  In January 2025, BBB contacted Handyman Xtreme regarding claims in its advertising.
  
  Its website makes several references to qualifications for its technicians, such as:
  "Let our certified HMX Technicians get all of those tasks on your “To Do” list for you."  
  "1 Certified crime free technician."
  "Professional & Certified Technicians, Certified, Bonded & Insured."
  Its website also states that "The Nuvo H2O system offers the following advantages to your traditional salt-based system: "FDA-approved."
  According to the BBB Code of Advertising, the primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any objective claims or offers made before publication or broadcast. Upon request, they should present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or BBB.  The business did not provide substantiation for its claims.
  
  Its website states that "Our work is guaranteed and we take great pride in knowing we’ve done it right" and 'The Nuvo H2O system offers the following advantages to your traditional salt-based system: Lifetime warranty." 
  When using the term “guarantee” or "warranty" in product advertising, the advertiser must clearly and conspicuously include a statement that the complete details of the guarantee and/or warranty can be seen prior to sale at the advertiser's location, viewed on the advertiser’s website, or include a basic disclaimer such as 'call for details.' When advertising 'lifetime' warranties or guarantees, the advertisement must clearly and conspicuously disclose its intended meaning of the term 'lifetime.'  The business did not respond to BBB's request that it make adjustments to its advertising.
  
  Its site states "The Nuvo H2O system offers the following advantages to your traditional salt-based system: Reduces sodium in your diet which can add up over time; Costs 2 or 3 times less than the cost for a new conventional salt water softening system."
  "Safer, healthier, eco-friendly, compact, nearly maintenance free, saves your plumbing, affordable for everyone... gives you safe, purified drinking water throughout your home…"
  Claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data. The business did not provide substantiation for these claims.
