In May 2022 I hired attorney ****** ********************** of ********************** Law to represent myself and my sister in a property dispute over inheritance. I paid $150 for a one hour phone consultation and an additional $7,500 retainer when I hired her. The agreement Ms ********************** required me to sign when I hired her, stated I would receive periodic breakdowns of my retainer, however I never did. In December of ***************************************** writing. Over the course of approximately four months I made no less than SEVEN written requests (including certified mail) as well as one verbal. There was also an issue that came up in April 2023 where I was made aware that a Lis Pendens I was told was filed soon after hiring Ms **********************, was not and could not be filed, ten months later due to an issue that I made Ms ********************** aware of in our first conversation. Ten months after hiring Ms ********************** I found out nothing had been filed and it appeared no work had been done in my case and Ms ********************** clearly had no understanding of the details of the case. To this date I have still not received a single breakdown or response to my letters stating I was unhappy with her performance. In April of ***************************************** ********************** regarding the issue of the retainer breakdown as well as the issue that arose when I was informed that nothing had been filed in my case, I had no choice but to fire her as my attorney, which she did not respond to either. After reporting her to the Georgia State Bar, I finally got a response to my termination letter 21 days later, however I have yet to receive my retainer breakdown/final itemized bill, my file or the unearned portion of the retainer from her. I would like a full refund from Ms **********************. She either ignored me when I told her important details about my case or lied to me to get me to hire her in a case with no possibility of winning. She did not file anything on my behalf and acted unprofessionally and unethically and she did not earn my retainer.

    Business Response

    Great afternoon:

We have read ****************** complaint and are troubled by what she'd expressed and how she feels. Unfortunately, though she has made several statements that are undtrue, respectfully--we professionally cannot battle our former client through these means. We are limited by attorney client privilege from disclosing relevant information necessary to dispute and defend ****************** claims. We are further limited since the opposing party, who is also an attorney in ****************** case, has decided to move forward with a suit against her and her sister after receiving notice that we're no longer representing **************. We wish ************** the best as the case will take a lot more patience, resources, and cooperation from her than maybe she'd like. We can say specifically that any communication with **************, would've been prompted only by a pure desire to be responsive to her as we had no knowledge of any bar complaint.

We hope that BBB understands our legal constraints on disclosing sensitive details of this case but seek to avoid further action on our profile. Please let us know what else may be required for BBB to be able to make any assessment so that we can keep our good name.
