I hired Onshore Roofing Specialist to complete a re-roof of my home in 3/2021. The work was completed. 10/6/21. In May of 2022, I noted that the pointing of the ridge caps was cracking along the length of the ridge line. I contacted Onshore Roofing 5/13/22 and asked that they inspect the roof and fix the damage, I have 39 emails between myself and Onshore asking that they fix the issue. Onshore finally sent someone to inspect the roof 11/2/22, and a second person inspected the roof 11/8/22. On 12/5/22, the Onshore Roofing ***************** Manager informed me, "When I spoke to a field supervisor about your work order on Friday he told me that the crack on the ridge is a settlement issue and not warranty. I am going to check with another to see what they say. I'll let you know what I have found out.My home is over 30 years old, and the chance of my home settling in such a way that it woudl cause the roof pointing to crack is extremely remote. I paid, $24,780.00 for the re-roof. I desire Onshore Roofing to acknowledge this failure was due to workmanship, remove all ridge caps with cracked pointing, remove existing pointing and redo the pointing. Simply patching the pointing is not acceptable.

As we have told Mr. *********** this is not a workmanship issue and that this is a settlement issue and is not covered under warranty. We have sent a couple repair crews out to look at this issue and both crews have reports back stating this is not a workmanship issue and not covered under warranty. There is nothing else we can do for ************** at this time.

I am rejecting this response because: The claim by Onshore Roofing is not realistic. As stated, this is not a new home, and for the business to believe that the house suddenly settled, causing pointing to crack is unreasonable. The fact that I have cracks along the ridge caps makes my roof much more susceptible to damage due to winds, and subsequent leaking.  My research indicates the most likely cause of the ridge cap pointing cracking was improper installation, specifically that the tiles were not wetted during installation, allowing the concrete to cure too fast.

    Sincerely,

    *********************

Onshore Roofing completed my $26,000 roof April 2022. Since then we developed a leak caused by a poor quality job from the start. I have called Onshore roofing, provided pictures/videos, and followed back up to check on the status. After 3 months of calling and documentation of the issue, the warranty department came out and fixed the problem. I have called about the quality of the work and I have heard NOTHING back! Onshore roofing placed a 10 minute patch job on my $26,000 metal roof after waiting months to get them out. It didnt fix the issue and it looks awful! Description of leak: towards the front of the house there is a peak. This peak leads to the foyer of the home. When it rains, water goes in behind the hardi-plank siding and into the soffit of the garage instead of going into the gutter like it should. This will lead to costly repairs on my behalf like mold and wood rot because this business did a poor job replacing my metal roof and not upholding the 10-year warranty leak-free guarantee. I wouldnt recommend this company to anyone.
