Spring of 2021 we hired *****'s Services to build a deck patio for us. He never pulled a permit for the project. The deck was done wrong. Needs cement under it, the floors are suppose to touch not have gaps, gutter was put in wrong and the door is broken. We have to redo everything in the deck with a new contractor. So I am having to pay more money to fix a deck that should of been done the right way with a permit pulled that would of forced ******* to come out and review the work.

    Business Response

    Date: 01/04/2023

I was asked to build the deck and then screen porch, Fist thing Told client was that she does not have enough clearance for deck so it would be better to install pavers which I don't do, they insist on building deck. When I said it will need Architectural drawings and permit, she denied due high cost of these, and I (MY MISTAKE) !!!Agreed on doing all this without it...!!!I also proposed that the screen porch needs to have roof,(maitenance & Water/debris buildup) which was denied by client and again insisted on no roof or any type of gutters - the idea of installing gutters come from her after all porch was done. She choses the Trex material which has sideT bracket mount so there is no top screws trough the decking board which I explained before and again told her that it will need to have the gaps between boards to be able to mount the brackets that are holding the boards down and fasten it.The complaint about these gaps are just coming from not enough knowledge and understanding the material that she choose.

The porch door were installed to her choice with lock inside the dome, I explained tha understand t these doors -IF She prefers the lock to be inside can not be installed other way-Opening Inward.

I Understand that I shouldnt proceed without drawings and permit but I just wanted to make another customer happy.

This is my ONLY one complaint in 20 years of business.    Thank you IM open for partial refund to make her happy.

I am rejecting this response because:

I am attaching our communication records from text messaging and on next door app. If you read the messages he is flat out lying about the drawn plans and permit.

I spoke with architect and he said to have it drawn would cost somewhere between $1,500-2,000.- which I guess is too much , and when we will do it in stages and you will be ok with it , we dont need to have plans.
    What do you think..?

    I am fine with that

Ok that means we will not pull permit, and we will do that way cheaper.

He says we don't need to have plans and pull a permit flat out to us.

I will be calling his PR lady Madison in few to discuss. The new contractor is estimating between 5-6k to fix the patio. They are doing a formal proposal and taking pics of the patio.

They have to take up deck. Mostly new deck installed. Super gutters. Correct footers.

    Sincerely,
