Design works installed a porcelain outdoor kitchen countertop and backsplash for my client. Several weeks later, my client contacted me because a crack had developed in the backsplash coming from the outlet hole cutout. Design works agreed to fix the issue by installing another piece of material over the cracked backsplash. Several weeks later the crack developed again in the new piece in the same exact spot. I reached out again to Design Works and explained the situation. I suggested that we redo the entire countertop and backsplash in granite as it is less fragile and they agreed and said "we want to make this right" and would cover the cost and asked me to go ahead and pic out the new material for my client. After I sent them the material choice, they contacted me as said they would not be fixing the issue and they told me that the crack was not caused by them. At first they said that the crack was caused my the hood install, then they said that it was caused by the electrician. I explained to them that they had already taken responsibility and told me they would fix the issue. But they went back on their word and will now not resolve the issues. It's unfortunate for them because I know that I am one of their top ************************************************************************************************************************ as a customer. I will be having a different vendor replace the countertop and backsplash and I would like Design Works to cover the cost or provide a refund for what I paid them for the countertop and backsplash.

On June 10, 1924, I received a quote from ** ******* to order backsplash tiles. Shortly after that, I placed the order for $1597.52. When the tiles arrived on June 29, I picked them up and quickly realized there was quite a color difference from the tile I had chosen. On June 30, I emailed ** to inform him of the discrepancy and asked him to return the tiles, expecting to pay the 25% restocking fee. On July 1, he told me that there were no returns on special order tiles. This is the first time I heard that these tiles were special order. I did not see anything on the order or on **'s quote denoting special order status. I then received a second email from ** stating that he would ask that the tiles be taken back, which would incur a restocking fee. On July 5, he emailed me that the vendor would not take the tiles back. I was highly disappointed. Around that same time, my health was deteriorating very quickly, and on July 6, I was admitted to the hospital for most of July. The month of August was spent recovering. On August 31, I was filing the receipt and read the terms on it. I noticed again there was no mention of this being a special order, and it was never stated to me verbally. I again reached out to ** and ***** once more. ***** answered that where it says freight in I should have known that it was special order. How would I know that? If ** had taken care of this in June, there might have been a completely different outcome, as I would have bought new tiles from Design Works. However, as there wasnt any effort to help me, I was not willing to give additional commission or profit to Design Works; I bought a new tile at ********, which was surprising by my experience with Design Works. I also believe that I communicated with ** well within the 30-day cut-off that ***** references in her emails, and ** should have requested an RMA in June. The invoice #****** shows the tile shipped from Design Works in ********, not from the manufacturer.

Hired Design works for kitchen, laundry room powder room and 2 guest bathroom cabinet remodel, final contract signed 6-22. Work done in 2023 and multiple issues noted. I met with them last February/March to discuss concerns. The wrong doors were ordered, kitchen and laundry room were supposed be Full slab doors. ** tried to resolve this issue by putting up a light rail in both areas. The light rail in the kitchen has mitered corners which do not meet and they attempted to caulk these. In the laundry room they put up raw wood that they attempted to paint but the grain could still be seen. This was repainted again but in a different color of the cabinets. The kitchen is two toned and the finish called blackened oak has white streaks throughout the cabinets. The appliance/pantry wall needed to be redone because their designer did not measure correctly. The bottom of this area has different levels and the appliance doors are warped. A lazy ***** was paid for but not installed until recently however only one shelf rather than 2 were installed. A new project manager was assigned but now the communication on their end has ceased. I will include pictures but feel free to call for any needed clarification. My desired resolution is for them make this look like a professional job not a DIY project.
