On March 8, 2024, I paid $1200 tuition for the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant program at Guided Hands Academy. It was a 20 week program, however, about 8 weeks after starring, our instructor left and we had no Certified Instructor for the program. I asked for a refund but was told I could not have one and to stick out the remaining weeks. I ended up teaching myself the rest of the program because we were going thru the program so fast when a friend of the owner stepped in to help but constantly told us she didn't know what a Medical Assistant does but she'll teach us what she knows as a nurse. Now that the course has ended, I'm having a hard time making contact with anyone from the school about my next steps and information I need for my externship that I can not receive because they do not have them. This has been a horrible experience and I feel like I wasted $1200. A school suppose to have everything in order and this one does not.

    Business Response

Tell us We have reviewed your concerns regarding the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant program and would like to address each point in detail. Please find our response below:
Firstly, we would like to clarify the situation surrounding the instructor's departure. While it is true that the original instructor left unexpectedly, a new qualified instructor was promptly assigned to the class to ensure continuity of your education. While the replacement instructor was not a certified Medical Assistant, she was fully qualified to teach the course material. Our records indicate that the students were provided comprehensive instruction and support throughout the remainder of the program.
Regarding your request for a refund, you were informed by the Director that the school's refund policy states that no refunds are granted after a student has completed more than half of the course. As you had completed more than eight weeks of the 20-week program at the time of your request (11 weeks to be exact), we were unable to provide a refund. During your discussion with the Director, you expressed that your only reason for enrolling into the course was due a personal interest in the instructor. You stated that you had an understanding of the school's policy and agreed to continue with the course regardless.
We also need to address attendance and participation. Our records show that you missed more than the allotted number of days and frequently arrived late to class. Despite this, we made multiple attempts to work with you to ensure you could complete the course successfully. We have attached only a portion of the absent attendance sheets for reference.
Concerning the externship, all students, including yourself, were given specific assignments and requirements to be placed into the externship rotation. This process is standardized and applies to all students equally. Our records indicate that you were provided with this information and the necessary tasks to complete.
We are committed to supporting our students, even after the completion of their coursework. If you are having difficulty contacting the appropriate department regarding your externship, please let us know the best way to reach you, and we will facilitate a follow-up to address any outstanding requirements. Our goal has always been to ensure that you receive the full benefit of the education you have invested in.why here...
