I am writing to formally request your assistance in addressing a matter that I believe constitutes both unethical business practices and unfair treatment. I registered for classes at Knuckle Up Fitness in ********** in early 2019, with a membership fee of $89 per month. However, after a couple of months, I decided to cancel my membership.Despite my efforts to cancel my membership directly at their ********** location, I was met with hostility and rudeness from the staff. On multiple occasions, I visited the gym to complete the cancellation process, only to be met with resistance and claims that the cancellation process was complicated. In response, I filled out a cancellation form and submitted it at the location, fully expecting the matter to be resolved. I ceased using their services entirely after that time. However, despite following their cancellation procedure, I continued to be charged the membership fee for several months. To stop these charges, I contacted my credit card company and requested that future payments be ********** my shock, I subsequently received a collection notice (attached below), demanding payment of $583. I was contacted multiple times by Knuckle Up Fitness and subjected to threatening phone calls, including coercive threats of legal action and jail time if I did not make the payment. Under duress and lacking a full understanding of my legal rights at the time, I reluctantly paid the amount to avoid further ************* the time, I was under the impression that the Better Business Bureau (BBB) would be unable to assist with a case in which payment had already been made. However, I have recently learned that BBB can, in fact, offer assistance to customers who have experienced unjust treatment by businesses within the past 10 years.Given the mishandling of my cancellation, wrongful continuation of charges, and the threatening behavior I endured, I respectfully request your guidance and assistance in resolving this matter.
