    Complaint: 22845450

I am rejecting this response because:

    Dear BBB Authorities,

I would like to clarify that with Mr. ****** *********** company, Sinter Form Designs, I have been working with that company. Which is then advertised that is now part of the Printera family. While Mr. ********* mentioned that Sinter Form Designs is no longer active, I checked the status of the company through the Florida Business website and found that ******************* is still listed as an active entity. I have attached a screenshot for your reference.

Apart from that, the total area of the house has never been 1600 sq/ft. When Mr. ********* initially gave me the price, he calculated it based on 50x30=1500 sq/ft. However, since this square footage seemed too small to me, the project was never drawn based on this size, and the price was set at $21. I am also attaching a screenshot of this. Therefore, it still doesnt add up to $64,000. Additionally, 50' x 38' equals 1900 sq/ft. I suggest whoever wrote this answer use a calculator. Or perhaps they are intentionally providing incorrect numbers to confuse everyone and slip away from the issue. The repeated use of incorrect numbers makes me question whether there is an intentional attempt to confuse or mislead, rather than an honest mistake. This is a serious concern and warrants further investigation. I can't think of any other possibility.

More, I would like to express my disappointment with the way businesses in the **** sometimes try to avoid responsibility by dissolving companies after entering into agreements, only to start a new company and distance themselves from any prior obligations. Its unfortunate that this practice seems to be common in some sectors, and it has certainly caused significant frustration and confusion in my case.

I would like to continue by clarifying that the current total square footage of the house is officially ***** sq/ft, not the ***** sq/ft previously mentioned. If you refer to the original complaint I submitted along with the attachments, you will see that after Mr. ****** ********* provided me with the 50' x 38' calculation, he clearly stated that the cost would be $20 per square foot. However, if Mr. ********* is now attempting to manipulate the calculations and deny the facts, I must say that I am now highly skeptical of the businesses he operates. I have provided all the necessary evidence to back my claims.
Furthermore, I would like to share my thoughts on the matter. It may be normal for an architect to not memorize the exact square footage of a schematic design they have drawn, but the overall inconsistency in Mr. ********** statements and his inability to provide clear, reliable information is deeply troubling. His inability to stand behind what he says raises serious concerns.

Regarding the tax issue, I clearly recall that he stated the price of $20 per square foot included taxes but excluded transportation costs. I took a screenshot of that email, and once I locate it, I will add it here. In short, there is no valid explanation for the price per square foot being increased from $20 to $29.78.
I am providing you with all the evidence to support my claims. On the other hand, their responses either contain incorrect numbers or simply repeat my statements without offering any new information.

To summarize: I agreed to work with Mr. ********* because he quoted me a price of $20 per square foot, including tax. Despite the high cost, I accepted the schematic design price because I wanted to continue the project with them. After the schematic design was completed, I hired engineers to further develop the project, and I spent an additional $5,810 on my dream homes plans. However, they then broke their promise by increasing the price, and I had to abandon the project. The total amount I have spent is $10,710. Again, I want to emphasize that the reason I abandoned the project was Mr. ********** almost 50% price increase.

The money I spent on this project is entirely wasted. I am requesting that Mr. ********* return half of this amount, $5,355, along with the legal interest. The other half I will consider as my loss. If we cannot reach a settlement within 15 days, my lawyer will contact them, and my claim will include $10,710 plus all legal fees. I have agreed with my lawyer that we will split any recovery from this claim on a 50/50 basis. For your reference.

Thank you for your time and consideration, and I look forward to your response.

    Sincerely,

    ****** *** Dinc

, and I accepted the $4,980 schematic design offer despite its higher price.Due to their change in pricing, I am now abandoning the project for a house with 3D-printed walls. I have incurred nearly $11,000 in losses as a result.I still have all the emails from ****** *********, and I can provide them as evidence.I am now proceeding with a traditional project using concrete block walls, but I am requesting that my losses be compensated by ****** ********************** formerly known as *******************, is now operating under the name Printera 3D, co-owned by ****** ********* and ****** ********.I kindly ask for a thorough investigation into this matter.Sincerely,****** *** Dinc

    Business Response

    Date: 02/07/2025

    Dear BBB **********************,

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We appreciate the opportunity to clarify the situation regarding Mr. ****** *** ****s experience. It is important to note that Mr. **** entered into an agreement with Sinter Form Designs and not with Printera. ******************* was dissolved in late 2023, and Printera is a completely separate company. Mr. **** has never signed any contracts or entered into any agreement with Printera, and as such, he is not a customer of ours. The complaint appears to be based on a misunderstanding regarding the companies involved, and we believe it is important to clarify this distinction.

