To whom it may concern at BBB:

I have pasted my response made to **** ******** below from a google complaint also made. We are not sure what else we can do. The pictures attached are very clear and have been provided to the client. She refuses to see what is happening despite the obvious issue. I'm not sure how she has decided that we cut the board to far. We have not worked on the siding shown. Additionally, the crack is in the board above the roof by about 7 inches. Her Google complaint and BBB complaints were only made after we told her we could not do any additional work if she was not going to pay her bill. The assessment and bill were sent almost a month ago. We welcome an opposing opinion by a professional and would be happy to meet a professional out there to discuss. However, we can't argue false opinions and statements made of "industry standards" by the client that simply are not true and not supported by any facts. I ask the BBB to consider all the facts before posting this publicly.

**** ********, we are sorry you feel the way you do. We have
tried over and over to explain what’s going on and you just do not want to hear
it. We can’t change our assessment just because its not what you want to hear. We
welcome an alternative assessment by another professional. You signed a clear
contract for the work performed and it is normal business practice to not do
additional work for a client with an outstanding balance. The problem that was
diagnosed and shown in pictures is not a cut board but rather a cracked cement
siding board that has nothing to do with the roof and is not something we cut
or worked on at all. Your gutter guards are working perfectly as they should. The
guards are a cover on top of the gutter so naturally heavy tree debris will sit
on top of the guard and allow water to run through to the gutters.  This is the standard and makes blowing that
debris off easy as opposed to the gutters filling up and clogging. I’m sorry we
have a difference of opinion but mine is based on over 20 years of experience.

     Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because I have reached to Fidus Roofing numerous times, ever since  the roofing and gutter jobs were completed. I have tried my best to work this out respectfully, keeping in mind that things happen and not wanting to hurt the business; this is why I did not submit negative reviews until now. As discussed with office manager, there were issues even during installation, that I should have reported (I apologize for being too nice). Skylights were removed, with debris pushed inside without warning to cover or move belongings, and huge gaping holes left uncovered overnight, compromising both security and providing access to wildlife. Roofers were blaring loud music that was heard for several blocks, resulting in noise complaints from neighbors. Roofers also broke the bird feeder and two outdoor patio chairs. There are still lots of nails in the yard.

Water shields have fallen off within a few days. There is a gaping hole under the roof overhang that is still not fixed, almost two years later, despite numerous calls and emails. While the board cut is not as evident on the side where leak occurred, it's visible in other areas, where roofers nailed boards to hide gaps; this is why I believe that crack was caused by roofers. I have photos from previous roof inspections, showing the difference in distance between roof and masonry board.

Per two Fidus people who came to do the water test, they poured water over the crack. However, that crack is under the roof overhang, so the water is coming from above, from the gutters, which get clogged from just one rain, due to inappropriate installation angles, resulting in water not flowing properly. I did agree that I would pay for the water test if there was clear evidence that Fidus work had nothing to do with it. However, water test did not demonstrate that. Even if we put aside the cause of that crack, for the sake of this argument, Fidus is still responsible as water is flowing from above. We clean gutter guards more frequently now that we had to clean gutters, even with no tree overhang in that area of the house. Most gutter guard descriptions state having to clean a few times a year, not every few weeks. Despite our best efforts, gutters are still overflowing during heavy rains, which has not happened prior to gutter replacement by Fidus, due to improper installation, as already stated.

As I said before, I  am sorry but we have a difference of opinion on this. The roof and gutters are not leaking and are not the problem. Both the roof and gutters are performing as expected. I will continue to honor my offer of meeting another professional at your home to discuss an alternative assessment if they have one. I cannot offer more than that at this time.

     Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: While I am working on securing an independent opinion, as my finances are very limited due to pretty much emptying my savings for the roof replacement, there are several issues are clearly evident even without an expert opinion. I have been asking to fix a gaping hole under the roof line for almost two years now, with numerous text messages, emails, and phone calls. The gutters are hung at an angle that prevents the proper water flow. As you can see from the invoice, deck boards were to be installed; short pieces of wood nailed along the roof line are not professional. I have already mentioned other damage to property which you did not even have courtesy to acknowledge. You have taken advantage of me working out of town and not being able to supervise the project every step of the way. I would like to also see the paperwork for your non-English speaking crew to ensure they were working with proper permits. I have nothing against immigrants working legally as roofing is a tough job, but this family did not speak any English whatsoever and appeared to have all of their belongings in trucks. There are similar Google reviews with a suspicion that crews hired by Fidus Roofing may not have proper permissions. I am very sorry that I chose to do business with your company.

    Regards,
