became aware of the roofs condition.
The Rowan’s did not want to replace the roof, as recommended but rather wanted to do a patch job.
The Rowan’s are now wanting FCC to replace the roof at no additional cost (for Free). The materials and labor would be rather expensive, this is why the clients wanted to patch the roof.
FCC is unable to finish our outstanding task until the roof has been fixed.
FCC was not contracted to do anything with the chimney, replacement of the roof, any water intrusion issues, etc.
FCC was contracted to build a high-end outdoor kitchen, replaces the post supporting the roof fill in the skylights, trim and install T&G ceiling.
The outdoor kitchen is 100% completed and the clients are enjoying the outdoor kitchen.
      The repairs are 100% completed
The T&G and trim materials have been purchased and delivered but not installed. As they need to determine what they will do to remedy the roof first.
      FCC is due $19,530.00 now
After completion of the trim and T&G ceiling FCC is owed $6,510.00
There are two credits of $397.01 (access door in outdoor kitchen no longer wanted) Overpayments on check for $0.62
FCC has endured additional cost for attorney’s fees, Inspection fees and professional time and travel for multiple site visits, inspections, admin cost, etc.

FCC recommendation is for the R****** to remedy the roof
issues with a roofing company of their choice.  Once completed FCC will come back out to finish the work contracted to
      do.
I have attached the outstanding balance below for your
      review.

      Sincerely,

      Florida Coastal Contractors

       ********** ********

I am rejecting this response because:

Florida Coastal Contractors have now committed fraud. The invoice Florida Coastal Contractors have provided in their response is dated 5/3/22. This invoice was never provided to the homeowners, nor would the funds have been due at that time. The permit wasn't granted until 05/23/22 - see attached document Shady Permit and 052322 Email regarding the ceiling TnG being on backorder. (note: An invoice can be created at any time, with any information. This does not show proof the homeowners were invoiced.  Our contract and Change Orders have been DocuSigned showing we have received/agreed/paid them.
