I purchased a transmission from Street Smart Transmissions (AKA Speedcotran, **** in late February and immediately began having issues after installation, filing 3 separate claims with them by the end of March. The first claim was for a drain pan damaged in shipping, the 2nd claim for issues with shifting and P0722 error codes on the transmission. The 3rd claim they finally decided to replace the transmission with another rebuilt transmission. This was their decision- I did not request it.The latter two claims required significant labor totaling $4768 for the repairs. To date, they've reimbursed me less than $2500 of these costs that are a direct result of the faulty transmission that they sold me. My ************************************ ******, ** and ********, ** for 5 1/2 weeks- they are fully aware of this as well. We had lengthy delays for parts on back order or problems with the shippers. As a result, I incurred additional expenses including Airbnb for lodging and rental vehicles. I even went as cheap as I could to save expenses. The faulty transmission they sold me has cost me an additional $6200 on top of what I paid for the transmission and labor for the initial installation ($4800)- $11K total.Their customer service on warranty claims has much room for improvement- similar to other complaints, I've had nothing but issues with getting responses regarding my transmission warranty. I've been told my claim is "being handled personally by our owner *****", however he or the other warranty tech have yet to return any of my phone calls regardless how many times I have reached out.I find it very disconcerting that this company refuses to stand behind a customer when they experience so many issues immediately after a purchase. CLEARLY it was an issue with the transmission we were sold as the replacement is finally working as it should. At minimum, I feel it is more than reasonable for ALL of my labor expenses to be reimbursed.Business Response

I am rejecting this response. Yes, you've provided some reimbursement, however as you noted already it is a fraction of what we paid for warranty related expenses. 75$ per hour doesn't even come close to covering labor charges in the ******* area. In addition, I learned today from ETE that I could have asked for a complete refund this whole time and saved myself $3800 in labor and diagnostic charges out there. Then I could have gone with a different transmission company altogether. Now I'm stuck for a FOURTH time in ******** with this latest transmission. It's overheating because the shift strategies aren't correct and aren't getting programmed right. FOUR warranty claims since February 20th is BEYOND ridiculous and I should be reimbursed fully for all of my warranty related expenses.Sincerely,

Good afternoon,
I've attached several documents, including the requested warranty document. The first time I received a copy of their warranty was after I filed my SECOND claim on March 6, 2023 (note attachment at bottom of email "Warranty claim email (Claim #_ 00077453).pdf". My original purchase date was 1/24/2023 (see attached receipt "Street Smart Transmission receipt [#****-4074].pdf).
Within my first 37 days of ownership of the transmission, I had to file 3 different claims for it totaling over $8000 in out of pocket repair expenses.
Claim 1 - Filed 2/20/23 for damaged drain pan
Claim 2 - Filed 3/6/23 for warning lights and issues with shifting (replaced the lead frame on transmission in ************, **). Had to wait 3 1/2 weeks for repairs to be completed.
Claim 3 - Filed 3/31/23 for even worse shifting conditions, false neutrals. Got stranded in ********, **. At this point, Street Smart finally decides to send a replacement transmission. Had to wait 2 weeks for repairs to be completed.
Street Smart left ** stranded for 5 1/2 weeks on the road between repair times in both ******* and *******. I don't believe it is reasonable for any company to not fully stand by their product for at least 90 days (especially something mechanical like a transmission). In my case it was literally THIRTY SEVEN days that I experienced all of these issues. On top of that, every mechanic that I've spoken with believes that some of our issues are a direct result of how Street Smart requires technicians program the transmission (or lack thereof in their case). They specifically instruct installers to NOT program shift strategies, meanwhile all of the installers I've worked with tell me that's crazy and it needs to be done to ensure the longevity of the transmission. All 4 of the shops I've worked with to repair this transmission have all stated this.

