This company refused to supply me with payment records from insurance and gap insurance after a car accident so that I could see what was paid and what was left of my loan. Instead they wrote my loan off as a bad debt. A year later I receive a secure email from them only to be told a week later one of their employees accounts was hacked and the email sent by someone not her. They told me my personal information was safe. But today. After a year of hearing nothing from these people I received 2 separate calls from someone claiming to be affiliated with this business but will not speak to me if I verify my personal information. After I reached out they told me that there was no note on my file about someone calling me but that it was probably their lawyers office about my debt they wrote off. However, they can not give me the lawyers name, place of business, address or phone number or tell me how I can contact them to see if that is who called me. They never sent out an email stating they had a system breach and now I believe my info has been leaked due to their negligence.Business Response

We thank ************** for her comments and please find our response below.
1. ************** was furnished a letter on April 13, 2022, which reflected both the insurance and GAP proceeds, along with the balance remaining and a settlement offer, however, she failed to respond.
2. We have not had a security breach and all customer personal information remains safe and secure.
3. Her account was charged off and was recently forwarded to outside counsel for collection.
4. She can contact our office, ask for the legal department, and we will be glad to provide the name and phone number to the firm.

Attached is the letter or charges given to me by the company. My lawyer requested verified funds. Copies of checks/payments. Not a hand written email with amounts listed that could mean anything. This was refused to be given. After several phone calls where I was told I had to pay the full amount that day and was threatened multiple times that if I did not comply they would just close my account. Which they did.
I was told by ******************* that her account was hacked and I was sent that secured email from that hack. There was no communication later to say that the email was not valid.
The number that called me specifically starting their company. When I contacted **** again she said it was the lawyers office they deal with but could not give me any information about that lawyers office. Not the name. Phone number. Representative they use. Or where it was located. As you can see by the screenshots my account was charged off and closed over a year ago. **** told me it should not be closed, but it was. The correlation of getting these phone calls and the breach in their system seems more than coincidental, especially because my account is closed. It does not show in my owed debt.

If ************** will please contact our office, we will be happy to give her the phone number to call so she can pay this deficiency balance. Once it is paid, we will update her trade line to read, "Charge off, paid in full" and report a $00.00 balance.

If automobile acceptance corporation is able to provide me with the original documents my lawyer requested after my accident, to include verified copies of payments received for the balance of my car I am able to reach a conclusion to my complaint. Given how unorganized and unprofessional and down right shady they have been with their business practices, I am not agreeing to just any amount. Also, if they have already charged off my account and sold my debt, wouldnt I be responsible to the debt collection company? They said they no longer hold my debt. It is the inconsistent information and disregard for the fact that they had a breach that compromised my personal information with zero regard for my situation that is the issue. I want consistent and clear information.Business Response

1. We still own this debt. Since we were not able to collect it ourselves, we are allowing outside counsel to do such.
2. If ************** will please contact our office, we will be glad to furnish the requested documents.

I am rejecting this response because: I have not received any of the documents I have requested. I will state what I would like. I would like a copy of my original application with the loan information listed. I would like copies of the statements of payments provided by the insurance company and my gap insurance. I would also like a copy of my gap insurance coverage to know why they did not cover the entirety of my loan. I do not want a hand written email from a representative that was put into an excel sheet. I would like official copies of the documents.
Sincerely,

Automobile Acceptance is a terrible company. I am a 60 year old women who works 2 jobs in order to support myself. I paid off my loan for my 2014 ****** Corolla. However I did have a few deferred payments that I needed to pay. I was mis-lead by one of their assosiates that said to me on a recorded line that they were going to charge off what I owed and I would have a hard time getting my title until the balance was paid . My vehicle was repossed on 3/1/23. I do not undersand how that is leagal. My Name is ***************************** my phone # is ************. I am now being told that unless I pay $3,499.26 my vehicle will be Auctioned off because the loan has matured. This s an outrage I dont understand how a company can do that to me.If there is anything you can do to assist me it would be greatly appreciated. I would like call to be reviewed my vehicle given back to me of course I would be making a payment to satisfy what I oweBusiness Response

************** entered into a valid Retail Installment Contract on 4/2/2016 for a term of 72 months with her final payment coming due on 4/17/22. Due to the extensions she was granted, this pushed her maturity date, or final payment due date, out to 11/17/22. On this date, 11/17/22, the loan matured and the entire balance was due. The last payment ************** made was on 11/18/2022 and we have had no communication with her since 1/4/2023 at which time she promised to pay on 1/15/2023. Due to her lack of communication and the account being matured and payable in full, she left us no choice but to recover the collateral to protect our interest. As we have already discussed with **************, we will work with her to pay this loan in full.Initial Complaint

i have had a car loan with automobile acceptance corporation since july 2021. i have made all payments asked of me. when my payment is going to be late, no more than 30 days EVER, i call the company immediately sometimes multiple times and let them know and make arrangements best i can. since september 2021, we went from a 2 income household to 1 and since december 2021, i have had 2 operations and covid as well as my son having covid. i am now a single parent and my income is the income. dispite all this i have stayed in contact and paid all payments before they are ******************** june 2022, i had fraud on my checking account which reversed 3 bills i paid previously in april 2022. one being my car payment to automobile acceptance corp. i called them immediately and let them know what was happening and that they will get the funds back. my bank did a call with them and myself for over an hour explaining this as well. my bank stated they had never spoken to anyone as rude as the rep we talked to. this company has been demining and rude and no matter who from management down they are in no way understanding or nice. i have now been threatened by an employee that if my oct 16th payment isnt made by oct 30, 2022, they will come and get my car, and yet ive made all payments on this car. i would appreciate some assistance in making my time with them better. they have multiple horrible reviews but threatening someone with their vehicle that is needed is the worst of the worst. i work in customer service for 12 years and would have been fired at my company. treating customers this way is unbelievable!!!! also the fees i was charged in june and july 2022 when the fraud happened(they have record of) need to be removed from account. please get in touch with me with a resolution.Business Response

I have been paying my car payment of 300+ a month since 8/18. Once I was sent my payment information I noticed that 90% of my payment is going solely to interest. So each month the most that was being paid off my balance was $40. The rest of my 300 was applied to the interest. I did not agree to an apr of 90%. My initial due balance in 2018 was 12,890 guesstimate. I've paid over 14,000 thus far. Plus I am behind now and they refuse to accept any payment that is not the total amount. I cannot pay online, I'm locked out. I have also requested this payment history multiple times and the only reason they sent it finally after many requests is because I claimed my lawyer would be in contact. Please see attached. I'm basically being robbed by this company. I decided to look at reviews and it turns out they do this to everyone.Business Response

We thank Ms. Elmore for her comments and please find our response below.
1. The APR on the Retail Installment Contract is 20.00%, not the 90.00% quoted by Ms. Elmore.
2. This is a simple interest loan and the customer is charged interest for only the time they use the money. In her case, using the current loan balance of $8,707.31, and assuming she was making a payment every 30 days, her interest charge would be $143.13 for this 30-day period.
3. Ms. Elmore has had a very sporadic payment history with her last payment being made on 5/27/22 of $900.00 and $675.48 of this was for interest.
4. Her account is currently due for May 21, 2022 and has accrued interest of $563.00.
5. If a customer is paying online, they are required to pay the total amount past due and in this case that is $1,660.00.
6. We have informed Ms. Elmore that she must pay her account current, plus any recovery charges, or surrender the collateral.
Should you need additional information, please advise.
Regards.
