I've been working on my 2022 taxes for the last 24hrs. now, and came across a $74.99 charge on my Citibank credit card from, "AWL*PEARSON EDUCATION PRSONCS.COM **", on July 3, 2022.Now, I am a College student, as well as my two children, and I have purchased both hard copy and digital books from Pearson in the Past. However, this charge looked slightly different from the rest wherein the other Pearson charges are indicated as follows on my statements, "Pearsonplus.com ************ **". I asked my husband, usually the one who reviews all CC statements, why didn't he question or dispute said charges. His response was simple. "I thought Pearson was the company where you and the kids rent school books from?" He's absolutely correct!So, I just got off an online chat with the company, Pearson, who could not find any charges for said amount under my account. (please know I have written transcripts of this conversation) In the interim of holding with Pearson as they were conducting their own searches again their database records in order to answer my questions, I googled AWL*PEARSON EDUCATION PRSONCS.COM **, and noticed this may be a fraudulent scam... which has now led me to you.Please further know that I tried to dispute these credit card charges, via Citibank.com, but because of the timeline (7 mos.) Hello, we may have found the fraudulent order but we need verification. The order was placed in July 2022 by ********************************** We would like to know if they are familiar with ********************************* and if so did that person place an order for one of our online course management products. If the customer is not familiar with this person or this person never placed the order we will proceed with the refund. We were charged $91.79 for a textbook for my daughter who is away at college and she never purchased this book. We did not receive a textbook or an e-book nor did we order one. We were fraudulently charged for an item we did not buy.Business Response

On February 11,, 2023, there was a transaction of $74.99 (US funds) or $103.50 (CAD) paid to AWL*PEARSON EDUCATION, PRSONCS.COM, **. I have never ordered anything or done business with this company. The date says PENDING still; the transaction amount is $32.75. The company is a company my college required me to take a course through a year ago. If I try to log into my account NOW there's no area I can go to or check for transactions. I don't understand why I was charged and I didn't authorize the charge. I looked up the business name as it did look familiar: AWL*PEARSON EDUCAT PRSONCS.COM **** - and there have been a plethora of other BBB complaints about these kinds of transactions. I haven't taken college courses since Spring Quarter of 2022, so I definitely did not authorize this transaction.Business Response

Hello,
The customer placed an order for the Developing Management Skills Loose-Leaf textbook on April 16, 2022. That book was out of stock and the order went on backorder. Stock recently became available on January 23, 2023 and the book shipped on tracking number 1Z0E1E980327965324. *** shows that the order was delivered Friday January 27, 2023 but the customer advised us recently that they are no longer at that location. Since they have not received the title I have issued a full refund on credit memo 21012274 in the amount of $32.75. The credit will be applied to the credit card in a few days. If you have any additional issues please let me know.

On May 23, 2022 I purchased a Pearson textbook Human ********************* modified Mastering A&P by ***********************. The format was Digital Perpetual Offline. I ordered this book from ****************************** bookstore. I paid $135.23 plus shipping and tax. I had difficulty accessing the book online. I was unable to print out ANY unmarked pages from the book in violation of the publisher's promise. I needed the book for the fall 2022 semester. Even though I had purchased perpetual access, I was unable to access the book until i paid an additional $21.20 to Pearson in August 2022. I complained to Pearson numerous times. They said they refunded my money to my account. I notified them that I never received any monies. They refused to provide a telephone number and insisted they refunded my money. They never refunded me a dime. I understand that Pearson has a terrible reputation with cheating college students. I am seeking a full refund of $164.54 (****** for the textbook and $21.20 for the "renewal fee". Thank you. Hello We are sorry **** was having issues with their MasteringA&P. We did issue a credit for $21.20 for the eText Renewal on October 18, 2022. I contacted our credit department and they applied the refund to ****'s PayPal account on December 29, 2022. We have also issued additional credit in the amount of $143.35 for the Original Mastering purchase made at their bookstore on December 29, 2022. We are in the process of generating and mailing a refund check directly to the customer. I will email the customer an update once the refund check is ready. I ordered the paper copy of my book on August 21st which was the beginning of my master's course. And I received an email on August 29th that my order has shipped. However, I have contacted *** and they state that they have never received the package and the package only shows that a shipping label was created for the book. I have been trying to get a refund for my book that has not even made it to *** in order to ship for a month. The Pearson customer service has been the worst customer service that I have had to deal with. First they told me that they cannot refund my money because the book has already shipped. Even though I emailed the proof from *** that they did not receive the package all they did was email a return shipping label for a product that was never shipped in the first place. I ordered a book for a college class online from Pearson education, and paid extra for one day delivery. That evening I was informed via email that the book was on back order. After hours of frustrating conversation and emails with their customer service department from some other part of the world it was determined that they could not give me any idea when I might receive the book that I needed for the semester length class. I canceled the order, withdrew from the classes, and moved on with my life. A short-term later I received a notification from my bank for a charge of $101.52 from Pearson education. I had received no contact from Pearson education regarding this charge or the possible delivery of the book I had ordered and canceled. Once again I was in the loop with their out of the country customer service department. I was told they could not cancel the order, it had already been shipped. I told them to remove the charge from my credit card, and I would return the book if and when it arrived. They refused to remove the charge at that time and have refused to remove that charge since that time. This all began back on August 24th, and as of today the $101.52 is still on my credit card. I sent numerous emails to their customer to service department demanding that they remove the charge from my credit card, and it's still on there. I even wrote to their CEO explaining the entire situation. And I filed a dispute with my bank. The book arrived back at their warehouse in ************ ******* on the 13th, and they still have not refunded my money. It had arrived at my house a few days before that, and I handed it directly back to the *** driver who marked it as refused and sent it back to the warehouse. Still no refund.Business Response

Complaint: 18044600I accept the refund part of the response.
But after everything they put me through, the fact that I was forced to withdraw from classes that I really wanted to take, and the fact that it's unknown whether this class will be given again, in person, this business should send me that book free of charge. And of course it's unknown whether I'll have to go through this headache again next semester, if the book is needed for classes that *** or *** not happen. It would be a nice gesture on their part to send the book to me for free at this point.
They put me through a mountain load of stress, refused to refund my money on an unauthorized charge, for a book that was not ordered, unneeded, late and canceled, caused me to drop out of classes I wanted to take, when they could have very easily resolved this back on August 24th and made it possible for me to take the classes that I really wanted to take, so at this point they have done damage to my life and have not suffered at all.
That's Not quite fair.

They cost me for too much stress and problems for them not to give me the book free of charge at this point.
Please let them know, as I will, that I appreciate the response and hopefully will get to use the book if the classes happen next semester.
My fingers are crossed that that will happen come ******* or february.
