Zero for integrity--from the president to the adoption coordinator to the foster. 0 for wrongly judging my family & me. 0 for breaking their word and breaking my heart. 0 for thinking they're above all and solely deciding and "doing what's best for the animal." They didn't know what was "best" for my puppy. Canela was very attached to me and probably waited and wondered where I was. I'm not perfect; twice thought I'd give up. But I didn't. I couldn't. I loved my big girl. I tried harder. Yes, I was tired & stressed, but that's pretty typical when you're raising an energetic and then snarling and biting puppy, and your home dynamics are disrupted--even when you knew they would be. I know what it's called now: "puppy blues," "puppy regret," and it's not uncommon. The only thing I did wrong was to trust ASC. While I sent lots of pics and told them how much I loved Canela, I also vented about the "challenges." I did everything for & with Canela. Never easy, but probably less so when you're 59. Then throw in a dying father-in-law. New layer of stress. Finally, one morning I just broke. Started the 1+ hour drive to foster's home, but I knew in my heart it was a mistake. I was SOBBING when I called adopt coord to ask if they could keep Canela for a few days so my fam & I could talk & NOT make a mistake. Was given 3 days. Right before I left foster's home, I was asked for the surrender form. I was so nervous and REPEATEDLY said I wasn't surrendering. I was assured form was only for foster to keep Canela for me for those 3 days. Adopt coord texted me her "promise." To be double-safe, I wrote "Pending my decision on 4/1." (Later crossed out by ASC pres.) My decision was to go get my puppy, but ASC pres said I'd surrendered her. ASC broke their promise. Got $300 back but not my puppy. Pres said "move on." I don’t know where Canela is. Was reposted as “Sadie.” Did you adopt my puppy? Heartbroken. I didn't say goodbye. Lost her & my FIL one week apart. I hope Karma is real.
