Monday June 2, 2025 I received an email from Mac Of All Trades (Moat from now on) stating that my watch had been received and would be updated after inspection and testing. On June 3rd I received this: Hello,We received the equipment you shipped. It was packaged properly and suffered no damage in transit - thank you.Upon inspection and testing, our technicians found:Bad Battery;Major Scratches;Based on the issues reported, we can pay $3.61 for the equipment as-is.Please reply to confirm and we will issue payment./MMAO-DED/I wrote them back and provided pictures I took the day I mailed the watch to them and asked if maybe they had reviewed a different watch and made a mistake. I have not heard from them and cannot contract them as their phones are not working. I relied on the fact they are so highly rated with you when choosing to sell them my watch. Would you please assist me in gaining communication with them? I have also supplied pictures of my watch so you can see there are no scratches and the battery was rated as good by ***** standards. This is basic contract law in that they made an offer, I accepted but they have not finished their end of the contract and will not communicate with me. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.*** ****** *********************

    Hello,

Mac Me an Offer acknowledges a delay in follow-up due to a system error that caused this offer ticket to be marked as resolved prematurely. While this was an internal oversight, we want to assure the sellerand all our customersthat we strive to respond to all inquiries within 24 hours as part of our standard service commitment. We regret any confusion this caused and have already taken steps to prevent similar issues. That said, the core concern in this case was addressed through direct communication, documentation, and a cooperative resolution process, as outlined below.

In regards to the offer,  we have been in direct communication with the seller concerning the Apple Watch submitted under this purchase order. Our intake team performed a documented evaluation of the devices condition, including photographic evidence, which was shared directly with the seller. Based on that review, our original assessment stands. However, we recognize that sellers deserve a transparent and fair resolution process.

Following discussion, it was agreed that the Apple Watch would be returned to the seller upon the seller providing a return shipping label. The most recent message received from the seller stated: Thank you. I need a day or two to follow through with this. Once we receive the label and shipping instructions, the product will be returned without delay.

We appreciate the sellers engagement throughout this process, which brought attention to a system issue we are now actively addressing. With respect to the item in question, all condition details and available options have been clearly communicated, and both parties have agreed on a resolution. The item will be returned as requested, and no transaction will be completed. Mac Me an Offer considers the matter resolved.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. What is not satisfactory is the way they handled the problem as I was not advised an error had been diagnosed and they were unaware there was a problem. I find this hard to believe as I was sending emails, attempting to call them (is their phone still turned off?) and they lied about the scratches on my watch. However,  I have looked in to past reviews of this company and this type complaint is not isolated which is how I found out that in the wee tiny print it states that you have to pay for your return ($15 for me) and if you don't inform them of your decision to not a accept their offer within three days, they keep your property. This company is a grift: no working phone number, no honest practices, no communication and poor resolution of any kind. I will never, ever, do business with them again.

    Sincerely,

    ****** ******

I decided to sell my laptop to this company. They agreed to buy it for $1000. The package was 'lost' and they now are saying they only insured it for $100 and that's all they're going to pay me.

    Business Response

    Date: 04/28/2025

Mac Me an Offer would like to begin by stating that we are genuinely sorry for the unfortunate situation regarding the seller's shipment. While instances of lost packages are exceedingly rare, they are an unfortunate reality when shipping through carriers such as **** We fully recognize that this does not ease the financial strain that such a situation can cause, and we certainly empathize with the seller's frustration.

Per the Mac Me an Offer Sellers Agreement, all packages sent to us are automatically covered under ***s standard loss protection, which provides insurance up to $100. This is stated in our agreement, which all sellers accept prior to sending in a device to utilize our service. The Mac Me an Offer Sellers Agreement also states that any additional insurance coverage beyond the standard $100 provided by *** must be arranged by the seller independently of us. Given the low frequency of lost shipments and the relatively low cost of obtaining additional insurance even for high-value ***** devices, most sellers find the existing options reasonable and acceptable.

