    I had to pay $1600 out of pocket in mid-December of 2023 for temporary dentures. The dentures were made too big for my mouth. I expressed my dissatisfaction with the product. The dentist in charge told me she knows the teeth are too big. When I asked for dentures that do fit, she told me she could not make a new set because that would be a cosmetic issue, and not a clinical issue.By the next time I came in for an appointment, the bottom teeth of the dentures had started moving around so much that now I cannot speak well, eat correctly, and liquids fall from my mouth. I asked the dentist to help me. She told me there was nothing she could do unless I pay out of pocket $310 more to possibly fix the mistake.I went to a nearby dentist called Shuayb Dentistry to see if they could help. They told me since they did not make the teeth, they would have to charge me $300 to make the teeth fit my mouth. And they asked why Smile Design is not helping me. I have low income, and I am mentally disabled. Now I cannot speak or eat or drink, and I look very old with my teeth all extracted. So, I force myself to wear these big clunky teeth that move around in my mouth.Smile Design called me a few days ago to tell me they will not be providing me service any longer. I am very sad. My son, ********************* is very sad too. He has been helping me with all of this. I authorize him to speak to anyone about this complaint.

    Hello,

    We reviewed your complaint, and understand your frustrations.  In reviewing your records, we have your signed consent for the "immediate" (temporary) dentures that includes verbiage around the dentures loosening as your gums heal after extractions, esthetics and the need for a final denture in addition to your immediate dentures. 

    Records indicate that a soft reline was completed, and the doctor also addressed your concern with the look and size of the teeth with you and your son, in that it is a cosmetic issue and it would be addressed with your final set of dentures.  It's also noted the doctor discussed the loose fit of the dentures to which a lab reline was offered and you declined, as well as you son stating not to move forward with a final (permanent) set of dentures.

    In regards to being dismissed form the practice, unfortunately due to the unprofessionalism shown by your son at your visits, the doctor thought it was best to dismiss you as a patient.
