RUN IN THE OTHER DIRECTION. Yanover has a poor attitude, low integrity/transparency, and an obstinate disposition coupled with poor communication skills. Integrity and ability to accept constructive feedback when things are done poorly are non-negotiable baselines for any services - Yanover fails here. Aside from the above, I have thousands of dollars of damaged materials because the wrong post sleeves were ordered and installed and decking was unnecessarily cut - the posts for the railings I picked out were top-mount. I also have a crooked railing and decks that are not up to code per 3 other licensed contractors and 2 inspectors from the ***************. One concrete example is that the wrong bolts were procured that are not up to code. Another example is the lack of stringers. A third example is a missed footer that is now really unsafe. I have a pile of paperwork on this matter, pictures, statements, list of code violations, etc.

      Business Response

We had the unfortunate experience to deal with this overbearing homeowner. She provided a set of plans that she did not stick to and was constantly making changes to the scope of work. The tradesmen onsite did their best to be agreeable but she would change her mind constantly about what she wanted and make them redo work that she had originally requested or approved. When she was presented with a change order for her significant changes to the scope (additional square footage of deck and railing), she refused to agree to the change order or pay the cost. She was presented with a progress invoice for less than the actual amount of work completed and she refused to make payment in full and presented an extensive list of new demands and deadlines. Progress invoices were part of the agreement she signed. When her demands were not agreed to and she was invited to meet in person to discuss the invoices and the state of the work she emailed stating that our services were no longer required. She in effect stopped the project making it impossible for us to continue work or address any of her false concerns. She currently has a large outstanding balance. In her complaint she asserts that the project has not met code requirements and is not complete. That is because she stopped the project before it could be completed. A partially completed project will, of course, not meet code requirements. Another contractor that sees the project will see a red flag when a customer fires another contractor mid way through and will also not want to work on a partially started project. This homeowner was offered the opportunity again to pay the invoice and work out any issues multiple times. At this point the only resolution we see is suing her in court. We have begun that process by placing a lien on her home.
