8/20/24- Air conditioner technician, **** of Tank A/C came to my home due to my service call. The outside unit was not working (the fan could be observed not moving). He said the problem was a bad "cap," (short for capacitor). To fix it, I needed a hard start relay kit and a capacitor. I agreed to his price of $931.50 and he did the repairs.9/19/24- I made a service call to Tank A/C for the same problem. A different technician was dispatched. I accompanied him the entire time he was on the property, we both observed the fan not moving. His diagnosis was a bad ********** he quoted me a repair price that I didn't agree with. I was charged $99.95 for the service call.9/20/24- I made a service call to *********************. The technician was dispatched to my home the repair was done by replacing the capacitor. The technician informed me that the hard start relay kit (that I'd previously been charged for), was not necessary. He also questioned whether technician **** (8/20/2024), replaced the capacitor or only installed the hard start kit to make the bad capacitor (already on unit) work.

On our first visit we found the compressor was not kicking on, so we replaced the capacitor.

After a month or we were called for a 2nd visit. The outdoor fan motor was not working but we addressed that as a separate issue.

We have to charge a service call fee for each new issue, there is no warranty for new issues.

The main problem is that he had an unlicensed contractor install the unit, we believe that is why he is having these issues.

There would be no labor warranty with our business since we did not install it, and and since it was an unlicenesed installer there would be no warranties onthe unit or labor.

    Complaint: 20499085

I am rejecting this response because:
I thought a second opinion from an independent air-conditioning company on June 8, 2023 the senior technician in specialized equipment to confirm that the ** dye which I was charge for was never used. Moreover, my unit was visibly spewing Freon a concern that tank air conditioning failed to adequately address and then charged me. However, he wanted to put more freon inside the unit.

    Discoveries Post Service:

*************************, the technician who executed the Repair claim to be license. Subsequent interactions with representatives from state regulators revealed that the technician, ***** is unlicensed. ***** should not have been working on my unit unsupervised. The company owner is the one that holds the license yet hes never on-site to supervise the work of unlicensed workers. Engaging in contract to work without the appropriate license, jeopardizes the safety of consumers in their assets. This unlicensed operation has potential legal implications and concerns for homeowners who rely on professional and license service.

Violation of Trust and State laws: Not only did I pay for unrendered services, but I was also not informed about the licensing status of the technician, *************************. In ******* knowingly, hiring or functioning as an unlicensed contractor is illegal.

    Sincerely,

ment. I have a detailed video showing this.Contention:Dishonesty and Fraud by Tank Air Conditioning:The actions of Tank Air Conditioning were not only unprofessional but also blatantly fraudulent. Charging a customer for a service not rendered is a grave breach of trust and professional ethics. The fact that the leak was clearly visible makes their claim of applying ** dye even more egregious.Consumer Deception:I was taken advantage of due to my limited knowledge in the realm of AC repairs. This exploitation is a ***** testament to Tank Air Conditioning's lack of integrity and willingness to deceive unsuspecting consumers.Thank you for your attention to this pressing issue. I am prepared to provide all necessary evidence, documents, video, and testimonies to assist in your inquiry.Warm regards,************************* P.S. This incident has caused significant financial and emotional distress. I hope that swift action will be taken to prevent such deceptive practices in the future.

To whom it may concern, ************** arrived at the customer's home to perform a diagnostic and found that the customer had a leak somewhere in the ** unit. The protocol is to search for the leak. The method used was to add R410A, dye injection, and easy seal. The customer was told that if this easy seal doesn't work we will be able to find out where the leak was located due to the dye injection being visible with our UV light. The customer insisted that we locate the leak instead of replacing the unit. The customer understood that this was just a procedure that had to be implemented first. The leak at the time was not detected as the unit ran for a number of days the micron leak became more apparent. The customer decided to go with another company. The customer was charged for the Refrigerant, dye injection, and easy seal in order to start the process of of finding the leak. We explained everything to the customer on process of the repair. She understood the work order and signed it. We emphasized that she should replace the unit. She wanted to try to fix it. The customer called another company and of course the other company will say anything to get her to pay them. We did what the customer wanted. We have to pay for the refrigerant, dye injection, easy seal, and the technician who performed the work.

