On Thursday my husband took our car to the business, and the mechanic told us what we needed. He also charged us ***** for using the portable computer and he told my husband he wouldn't charge him additional. On Friday my husband took the car to the shop, he spent one hour on our car and something else was wrong with the car. He charged us ****** and my car is worse than we brought to him. I called on Friday to complain and a ***** answered the phone. She said we charge 150 by the hour. What about good service?

We apologize if our warnings were not clear enough. You and your husband came in because the car was misfiring, we were told the car was just given a tune-up, we asked what was changed and we were told that spark plugs were done, you also informed us that this issue started 3 months ago.  We scanned your vehicle which has a diagnostic minimum fee of $45. The computer of your car read that it was misfiring on cylinder #4.  Generally, misfires on vehicles are routine, if the vehicle itself tells us which misfire is damaged, it's routine to swap that out. Misfires are specific, they don't inform you of internal issues. After the fact of changing out the coil and spark plug, if the fix does not repair the issue, then we would have to dive more into the car to come up with a solution. Seeing that the vehicle did the same thing or it runs worse, means that there is a deeper diagnosis that would have to be looked into. We wouldn't have known it wasn't going to work unless the job was done, but due to the car itself telling us, via the computer on what was scanned, that it was Misfire #4, that was the first course of action that was then agreed upon for work. You came back the following day to get the job done, we not only replaced Coil #4, but we also checked over all the spark plugs to make sure they were on correctly and tight since you had work done on those, which does not reflect on the invoice, but your husband was told. Labor time for the coil alone is not the labor you were charged with, the time to check over the rest of the spark plugs is included in the labor. Our mistake was not writing it down, but your husband is aware of it, we explained it to him, and he understood. After the inspection and replacing the coil, the vehicle continued making the noise and you were notified of the internal issue. That's the reason your husband paid with no problem; he understood the situation as it was all explained to him.
