Wellcare required preauthorization for even the most routine drug. My doctor prescribed cyclobenzaprine for a "gardening" backache and it took 2 days to clear all the hurdles BY PAYING CASH OUT OF POCKET because they did not review their own paperwork for 2 days, while I alternate ice and heat and wait in pain. I had to make several calls that resolved nothing.WellCare Health Plans, Inc.

Hello. We apologize for the dissatisfaction that you
experienced. The plan attempted to contact the member regarding their concerns
and member did not want to speak to us. The member was then sent an email

I understand that Wellcare has a process for addressing dissatisfied customers, but that process does not ameliorate the problem - which is Wellcare likes to save money by denying service.Review fromDeborah P

My complant is with WellCare a medicare presciption drug plan. I would not even give one star to this company. I am in need of a certain medication and this company has denied it under fales pretense claiming my dr. did not send in all the information needed. After checking with my dr. all information was faxed to them but they are denying it. This medication is very important to my health and well being. I tryed to find out who does the denial process and made it all the way to a supervisor who did not even know the meaning of my cardiovascular disease no one did. So i asked how could they denie me coverage if no one even new the disease I have. How can people like this be incharge of the medicare drug plans. So now it is being appealed for the third time to a third party company that can take up to 90 days. I need to get this prescription expedited as soon as possibile since this company has been playing around with it for weeks now so they don't have to pay for it. I would appreciate any help with this issue. I want people to be aware of this company and how they unfairly operate to deny coverage.WellCare Health Plans, Inc.

On June 1st I went into Wegmans to fill a prescription. I learned at that time that my Wellcare policy had been cancelled on May 31st? I went home immediately and called Wellcare. They explained that the reason for my termination was because I had not paid the $2.30 premium for 5 months- I was CANCELLED and they will NOT reinstate! I explained that there should not be any problem because it was being taken directly out of my social security so this must obviously be a mistake. I have had my part D plan deducted from my social security for the last 10 years that I have been collecting. She checked and said that it was not be taken out? I had done it online and my husband’s was checked for automatic deductions but they said mine had not been checked. I have no doubt that it had to be some glitch. I would never do one without the other. Over the last few months, I did receive one text message and several phone calls from Wellcare stating that “ Your coverage will be cancelled “….I ignored because I was sure that it was a SCAM. Wellcare claims that a letter was sent to me on April 3rd stating that I owed $6.90 which I told them I never received. A 2nd letter went out on May 31st which I did receive but that was my final letter I spoke to Abbey in the presidential department on Friday June 6th and she said that she will see this goes to the “escalation department “ and ask that I receive a “Good Cause Reinstatement “ Promised to call me back next business day but I never heard from her. This is nothing more than an honest mistake. I am starting to believe this is just an excuse to drop members of this drug plan!WellCare Health Plans, Inc.

This is the WORST COMPANY I have ever delt with, 3-4 time a week calling and wanting to go over how we take our medication, do we need assistance using the bathroom, do we feel safe in our house, do we need a ride to the Dr office to compleat there suggested exams. Have called twice to be removed from there useless phone call add, e-mails adds and US mail fliers. I'm 67 yrs old, diabetic who does dr visits every 3 to 6 months as needed to stay healthy but they keep coming up with new things they want you to spend money on. I do not and will not go broke going to the Dr for no reason. Crock of dog dodo!!! Don't just walk away get in a car, truck, bus, tractor, semi anything to get away from this crappy company. This goes on with bot my account and my wifes account. Both accounts restart sending and calling after 6 months and they wonder why people have health problems from stress and agervation.. I can see why Dr's and hospitals don't like to deal with them.WellCare Health Plans, Inc.

I am having a very hard time in reaching out Well Care agent. The keep transferring me and put me in hold for long period of time. They send me a check of $133,97 from Express Scripts, the check was misplaced by the mailman I received the check late. The bank did not accept the check because the 180 days passed. I contacted Well Care, and they have me long time waiting an no results. The same with my doctor, they don't want to cover my co-payments. I am feeling headaches, and I need an MRI, but the insurance is charging me $390 as copayment. Someone needs to stop all this from insurances.WellCare Health Plans, Inc.

