I have been renting under lease from this company since May 2021. I paid $3,300.00 of past due/current rent fees to the clerk of courts between September 15 and September 26, 2022, bringing my balance to $0.00. The company broke my lease and settled in court for the option to force me to vacate on or by 11/15/2022. The company is demanding payment of $1,306.00 from me before the end of my lease in attempt to force me to pay charges that I am under no obligation to pay. The company has provided terrible customer service and living conditions since the beginning of my lease term. Even after the conditions were reported to code enforcement, the landlord did little to nothing to improve the safety and maintenance of my unit. There was a hearing on October 6, 2022 in which a judgment was made for my family to surrender our unit on November 16, 2022 with no additional payment outside of partial rent for the month of November. I agreed to forfeit $425.00 of my security deposit towards that balance however I disputed all other charges. Late fees were removed but the landlord is still attempting to force me to pay for their legal fees with no court order. I was only ordered in court to vacate the unit and pay half of November rent. I am afraid that the landlord is going to fraudulently report these charges to the credit Bureaus. Landlord has presented no proof or record of my obligation to pay any legal fees for the court case. This settlement was made with a unanimous agreement that eviction will be suspended on the contingency that I obey signed judge’s orders. I have not violated any court rulings in this case. Landlord is attempting to charge me 1,831.00 in fees that I do not owe. I believe that the landlord will attempt to fraudulently report this balance to the credit bureaus. This amount needs to be adjusted.
