I bought a $30k car at HGreg less than a month ago. It's in the shop now and the mechanic says it's extremely unsafe to drive, and needs an $1100 repair. HGreg is not returning my calls or taking any responsibility. They were extremely helpful and friendly while I was buying the car, but now that I forked over the money and don't have the possibility of returning it, they are ignoring me.Apparently, somebody tried doing a patch repair to the suspension system to make it drive correctly for a little while. When I bought the car, the steering wheel wasn't centered. I needed the car right away to drive all the way to *******. I took it anyways because the sales person and managers assured me that they'd take care of any issues. They gave me a $100 discount to address the issue on my own in *******.The issue quickly got worse to the point that the steering is binding after a turn and the wheels won't return to center. This is extremely unsafe! My mechanic says it's clear that somebody had worked on these components recently to try improve the ride quality as cheaply as possible, without doing the repair the correct way. The issue is that this cheap job made it so that the car drove well initially but quickly degraded and ruined other components, making the repair even more expensive than what it would have been if they had done it the right way to begin with. The fact that HGreg (my salesperson, managers, and finance manager, all) are not returning my calls or emails makes me think that this is standard practice for them. To my mechanic, it's clear that they cut corners and got the car driving well temporarily to fool a buyer, by doing things that would make the repairs even more expensive and potentially lethal! They were SO friendly, warm, and helpful during the purchase. I trusted them because of this! And now they won't even get on the phone with me. The car I bought is undriveable. I can't get to work. And they couldn't care less.