At the time this message is being sent, a supervisor from Mac Me an Offer has already reached out to the seller via phone call, per the sellers request, to personally discuss the situation. During this conversation, the seller expressed frustration but also stated that much of the confusion stemmed from not being fully familiar with the policies surrounding insurance and lost incoming shipments. Moving forward, the seller's primary concern is with the fate of the package if it is ever recovered via **** We clarified during the call that if the package is ultimately found by *** and returned to us, the seller would be notified immediately. The call concluded with what seemed to be an understanding of the situation and our insurance policies and procedures.

Again, we believe the sellers frustration regarding the situation is fully warranted, and we do not take the financial impact this situation brings lightly. Mac Me an Offer operates with integrity and transparency in all of our dealings, and our Sellers Agreement is available on the front page of our website for review, with all policy details included. While cases like this are unfortunate and rare, Mac Me an Offer does what we can to ensure that sellers can at least recoup the $100 that they are owed from the *** loss, so they do not have to bear the full brunt of the cost.
We appreciate the opportunity to clarify our policies, and as we have presented the seller with all available options and information, Mac Me an Offer considers this matter to be closed.

I received a quote for my ******** streaming device, once my item was received by the company the original offer completely was reduced, i reached back out to the company once and informed them i would like my product mailed back. They informed me i had to make arraignments for my item to be sent back which are not the original terms. Theyre attempting to make it difficult for me to receive my item back so that they may keep my item. I would like the business to honor the return of my item at there expense.

    Business Response

    Date: 03/28/2025

Thank you for the opportunity to address the concerns raised in this case. Mac Me an Offer values transparency and fairness in all transactions, and after reviewing the situation thoroughly, we would like to provide additional context.

The seller submitted an ******** device through our platform and received an initial quote based on the information provided during the submission process. However, upon receipt and inspection of the device, it was discovered that Apple beta software was installed that could not be removed. According to the Seller Agreement, which outlines the terms of sale, beta software is considered a significant software restriction that impacts the resale value of the device.

Devices with beta software present several challenges, including:

    - Privacy Concerns: Beta software automatically transmits device data to Apple, raising privacy risks for any future users.
    - System Instability: Beta software is a pre-release version that is not intended for general use, often causing performance instability or limited functionality.
    - Unsellability: Since beta software cannot be removed, the device cannot be resold in good faith, which conflicts with our business model of ensuring that future buyers receive fully functional, stable products.

Due to these factors, the updated offer was revised to reflect the salvage value of usable parts, which is standard practice when a device cannot be resold due to hardware or software limitations. For clarity, Mac Me an Offer has no interest in keeping devices of this nature. Products such as these add very little value, as they cannot be resold, and the salvageable parts have minimal market value or internal value to our business. Any suggestion that we would intentionally create obstacles to retain such devices is unfounded.

Our policy requiring sellers to cover return shipping is precisely due to situations where the product received does not align with the original terms set forth in the seller agreement found on our site.

In most instances, this policy applies to devices that are locked to a sellers account, have physical damage, or exhibit hardware failures. These types of devices fall under the category of items that cannot, under any circumstances, be sold to an end user. This beta software constitutes a restriction of this nature, as it renders the device unsellable and unsuitable for resale.

While Mac Me an Offer must act in the best interest of the end user, we do acknowledge that the submission process did not provide an option for the seller to disclose the presence of beta software unless they proactively emailed us after submission. This was an oversight on our part, particularly since we offer this disclosure option for other devices like Apple Watches but had not extended it to ********s. This lack of clarity understandably led to confusion, and we regret any inconvenience this caused.

Given the lack of a disclosure option for ********s, we have made an exception by covering the cost of return shipping for this device. The return has been fully processed, and tracking information was provided to the seller via email as of the time of this response.

To prevent similar situations from occurring, we have already updated our submission process to include a disclosure option for beta software on ******** devices. This change is now live on our website and ensures that all future sellers have a clear and accurate way to describe their devices condition before completing a transaction.