I purchased the original transmission for my ****** in September of 2021.Since then, I have had it replaced 3 more times due to faulty transmissions being sent (under warranty). The last one was put in in January 2023 and didn't even leave the mechanics lot. I have had to pay for labor for ALL 4 of these transmission with the exception of 1 that was refunded. They have paid $700 and I'm stuck with paying $1400 more each time. I have called *****+ times in the last year and 5 months and NO ONE has ever returned my call, not even the owner *****. If I can't track someone down, my multiple messages go unanswered. I have been very patient with this company but I am done! They don't care that my daughter is away at college and has no car! They don't care that we have been inconvenienced for over a year. We have had to tow the car from 2 hours away and pay the bill. We have to borrow cars, share cars, etc. I am out thousands of dollars over this fiasco. I want a full refund for every dime I have spent on this car...parts and labor. I want to keep one of the transmissions so I can then pay someone else to rebuild it correctly. Even with this as a solution, I am still not back to whole. I have spent hours and hours trying to get this all straight and still have nothing. I am so irritated with this company and their lack of making this right. I'm more than upset about being blatantly ignored and dismissed by ***** and every other employee there who never called back. It wouldn't be so bad if I had to replace the transmission once, but 4 times.Come on.How can you sell 4 faulty transmissions in a row and then not honor my request to get a refund for everything I'm out so I can go somewhere else? I was told that I had to keep exchanging them out. If I didn't, they would not honor the warranty. At what point to they do the right thing and refund everything. I am rejecting this response because:the $1400 you previously refunded was for the labor exception warranty. So now youre just going to apply my labor refund to the cost of the transmission. How horrible. I have paid $8400 in labor for 4 transmissions. My total refund so far has been $700 (after you took a $1400 refund for labor and applied it to the actual transmission). I asked for a complete refund after the second transmission and you refused. You told me I could only keep exchanging them. So instead of stopping the bleeding, you cut deeper. Im out almost $7000 for a car thats not even worth that!
And now you think Im whole after refunding a $1771? Wow. I need my labor money back. Also, you dont even care that I havent had the ability to drive this car for over a year. Ive left messages for both ***** and ***** (like *****) and NO ONE has EVER called me back. How is this even acceptable?

I am rejecting this response because:I first bought a transmission from them in 2019, had it shipped to ********* and installed by a reputable dealership. It started having problems so the business did send a replacement as per the 3 year warranty and I paid to have this one installed, however it did not last 30 days as it was a bad unit (as confirmed by the dealership). They sent a 3rd transmission which I again had to pay another $1,528.00. This one seems to be working fine but I feel they should reimburse me for the install of the 3rd one as it is not my fault the 2nd one they sent was a bad unit. I have now paid 3x to install transmissions.

****** HallI did not use that PayPal account as a form of payment. I pay with my debit card and as I explained, I dont have a PayPal account they have somebody elses name connected to that account. Already try to set up something to get this resolved, and I was unable to get anything resolved with PayPal. As I stated they should at least called and asked me how did I wanted the payment to be made, I paid for my transmission to being stored off my debit card not off a PayPal account what they are state is when I bought the transmission from the three years ago three years ago I used somebodys a PayPal account its not mine and they sent my refund to a PayPal account and I would appreciate it if they would rather money back and send it to me the check. I am rejecting this response because:2008 hummer h3 hx i purchase a transmission from them about 4 years ago today and this is the 3 time that the trans has went out same codes on all 3 of them so I call them about it and they saying that the warranty has ran out the warranty should still be in a affect cause there product is defective 3 times same codes that is ridiculous. This last time I got my truck out the shop the mileage was ****** right now the mileage is ****** so that tell you the ***********'t even been driven that much. please help thank you.

My review could change depending on how this is rectified and how quickly. I ordered my transmission on 10/8 and it was estimated to be shipped on 11/16. I was little frustrated with the wait but understood. Fortunately, the order was shipped on 11/8. Two days after it was delivered the mechanic got to work on the installation and wrapped everything up 4 days later. Once they took it on a 3 mile test drive it was determined that the transmission was leaking from the bell housing so severely that a quart of oil was already on the ground. So, I couldn't take my car home. Upon contacting Street Smart transmission they immediately treated this issue as a "warranty" issue when it is clearly a manufacturer issue. I was told that I have to wait about 3-4 days to hear from someone on what's next and if a new transmission is needed, another 3 weeks. Also, they might only cover 50% of the costs to get the transmission in working order which is VERY upsetting as they did not hold up their end sending me a transmission that is in working order that I haven't even used. This should not be handled as a warranty and should be address as a manufacturer/ customer service problem as soon as possible. I am very frustrated and have exhausted all my options to get to work during the original waiting period and need my car back immediately. Really hoping Street smart will take accountability and make this right.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: Transmission ordered and paid for did not work upon delivery. Street smart is making me wait until 12/12 for a replacement and only offering $465 for a $1100 install. Keep calling it a warranty when it was a problem with the original product ordered that was not in functioning condition to begin with. No empathy from the company for inconveniencing my life further. The least they could do is pay for a rental car for me while I wait because of their mistake. 10 out of 10 would not recommend to anyone the good reviews must be fake.

