We hired Above the Rest Tree Service on 10/20/22, which was when the work began. They did an amazing job while they were here but couldn't finish since they said their crane was out of service at that present time. I've repeatedly called or messaged Jeff, the owner, with little or no response. On 11/8, Jeff texted and said the crane was fixed but there had been a family emergency. Would have been nice if there was communication but a lack thereof seems to be their MO. They also took a video of our tree being cut down which shows our home and placed that on Facebook without our permission. However, the main issue is no communication and never came back to finish the job.Business Response

Thank you for reaching out. However, when Jeff, the owner or so he said, received my complaint from the Better Business Bureau on 11/30, he sent me a text that evening and his workers came out the next day and completed the job very satisfactorily. With that said, the contract stated that x amount of dollars was due upon completion of the job. Jeff was then going to charge me more than what the contract stated for tax where he didn't charge for my other two payments I had previously made on 10/20. To make a very long story short, he threatened to call police and have them show up at my door if I didn't make the payment that evening and proceeded to say that once this transaction was done, he never wanted to hear from me again and hung up the phone. If the contract included tax, that wouldn't have been a problem, however, it did not. Again, total amount due was X amount of dollars, nothing more, nothing less. His workers are absolutely amazing and did their job in excellence but Jeff, on the other hand, is a different story.Initial Complaint

On 8/18/22 I hired this company to remove 2 trees from my front yard and grind the stumps. The job was done on 8/19/22, and due to weather and other issues, we werent able to start the cleanup on those areas for another week or so. I realized then that a large part of one of the root ball did not get touched by the stump grinder and there's now a large pointed piece of wood sticking up out of the ground. I made my first contact with the company on 9/7 to advise the job was not done completely, and was told they would get me on the schedule. I have since then spoken with someone 4 times (9/13, 9/19, 9/20, 9/23)- each time being told they would get me on the schedule, left 2 messages (9/15, 9/22) and sent pictures via text of the issue (9/19)- not once has anyone called me back or followed up with me to actually get me on the schedule. Any contact is because I've had to continuously call, but they do not seem interested in actually rectifying the situation. I live in Jacksonville, FL and they are based out of counties an hour or more away from me, so I understand it isnt convenient to come all the way back up here to complete my job, but I paid almost $3000 for this service- and if they found it beneficial to sell their services up here, then this should be part of the cost of doing business out of your area. I have been patient, but they have given me no indication that they care about the poor work that was done, or that they have any interest in doing the right thing. I understand there was a hurricane in FL last week, but my last conversation was w/ Matt on 9/23, and I havent heard from anyone since. We can't mow over this area as the root will damage the mower, and it is so pointed that someone could get injured if they fell on it. We are unable to do any landscaping until this is done. Im not asking for anything special, I just want the job that I paid for completed.Business Response

On July 25,2022,Tim, from Above the Rest Tree Service quoted me $1,000 to trim my 3 Ligustrum trees down 2 feet so that they were 1 foot above fence level. A cleanup of my Queen Palm was included in this quote. On July 26th the crew arrived and *** wanted to add the clean up of my White Pine Tree for another $600. I approved the addition. The crew worked for about 2 hours and *** came to my door and said they were finishing up the job, and he needed payment.. When I inspected the job they did I found that they hadn't trimmed the bushes down like I requested. They trimmed the fronts of the bushes but left the back of the Ligustrum standing. They also hadn't trimmed the dead wood and seed pods out of the Queen Palm. There were 2 branches trimmed off the White Pine Tree, but the rest of the Pine tree was left as is. They had also destroyed my fence and ran over the bushes in front of the Ligustrum Trees. The tree and bush trimmings were left on the ground and I had to dispose of them. I called *** on and he said he would take care of it. On 3 different occasions I called and *** said he would return the next day, but they never showed.Business Response

The pictures of the damage. Unfinished work,and tree debris left on property were submitted with my complaint. I see no reason to send them again. This is just another stall tactic by Above the Rest Tree Service. I was forced to hire another tree service to fix the unfinished work. I expect s refund from Above the Rest Tree Service. I've already sent these pictures to them twice and was told the work would be finished 3 times but they have never followed through.Business Response

I contacted Above the Rest Tree Service for a quote on 7.12.22, I needed some palm trees removed, a couple of trees and branches (total of 7 trees), was told they were going to grind stumps, remove tips, etc. They were supposed to do the work on 7.14 however I got a call on 7.13 that they had a cancelation and could come out to do the job then, I agreed since I work from home. They came in, asked if they could remove one side of the fence to fit their machines, I agreed b/c they said they would put it back as they found it. Got everything done, or to I thought, they leave, later on I let my dogs out as I always do, when I go looking for them, they were in front of the house because they did not nail the fence back as it was, instead just laid it against the poles and left. Had to get my father to help me tie it with ropes, as it stands right now. Couple of days later my neighbor calls me and says she has tree branches on her side, Above the rest didn't say anything to me about leaving the branches or needing to retrieve the branches. I had to go get them off her property and put them in my back yard. At the same time I noticed there were 3 stumps that didn't get grinded all the way, I still have half of the stumps on the ground. Have been calling non stop and either they don't answer, their voice mail is full and when I did get a hold of someone, I was promised that they would have someone come take care of the problem the following week. That week also went by, I kept calling, finally got a hold of someone. They sent someone with a truck to pick up the branches but he couldn't do the stumps because he didn't have to grinding machine. He said I was on the "roster" and someone would be by later with the machine to finish the job which never happened. I have called and called since and again, either I get no answer or they say they will have someone call me back and they don't and if they do, they tell me whatever they want to say to get me off the phone.