Mac Me an Offer takes these matters seriously and strives to improve the seller experience wherever possible. The return has been processed at no cost to the seller as requested. As such, Mac Me an Offer considers this matter closed. We appreciate the opportunity to address these concerns.

I was given an offer of $155 for my IPad 9th gen in flawless/like new condition. I shipped it out only to be told the display has major scratches, which is untrue as I have a video to show the condition of it right before shipping. They only want to offer me $105 now.

    Business Response

    Date: 12/13/2024

Mac Me An Offer appreciates the opportunity to address the concerns raised by the customer and provide a clear explanation of our actions in this matter.

Upon receipt of the device, our technicians conducted a thorough inspection and identified significant scratches on the display. This condition resulted in the device being graded as Normal Use rather than the Flawless grade originally selected by the customer during submission. This downgrade impacted the final offer amount, as per the terms of our service.

The customer disputed this assessment, claiming that the device was free of scratches when shipped and provided a video recorded prior to shipping as evidence. However, the video submitted was taken in very low light, making it difficult to confirm the absence of scratches. In response, mac me an offer supplied clear photographic evidence of the scratches and, upon further request, a detailed video showing the scratches along with the serial number of the device. This documentation was shared to ensure transparency and verify that the condition assessment was accurate and that the device in question matched the one submitted by the customer. Both the seller's and our company's videos and photos have been attached for review.

Consistent with our policy, the customer was presented with two options. They could either accept the adjusted offer of $116.25 or have the device returned to them at their expense by providing a prepaid shipping label.

The seller eventually agreed to the revised offer, stating, I will take the $116.25 but I will be filing a claim against your company. Thanks! This acceptance concluded the transaction under the agreed terms.

Mac Me An Offer has consistently acted in good faith, adhering to our policies and providing clear options and evidence throughout the process. The seller was given ample opportunity to review and respond, and by accepting the revised offer, the matter has been concluded per the terms of service.

Mac Me An Offer considers this matter closed.

I am rejecting this response because: this is a scam they have pulled on multiple other customers after searching through other reviews. I was forced to accept the $116 due to selling this iPad since I am broke. I had no money to pay for a shipping label. The videos I sent showed absolutely no scratches at all and it had nothing to do with the low lighting. This company scratched my iPad to avoid paying the correct amount. They are purposely trying to avoid that being known.

Mac Me an Offer stands firmly by the positions we have previously outlined regarding this transaction, and none of our findings have changed. However, we feel it is necessary to directly address the sellers suggestion that we acted dishonestly or with ill intent.

Mac Me an Offer has proudly operated for nearly 30 years, maintaining an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau and holding accreditation since 2001. The overwhelmingly positive reviews we have received on the BBB are a testament to the integrity of our processes. While no business is immune to disputes, the contrast between the volume of positive feedback and the number of negative reviews speaks for itself.
It is important to highlight that the vast majority of sellers never encounter the deduction process. As reflected in our reviews, most sellers find the experience straightforward because the devices they submit arrive in the condition grade they selected. In these cases, payments are processed promptly, and sellers are satisfied with the outcome. Instances like this are uncommon and account for only a very small percentage of the transactions we handle each day.

We process dozens of products each day, and every seller is treated with the same level of transparency and adherence to our policiespolicies that were available to this seller prior to submitting the device. While we understand that not every outcome aligns with a sellers expectations, dissatisfaction with a final offer does not justify baseless claims about our credibility.

To reiterate, Mac Me an Offer operates with integrity, consistency, and transparency in all of our dealings. Accusations to the contrary are not only unfounded but also directly contradicted by the trust and positive experiences shared by countless other sellers.

Mac Me an Offer considers this matter closed.

