On 5/12/2023, I engaged Diminished Value of Georgia, paying $300 for an appraisal valuing my diminished loss at $1800. ***** found the appraisal unreasonably high, resulting in claim denial. Advised by Appraisal Engine Inc to invoke our auto policy's appraisal clause, I paid a $150 settlement fee for an umpire's resolution. However, no umpire was hired. Diminished Value of Georgia settled for about half the appraised loss, bypassing the agreed-upon process and closing our claim unexpectedly. In response, I submitted a Better Business Bureau complaint and held the $150 payment. On 11/6/2023, Diminished Value of Georgia sued my family for $7,500, (50X) the settlement fee and over six times (6x) the total diminished value claim, citing a violation of the $150 settlement contract due to the BBB complaint and payment hold, and continued to pursue taking us to court after we withdrew our initial BBB complaint and hold on the payment. The business owner's lawsuit during the holidays caused undue stress and impacted our Christmas joy and holidays. The lawsuit claim details are publicly available under case 23-M-44492 in ********************************.BBB staff note - this complaint is specific to the fact that the business actually sued a customer for $7500 over a ******************** complaint and $150 payment dispute. This is a second complaint describes the nature of a first complaint but is not a resubmittal.

This company is involved in false advertising! I was told it would be $250.00 for an appraisal for my car, yet when I received the appraisal, the bill was for $400.00 when I said something they did no honor the stated price.

    Mr. ******,

In your submission to us, you stated that you have a numbered vehicle.

To adjust the price of your vehicle to reflect this, we need to spend more time on the appraisal than normal, hence the surcharge.

Our hourly rate is $300 and that is listed on our website.

You did not hire us for this appraisal.

Thank you for your interest in our company.