Mr. **** signed a contract with ******************* on March 13, 2023, for the schematic design of a 3D-printed home, for which he paid a total of $4,980. This contract was solely for the schematic design, and no further services such as architectural documentation, structural engineering, or construction were included. The schematic design was completed by April 11, 2023, and the terms of the contract were fully met at that time. After completing the schematic design, we informed Mr. **** that in order to proceed with the permitting process, he would need to hire an architect or engineer, as those services were not part of the agreement. We informed him that we would continue communication and answer any questions he or the others he brings onto the project might have.

Sinter Form Designs was dissolved before Printera was formed, and ****** *********, the founder of *******************, became the *** of Printera. After the formation of Printera, Mr. ********* reached out to Mr. **** to inform him of the change in company and to provide some approximate pricing for 3D printing services, including the cost of exterior walls, which was based on a previous project with a ***** square foot home. When Mr. **** was ready for construction we could then create a contract for the scope but would require the finalized design with structural information in order to create this contract and quote. However, it is crucial to clarify that Mr. ****s contract was with Sinter Form Designs (for schematic design only), and he never entered into any contractual agreement with Printera. Therefore, Printera is not responsible for the issues raised in Mr. ****s complaint.

The pricing Mr. ********* provided to Mr. **** was based on a 50' x 38' footprint, which was approximately a ***** square foot home, and included an estimated cost of $38,000 for 3D-printed exterior walls ONLY. However, Mr. ****s planned home is ***** square feet, which is larger and includes additional elements, such as two large interior printed walls, a kitchen island, two interior columns, and two exterior columns. These additional features would naturally lead to increased costs compared to the example approximation provided for a smaller home. Additionally, the estimate did not include taxes, shipping, or any other potential costs, which were to be determined separately based on the final design and location.

While we understand that Mr. **** is dissatisfied with the pricing, it is important to emphasize that his agreement was solely with Sinter Form Designs and the contract was fulfilled nearly a year ago. Since Printera is a separate entity and Mr. **** has never entered into any agreement with Printera, we are unable to offer compensation or address the issues raised in his complaint.

We hope this clarification helps resolve any misunderstandings regarding the different companies involved. Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.

    Sincerely,
    ****** *********

    Business Response

    Date: 02/10/2025

Good afternoon, so that everything is made clear and there is no confusion I will respond to each paragraph separately.

    1) Yes *** **** was a contracted client of Sinter Form Designs as of March 13, 2023. The contract only included schematic design. On April 11, 2023 *** **** paid the final invoice for the contracted work and ******************* contracted obligation was completed. Yes, the team of 1 (****** *********) is now working for Printera but in no way does that make Sinter Form Designs a part of Printera, legally. Yes the status of Sinter Form Designs is active on ****** but as you will see from the attachment the company was dissolved in 2023 tax filing. The only reason it still shows as active on ****** is because I did not pay extra to have it removed; however, by not renewing this year the company will automatically be changed to inactive.

    2) When the original email was sent about pricing approximation it was 3 months before *** **** signed a contract or even began speaking about his home design. The approximations made in that email were based off of a previous house we had done. It would have been impossible to estimate *** ****s home as it was not even designed yet. The 50 foot x 38 foot printing of only exterior walls was based off of a home that we had done that fit in that footprint but was ***** square feet. This was only ever used as an example and not a quote for his house, that was not even designed yet. The price is only set in contracts the emails *** **** is referencing were approximations based on EXTERIOR WALLS ONLY of a 1600 square foot home. In addition these emails are from 2 years before *** **** reached out for construction. No contractor can guarantee that pricing for materials will stay the same in that large of a gap between contracts. *** **** please keep in mind that a 50 foot by 38 foot footprint does not mean the entire house fits within that, this area can include front yard or carport/driveway which is why within this footprint the home is only ***** square feet in size. It is not my intention to confuse anyone with numbers so I hope this explanation helps you understand the math.