I've sold tech products to several trade-in companies over the years without a single issue. Mac Me an Offer is the shadiest and slowest I've dealt with. It's very clear why they are NOT accredited. DO NOT WORK WITH THEM.I'm downsizing and needed to sell an ** UltraFine monitor. Its only blemish was a pinhead-size darkened spot on the base (not the display itself) that I couldn't wipe off, so I rated it "light use" instead of "flawless." I was offered less than ? of retail price but accepted to save time (ha!). Then they emailed instructions saying I am "required" to use an Apple box or "Purchase a custom shipping box from us." Well, this isn't an Apple product and their "custom shipping box" website had nothing for an ** monitor. So I emailed asking what to do and was told to purchase, for $25, an iMac box from them. Seemed incredibly stupid and shady but I paid the $25. The box came and I packaged everything exactly per their instructions, took pictures, and shipped it.I tracked the shipment and **3 days after they received it** I received an email alleging "severe scratching on the display" but was assured that there was "no damage in transit" (how could they know that?). They wanted me to accept a nearly 50% discount on their offer (plus the $25 I had to pay for their stupid box). I immediately responded with pictures I took with their packing materials on the day of shipment, showing a clearly unscratched display.More than 24 hours later, they sent me a picture showing ***** scratches across the display and zero packing materials or the accessories I sent in the frame. **The picture's metadata shows it was taken ONE DAY AFTER their email alleging damage and FOUR DAYS AFTER the shipment was delivered**. Instead of admitting their staff damaged the display or that it was damaged in transit (i.e., an insurance claim with THEIR shipping carrier) they've insisted I either accept the reduced offer or PAY FOR THEM to return the NOW DAMAGED monitor.

    Business Response

    Date: 10/31/2024

Mac Me an Offer sincerely apologizes for the experience the seller had during this transaction. The situation was mishandled on our end, and we take full responsibility for the oversight. We understand the frustration and inconvenience this has caused, and we are committed to making it right.

When the seller's ** UltraFine monitor arrived at our facility, we observed markings on the display, as shown in the attached photos. These observations were processed through our standard procedures and communicated to the team responsible for seller interactions. Based on the visible scratches in the photos, the unit was initially classified as a clearance product, leading to the adjusted offer.

While we fully acknowledge that this does not excuse the mishandling of this case, we believe it is important to provide some relevant context. A significant portion of our inquiries involves instances where the condition of the received item significantly differs from the seller's description. Such situations are common, and we have established policies to address these discrepancies to ensure fairness and transparency for all parties involved. Nonetheless, we understand that each situation is unique, and in this case, we recognized the need for a thorough re-evaluation.

Upon further escalation, the device was re-audited. During this re-evaluation, we discovered a significant oversight in our initial assessment. After thorough inspection and careful cleaning of the display, we determined that the marks were superficial scuffs that could be removed, not scratches or physical damage to the product. While we are still investigating how these scuffs occurred during shipping, it is clear that the monitor did not have permanent damage.

We have taken corrective actions across multiple teams to prevent such issues from happening in the future. Our processes are being reviewed and updated to ensure that all products are accurately assessed and that any concerns are promptly and appropriately addressed.
The seller has been issued a check for $107.00, which is the difference between what was already paid and the amount corresponding to the higher condition grade determined after re-audit. Tracking information has been sent to the seller.

While this situation highlighted a gap in our processes and training, we want to emphasize that none of this was done in bad faith. We hold ourselves to the highest standards of quality and dedication to our sellers. Our goal is never to pay our sellers less than what their products are worth. We have built our business on reputation and integrity, ensuring we operate with honesty and fairness in all our transactions. This incident does not reflect our usual practices, and we deeply regret that it occurred.

Mac Me an Offer considers this matter an important moment of learning. We appreciate the seller's diligence in holding us accountable, which helps us improve our services. We are committed to restoring the seller's trust and ensuring a better experience in any future interactions.

