I hired this contractor to do a tile shower, even though he was not the lowest bid, entirely based on his 100% 5-star reviews. I wanted to pay more money and have someone do it right. I was excited reading his good reviews. He did do a good job cutting down a wall and making a stud adjustment for the niche. That's about all I can say that's positive. Due to his poor tile work in the shower itself, I will have to pay to have the shower mostly redone by someone else. The biggest issue is that the water pools in one corner and does not drain, causing fast mold buildup. Every tile specialist I consulted said this needs to be completely removed including the pan, but he refuses to do more than reseating the tiles in that area, which may damage the waterproofing and does nothing to address water pooling up under the tile due to the pan that is out of level. He also used metal ******** trim throughout the project, but he did not install it flush with the tile as stated in the manufacturer instructions. This causes water to be trapped on the curb, as well as on the niche, again leading to rapid mold buildup and water stains.Experts I consulted said he improperly used grout in areas that should have used silicone caulk. The grout was applied very unevenly and lumpy, with areas where grout spills out from the groove or has a rough texture due to not being smoothed out during application.I asked him for a partial refund instead of doing the inadequate repair he was offering. Instead, he let me keep a small part of the payment I owed him, which was a lot less than I felt I deserved given the cost it will take to have someone pull out and redo most of his ******* addition, he was generally very rude and dismissive once he had most of my money and the work was done. He seemed to take personal offense at the suggestion that some of it needed to be redone. The experts I consulted have said this isn't the work of a tile person who knows what they are doing.