    3) I understand your disappointment with U.S. companies but lets stay on topic and not bring in what other companies are doing. ******************* was dissolved because the owner, ****** *********, was offered a COO position at Printera due to his experience and expertise. Once he accepted the offer he could not also run his own company so he dissolved the business to join an existing company, Printera. When the company was dissolved in 2024 (by submitting my taxes for 2023), *** **** was no longer a client as his contract was completed on April 11, 2023. ****** ********* reached out to all existing clients to inform them that the company was closed and if they would like to continue they would be require to sign contracts with Printera moving forward. We had two existing clients at the time and so far only one signed a Printera contract for continued work.

    4) Your home design under air is ***** square feet however, your home includes more than just what is under air (meaning air conditioned space). If you include the garage and patios the home design we created totals ***** square feet. As stated previously the approximation was made 3 months prior to having any information about *** ****s final home design and specified 3D printed exterior walls only. *** ****s final home design included 3D printed exterior walls, 3D printed interior walls, kitchen island and columns for both the exterior and interior. In addition this is also an approximation from 2022 and it is now 2025, with no contract we can not guarantee pricing from our supplies will not change in that time span. Which in turn will of course increase our final price. I am not attempting to manipulate the calculations or deny them but you have to stop comparing this price to your home as the email is clearly not an estimate for your house.

    5) Just to clarify, ****** ********* is not an Architect and has never advertised as such. He has a Bachelors in Architecture and a Masters in Advance Architecture but is not a licensed Architect and therefore he does not call himself or tell others that he is an Architect. I stand behind what I said however, *** **** keeps choosing to only mention a portion of the sentence and not the entire sentence which will lead to a misunderstanding on his end. The pricing was an approximation based on a smaller home footprint and exterior wall printing only, this approximations were also done before a design was ever created for *** **** so they did not reference his home.

    6) I have never included Taxes in any approximation or estimate. There is a very valid explanation to why the price per square foot has increased. The price you are referring to is based on a smaller home than yours and for exterior walls only, which does not include additional features that your design has such as; interior walls, kitchen island and columns. Lastly this email is an approximation based on pricing from 2022 and it was not until August 1, 2024 that *** **** had finalized drawings from an engineer ready for use to quote. Lastly this approximation was from Sinter Form Designs the quote you received is from Printera, these are two separate companies that are not legally connected.

    7) *** **** you only agreed to what was in the contract that you signed with *******************, which is a separate company from Printera. The contract only stated the price for schematic design and only included services for schematic design. The email you are referring to for $20 per square foot was not only based on a home that was not yours but was also based on Sinter Form Designs pricing NOT Printeras. In your own words I accepted the schematic design price because I wanted to continue the project with them. After the schematic design was completed, I hired engineers to further develop the project. In your own words you admit to the completion of the schematic design which is the only obligation Sinter Form Designs had according to the contract you signed. Sinter Form Designs or ****** ********* is not responsible for your decision or loses related to you hiring and paying an engineering firm.

    8) I would argue that the money you spent is not entirely wasted. You contracted Sinter Form Designs for a schematic design and that is what you received. We had several design reviews with you and you never complained about the design or told us you were unhappy with the results. The design and subsequent engineering drawings you had can still be used to build your dream home since the design is not specific to 3D printing. Since it is designed as a post and beam system you can still use all your documents to build your home through traditional means (concrete block).

    In Summary:
    - Printera is not Sinter Form Designs. They are two completely separate companies that happen to have one employee in common. However, by the time ****** ********* was employed with Printera his prior company, *******************, was dissolved.
    - *** **** has never signed a contract with Printera and therefore has never been a client of Printera. Therefore we *** **** does not have a contract dispute with Printera.
    - The email *** **** continues to reference is an approximation of cost based on a previous project and only accounts for 3D printed exterior walls. This is not a quote for his house as it was not designed at this time.
    - No pricing had ever included Taxes and *** **** failed to provide any evidence to the contrary.
    - ************** services from Sinter Form Designs were for schematic design and did not include any construction services or pricing.
    - *** **** himself stated in his previous response that he signed a contract for schematic design and the contract was completed. Since he filed this as a contract dispute with BBB then this should provide sufficient evidence that the contract was completed and all criteria met.