Mac Me an Offer buys used Macs for a low price. You put in the details, ship them the computer, and they send you a final amount that is agreed upon.My computer was in excellent working order when I sent it in. On 12/30/23 I was given a quote to receive $54.75 for my early 2015 Apple MacBook Retina 12-inch 1.2GHz Core M. I was sent a shipping label and shipped my computer. After the item was received, I received the following email on 1/11/24:"We received the equipment you shipped. It was packaged properly and suffered no damage in transit - thank you.Upon inspection and testing, our technicians found the backlight has failed and will require the display to be replaced.Based on the issues reported, we can pay $10.50 for the equipment as-is.Please reply to this email to confirm and we will issue payment."I wrote back asking for a photo confirmation as I had never experienced this problem before, and I was using the Mac right up until shipment. I received this email:"Thank you for your reply. Our technicians have confirmed that this backlight failure is not a complete blackout of the display but that it intermittently flickered during testing. We don't have a way to capture this in the form of a photo."I was told that if I wanted my computer back, I would need to use **** which was a minimum of $25 for shipping. I was then told I could use **** or ***** after I reported the high shipping amount.I requested my computer back and sent in a **** label for $12.47. I received the computer and it was in perfect working order. There was no backlight issue. Based upon the company's emails and language, I believe they were not being transparent and were trying to underpay what was promised. While some adjustment in final payment can always happen, this was quite egregious - saying I needed a new display with no proof, and then seeing that the computer was fine once I received it. I have attached a photo of my screen in perfect working condition.

    Business Response

    Hello,

Upon reviewing this ticket, we can confirm that the customer packaged their item properly. However, upon inspection, ************** was able to identify the screens backlight going out at least for a moment.

In regard to a photo, we were unfortunately unable to replicate the issue on command. However, due to seeing the issue even once, we would have to replace the screen to ensure the issue does not repeat once resold.

We understand that the customer has received the item back and is also unable to replicate the screen flickering issue. We want to assure that we are not attempting to underpay what was promised in a fraudulent way. We will review this type of case further to determine if there are any changes we can make to avoid a situation like this in the future. In regard to this case, mac of all trades considers this matter closed.

I filled out appropriate paperwork and answered all questions regarding the condition of my 2 iphones. I was given a quote for $140 on one and $80 on the other. Specific instructions to mail item to business was followed and confirmed by recipient upon delivery. Once the business reviewed items, they gave me a new quote as follows; $39 for the first and $8 for the second. Had they stuck by at least one of the original quotes I may have let it go, but it was both items and quote changes were significant. They claim there were issues such as cracked display on one and the internal face recognition not working on the other. This was inaccurate. I knew the risk I was taking when I mailed items but what was upsetting is that they are charging an unacceptable amount to return my items to me. This forces me to either pay to get MY phones back due to their lack of honestly OR accepting unreasonable amount offered. I would like one of two things to happen to resolve my complaint; one- send my phones back without charging me shipping OR two- pay me the original quote.

    Business Response

    Date: 05/02/2024

On January 18th and 19th, we received two iPhones from the seller for potential resale. During the submission process, each seller is asked whether their device has hardware failures or cosmetic defects beyond normal wear, to which the seller indicated 'No', suggesting no significant defects.

Upon receipt and inspection, our technicians discovered that one device had a malfunctioning Face ID and the other had a large crack on the back glass, neither of which were disclosed initially. Given these findings, on January 22nd at 10:45 AM, we communicated with the seller, offering a significantly reduced price to reflect the devices' conditions and the significant repairs required. We supported our findings with video evidence of the defects. We also provided the option for the seller to provide a return shipping label if they preferred the devices to be sent back to them.

Following discussions, the seller expressed their preference to have the phones returned free of charge or to receive the original quote for the second phone. Our policy clearly states that we do not cover return shipping costs for items that have been misrepresented by the seller. Eventually, the seller, albeit reluctantly, agreed to accept the revised offers. The funds were disbursed on January 23rd at 4:12 PM EST.

As the transaction has been completed in accordance with our policies and the seller's acceptance, mac of all trades considers this matter closed.