Had wife's transmission replaced, Early September 2022, got the truck back in only 4 days which was nice. **** told me. Upon picking it up "tell your wife it might ride a little different now". Which I found odd, but said ok. Wife gets in the truck to drive home, with me in my own truck, calls and tells me the truck is shaking. I told her let's get home and I will check it there. Sure enough, truck is shaking like crazy in Park and in gear at idle. Call **** immediately, he said they will pick the truck up to look at it again. Next day, tow truck picks it up and takes it to their shop. **** calls me around 10 and says they don't see anything wrong, they feel the shake but isn't what they did. Truck had zero issues besides the transmission slipping before replacement. I told him and it only started after them replacing it. He said he will look again. Calls me at lunch says, "nope no issues, must be a misfire.." I go test drive truck with ****, still shaking. He says we'll not the transmission. All he did was test drive the truck never physically inspected anything in the transmission to see if something is out of balance. I take truck and go to ***** dealership, $200 later they say the motor mounts are broken now but absolutely NO MISFIRE ISSUES.. I email ****, tell him what they said. Obviously is something they did well pulling and replacing transmission. He says they be happy to replace the motor mounts for almost $1200.... I ended up having the mounts replaced else where and the truck still had a shake. My wife can't drive the truck and I am disabled combat veteran. Ended up trading the truck in and buying a new truck due to not wanting to spend more money. Absolute garbage service and do not stand behind their work. Would not recommend to anyone. I am filing a complaint with the BBB and will tell every veteran organization around to black list this company. $4000 down the drain.Business Response

Thanks for your honest feedback! When arriving at our repair center you had advised us after changing your transmission fluid a few weeks back your vehicle developed a shutter between ***** MPH and that it would also make a whining noise when accelerating. Upon inspection of your vehicle your transmission pump was mechanically failing. We rebuilt your Transmission and your initial concerns were no longer present.
When **** was explaining to you it might ride a little different for the first 200 miles, he was explaining to you that there is an adaptation period, with fresh new components in the transmission the transmission has to re-learn it shift patterns and adaptations again. It is not uncommon to experience a single not repetitious late shift or early shift during the re-learning procedure and we wanted you to be prepared and know what to expect while the vehicle was re-learning its proper clutch volume indexes, pressure tolerances, and mainly learning to your driving habits.
Once back at the shop, we inspected our work first and found no leaks and the transmission operating within normal specifications. No diagnostic trouble codes present nor was the check engine light on. Your motor and transmission mounts were in good condition, and we did experience the minor vibration on the initial startup with the transmission not in engaged at Park or Neutral, as well as when you came to a stop, mainly at idle. And we suspected it could need a tune up.
At the dealer they stated to you after your inspection was complete, that the transmission, our repairs, were performing well within specification as there was no mention of this.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:The truck had a full tune up prior to the transmission being rebuilt and I redid the tune up again after to eliminate that possibility. The truck had NO codes. Had no shake before having the transmission rebuilt.
The transmission obviously had an internal issue or they damaged something else while completing the job. Either way they have no integrity or craftsmanship.
Their response shows that they simply wiped their hands of it, after causing the issue.

I am rejecting this response because:As stated. No shaking issues were present before the transmission. Obviously you broke something. There was no issues with tune up. All ignition parts were new and no codes or history were present in computer for anything. The engine mounts were broken and dealership would not go further in repairs or diagnostic from there. Mounts were not broken before the transmission job. Even after new mounts shake was still present. So obviously something in the transmission was not correct or out of balance.
You are obviously too incompetent to do your job/do a complete inspection or make a professional reply as you only copy pasted. Your company has no integrity. Look at previous complaints and SEVERAL have issues with your products, service and customer service. Using your services was a waste of $4000, plus put me in payments for a new vehicle.
I don't have the luxury to continue to have a broken vehicle that we cannot use, as I am currently recovering from surgery. I am a disabled veteran.

Ordered a valve body for transmission now having issues from the start. I have three phone numbers listed for this company, two of the numbers stay busy no matter when or how many times I call, third number rings twice then I am hung up on. This has been going on for over a week.Business Response