To whom it may concern, The customer has no legal understanding how a licensed business works. We did everything that the customer asked us to do on our work order. We also take copyies amount of pictures showing footage of the work being performed. We always cover ourselves by logging everything we do by taking photos of the work performed. Everything was annotated and uploaded in our system. The customer has been deceived by another company.

We purchased a brand new Rheem 3 ton AC package unit was installed by Tank approximately 2-1/2 years ago, 8/2/2020. Sometime in early February 2023, the unit stopped blowing cold air. **** was contacted and came out on Saturday, Feb 11th to make a service call, to determine the problem. According to Tank, no Freon was found in the unit, indicating a significant leak. I agreed for Tank to load 16 oz of Freon and perform a sniffer test to locate the leak for $415. Within less than 30 minutes, Tank indicated that the leak was found in the condensing coil. Tank stated that the new coil and filter dryer would be provided by the manufacturer free of charge because the unit had a 10 year warranty. **** stated that their labor to replace the condensing coil, including 93 oz of Freon and filter dryer would be $3200.I contacted Cool Today on Monday, Feb 13th to get a second opinion. Cool Today stated that their price to replace the condensing coil with Freon and filter dryer was estimated at $2300-2400. Without asking and at no charge Cool Today ran pressurized nitrogen through the unit and within 5 min found a significant leak in a 1/4" copper pipe, not located in the condensing coil, which is a major difference. The leak found by Cool Today could be both heard and felt by running your finger in front of it.Cool Today indicated that they could repair the leaky 1/4 copper pipe, fully reload Freon (93 oz) and install a new filter dryer for approximately $1295, plus provide a 2 year warranty for their work. Cool Today repaired the unit in less than 3 hours on same date.Tank misdiagnosed the leak. I requested a refund of the $415 paid, which was denied. I told Tank that I didnt have a problem paying a standard service fee for making a house visit on Saturday, Feb 11th. But, didnt think it fair they charge me for the sniffer test, which was a complete misdiagnosis that took less than 1 hour, and almost cost me an additional $3200, for a relatively new A/C Unit.

This response was taken verbally by BBB:

I told the customer that if I needed to do a full leak search I needed to either inject dye or do a nitrogen pressure check . The customer told me to just use the leak detector (sniffer) because he didn't want to spend more money on the leak search. A leak detector will only give a vicinity. In order to be more exact, we would have need to do a dye injection and the customer would have had to approve the cost for that, which he was not willing to do.

    Complaint: 18191406

I am rejecting this response because:

He mentioned that our unit had not been serviced properly when in fact we have it serviced every 6 months to a year.  We told this to the technician that came out.  We had complete service by another company on 3-17-2022 and UV lights installed on 3-31-2022.  Because he told the home warranty company this they would not pay the labor fees which made it convenient for them to price ***** us terribly.  Also he stated he came to our home when in fact he should have closed the business.  I guess he felt that he was doing us a major favor when in fact we paid dearly.    Originally he was suppose to be out the day before but cancelled and made it for 9-27-2022.  I was getting prescriptions when husband called to tell me the costs and since my husband is on a ****** and was getting back surgery on 10-3-2022 he was worried about what would happen to me.  Think all people need to understand their blatant lies before they do business with this company.

    Loralyn  *****

    Sincerely,

income and I contacted warranty company and they said because we had already paid it was after the fact. They would never have paid that amount to them to service the air conditioning. I have contacted myfloridalegal about price gouging and also abuse of the elderly. Tank air conditioning would not do anything until we paid it up front. I also paid ***** for service call in agreement with Select warranty. I plan on contacting Channel 8 about this as well. This is such a horrible situation and no one else should have to go through this. If nothing else I will be contacting a lawyer about this company.

To whom it may concern,  The warranty company you hired  will only cover equipment that has been  on a regular maintenance program.  Unfortunately the unit was not maintenance and the motor prematurely failed due to lack of  maintenance.  You have a motor that doesn't cover labor or warranty handling fees.  I understand everything seems to be higher in price.  The price is reasonable due to super inflation and we explained to you how there has been a parts shortage. Moreover we were there at your house. When we should of been shut down due to a hurricane approaching.  We hope that this helps you and if you have any questions please feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience.
