Invoice ****** Be careful with spam email from Check in now. I received an email about booking a hotel for a tradeshow in *******, ** that I'm attending. I booked my reservations with Check in now and come to find out that is has nothing to do with the tradeshow. I was told by my company to get a full refund and use the right link for hotel. Tradeshow is more then 2 months away and check in now will only refund 40% of the charge, meanwhile they link says 30%. Be careful, ****** learned but DO NOT book with check in now.Business Response

We appreciate the opportunity to respond to this complaint and clarify the situation regarding the customer's reservation.
The reservation under Invoice #****** was made through our platform, Check In Now, using a promotional offer that provided a significantly discounted rate. As stated in the confirmation email sent to the customer at the time of booking, reservations made under this promotion were subject to a 40% cancellation fee.
While our general website terms reference a 30% cancellation fee, promotional bookings may carry different terms. These terms were clearly disclosed in the booking confirmation and agreed to by the customer before finalizing the reservation.
That said, in an effort to be fair and accommodating, we voluntarily waived the 40% cancellation fee and applied the standard 30% fee instead. As a result, a refund of $390.60 was processed.
Due to the original transaction being over five months old, our payment processor was unable to refund the full amount back to the original card. Therefore, $334.80 was refunded to the card, and the remaining $55.80 is pending, for which weve requested the customers ****** or ***** details to complete the refund. We are still awaiting that information.
We would also like to clarify that Check In Now is an independent travel service and is not affiliated with any specific trade shows unless explicitly stated. Our emails are legitimate marketing communications sent only to those who have opted in or engaged with our services, and we take compliance with all email marketing regulations seriously.
We remain committed to resolving this issue and delivering the best possible service. We kindly ask the customer to provide the necessary payment details so we may complete the final portion of the refund.
Sincerely,
******* *****

They send out fake invoices pretending to book you hotels for conferences. Then they use Intuits payment gateway to collect payment for the fake hotel reservations. Intuit pays the invoices since they are set to autopay with your credit info that they have stored from when you paid other vendors.Business Response

You booked with us on July 13th, 2023 at ********************** via our website, and you received a copy of booking form that you submitted over our website your email once you made the reservation, Also you received an automatic reminder for the balance due on February 21st, 2024 that the card on file will be charge within the next 24 to 48 business hours, including this email all contact for our company, and we didn't receive any replay from your side says i want to cancel or anything like that, so the card was automatically charge for the balance due.
Anyways we refund the balance amount of $373.24 and everything is good to go.

I am rejecting this response because:In your response, you stated that you did not mention the show or hotel. In the email evidence that I provided, it clearly shows that your company is trying to book hotel rooms for my event, the Strandness Symposium. These are deceptive practices. All of the complaints against your company on the BBB are very similar to mine.
Sincerely,

Check In Now is using deceptive business practices related to conference housing. They emailed several of our constituents with an email that lists the name of our association and our conference dates and gives the impression that they are serving as a vendor or housing partner to our conference. Additionally, the email itself indicates that the recipients have opted-in to a mailing list, which in inaccurate. We do not sell or distribute our mailing lists in any way. I did call to speak with them and was told they were simply trying to help people make the trip to our conference. Practices like this are predatory and have the potential to harm attendees who have no guarantee they are working with a reputable vendor. We have NO relationship to Check In Now and do not endorse their products, services, or their deceptive business practices.Business Response