Hello **** ******,
My name is ********, and I appreciate the opportunity to respond to the concerns you raised.
Upon review, we identified that the original reimbursement check was not deposited within its 180-day validity period and subsequently expired. A replacement check was requested and issued. Records confirm that the reissued check was successfully cashed. A follow-up was completed, and confirmation of receipt was obtained. No further concerns were reported at that time.
Regarding the copayment for the MRI, assistance was offered to help locate a lower-cost, in-network provider. However, this assistance was declined, and you opted not to proceed with the service.
At this time, the matter has been reviewed and resolved. If you require additional assistance, please contact us at ************.
Sincerely,
********

Their My Health Pays Reward is terrible! We were never sent a card for my son's 2024 physical at the doctor's. I called at least 20 times, and the problem was escalated to a supervisor at least 5 times. I NEVER received a call back about it, and it was NEVER resolved. We got a card mailed to us for this year. After I activated it, the card still didn't work! I called Wellcare, and they gave me the run-around. I have given up on these cards!Wellcare is a piece of ****!WellCare Health Plans, Inc.

Here is our experience with the Wellcare drug plan. My wife has been a Wellcare customer for 5 years. She has been a type II diabetic for 6 years. She requested a refill of her insulin on Monday, May 19. She received a call from the pharmacy that the drug was no longer covered by Wellcare. Her doctor called in a different insulin that was listed in the drug booklet as being covered. We received another call from the pharmacy that the manufacture had not released the drug to the public. Her doctor ordered another insulin that was listed as being covered by Wellcare. Again, received a call from the pharmacy that the insurance company did not cover this drug. Contacted Wellcare on Thursday, May 22 concerning the problem and was told they only cover two types of insulin. We advised her doctor of these medications and for some reason my wife could not take these. On Friday, May 23, we spent over 1.5 hours on the phone with Wellcare trying to get a PA, which is a special request from the doctor to the insurance company requesting coverage of a non-covered drug. Wellcare advised it may take up to 24 hours to complete this process. My wife took her last shot of Insulin Wednesday night. All parties involved were made aware of this. Finally around 6:30 pm, we received a phone call from Wellcare that the doctors request had been approved and they will notify the pharmacy to refill the original prescription as a covered drug. We are not sure what will happen when she request a refill in 90 days, Not saying anything good or bad, just stating our most recent adventure.WellCare Health Plans, Inc.

Denying medications is how ******* ****** is able to make over $20 Million a year! I switched to Wellcare during the last open enrollment period. I have had nothing but trouble and have had to file 2 complaints with Medicare! They DENY the medications, even though they are listed on the enrollment application! These medications are what I need to LIVE! They believe they know more than my Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist!WellCare Health Plans, Inc.

My Wellcare membership stated that I get unlimited physical therapy visits, yet after my knee ***lacement, they are now denying claims for the physical therapy I truly need. My doctor and physical therapist have requested it, but Wellcare won't listen. The other day, I was on the phone for two hours with their awful customer service team, filing an appeal. But the next day, a *** told me they have no record of the appeal. This caused another few hours on the phone, with no positive results. The customer service is absolutely atrocious; the worst I have ever seen!! Also, when I went to physical therapy yesterday, they told me that the requests by my doctor and physical therapist were denied by Wellcare, despite what is stated on my plan. The BBB should look into Wellcare and consumers should avoid them at all costs. They are a disgrace and have no respect for their members, or our time and money. It is truly shameful.Wish I could leave zero stars.WellCare Health Plans, Inc.

Good afternoon, the authorization was denied due to not meeting the medical criteria. The member was advised via denial letter as well as as the provider on 03/12/2025. thank you.J. L.

This is ridiculous. My plan provided for unlimited physical therapy, and both my doctor and my physical therapist said I really needed more visits. I met their "medical criteria," but I guess Wellcare has some other, magical medical critieria?? Also, the Wellcare customer service is so atrocious that it's surreal.
