The amount billed to the patient was billed in error as the claim was well past timely filing. We called and spoke to the patient to explain the situation, and the charge has been removed. The patient no longer has an outstanding balance and we apologized for the error.Customer Answer

I initially had routine lab tests done THREE YEARS ago. The doctor does not code the *** for the lab tests but sends the specimen to this lab. This lab then gets to pick the *** code. They coded it in a way that my insurance did not cover, despite having coverage for routine tests. Then, now three years later, they randomly send me a bill. Initially I thought it was fraud or a scam. Discussed with the insurance company, who isn't helpful since I'm no longer a member and service was so long ago. This lab company claims they have not recoded my labs, but it is suspicious to get a bill so long after. Then, I called them and the doctor and many places trying to sort this out. In less than a month, they sent my bill to collections! I even discussed with the billing people at the lab and they said they would put my account on hold and not send me to collections since we were working on what was going on. Because this happened so long ago, insurance is difficult to deal with and the lab claims they've done nothing wrong (lies). It's funny that suddenly they coded something in a way that it produces a bill. They claim they've been going back and forth with insurance all this time, which could be true. But if so, that means they finally landed on charges and codes that produce a bill for me. This place is a SCAM. They are committing medical coding and insurance fraud. They are coding and adjusting things in a way to get money from consumers and increase their profits. And then they won't do anything to right their wrong. THEN they send you to collections quickly. This place should be shut down!Business Response

Good morning and thank you for reaching out for clarification. The claim in question returned an explanation of benefits (attached) from Aetna that states the patient has a responsibility towards her deductible for one test on the claim. The patient was billed in accordance with the *** received. There was a delay in the statement drop functionality, but once the issue was resolved, the statements were generated to the patient. Please let us know if anything additional is needed. Thank you.Initial Complaint

I went to an appointment at ************ OBGYN on 6/8/2023, and some minor testing was completed. One test resulted in a charge of $40.00 that I was responsible for.The charge was processed through my insurance on 6/27/2023, and I paid that charge in full through my insurance portal on 6/28/2023. The charge had not yet even showed up on ************ OBGYNs portal at that point, so I paid through the insurance billing service to pay as soon as I could. Though the bill was processed from Florida Woman Care, LLC (as can be seen on the proof of payment documents), the entity Florida Woman Care Laboratory, LLC has continued to pursue payment for this already-paid charge. That is why I am filing this complaint against Florida Woman Care Laboratory, LLC, not Florida Woman Care, LLC. I would be open to resolution of the problem from either entity, as long as the already-paid bill is closed. Since paying, I have called ************ OBGYN twice to explain that I have already paid them. I emailed the company several times to provide information about my payment, as well as the proof of payment documents attached to this claim. I have also physically mailed the proof of payment document to the entity Florida Woman Care Laboratory, LLC directly. I have messaged back and forth with the billing department of ************ OBGYN, all to no avail. They have acknowledged receipt of my proof of payment documents, but have failed to resolve the bills. They also keep sending me requests for payment, and are now threatening to take the bills to collections. I have already paid this business, and I have done everything I can to prove that I have paid them. I do not know what else to do. All I want is for this to not be taken to collections. I want the bills to be resolved as they have been paid now for over a month. I do not want this to impact my credit score, as I have already paid and gone above and beyond to prove that to the business.Initial Complaint

I had a biopsy done 1/5/2023. The specimen was sent to Florida Woman Care Laboratory, LLC.They billed the wrong insurance company, who said that I was not covered. Correct as I have BCBS, not UHC. I gave the Doctor ****** my ******** card as well as my BCBS. The procedure was improperly billed and I received a bill for $211.00, Of which I sent a check for. After talking with the billing department and getting them the correct information, that they should have had to begin with, the bills were paid by ******** and BCBS. There is a balance of *****. I have called numerous time with no satisfaction of getting my refund. I escalated to supervisor with a busy phone number, left a message no return call. It has been 1 month since the insurance company finalized payment and I have not received a returned check for $197.12. I would like my money back that was over paid. The ****** does not know what she is doing and has refused to send my money back, stating it takes7-14 business days, and I have yet to received a refund.Initial Complaint

This is the worst office to communicate with; I've been going back and forth with the billing department for over a year and a half due to coding issues with my procedure. My bill miraculously went from $267 to $47 in that time but it is still being incorrectly coded and "doctor's ***** for lab work should not apply. The absolute most unprofessional office where you get the same story every time- we will send this to code review. Nothing happens and they never follow up. Very unprofessional and if you need lab work done, make sure it is not sent to this office!
