I applied for a HELOAN with AmeriSave last month. Even with a Credit Score of 717, we had to pay almost 3 points to get a rate of 9.25%! This $76000 loan was going to cost over $5100.We had to go through allot document requests, (more than the usual), multiple loan disclosures, a BS (ultimately non-refundable) demand for $500 to cover a "lock rate", first no appraisal fee, then an added $550 fee when the loan amount was "conditionally" approved after over 2 weeks of waiting, at finally the same amount requested.I was told that the $500 was refundable, the loan disclosure documents said otherwise. **** ***** than explained that there are only certain circumstances for a refund.I tried to cancel or application ant still received documents to review and sign. I reached out to ****** manger, **** *****, and then a VP, **** ********; to reiterate our intent to cancel our cancellation of our application. I've yet to hear back from either of these two gentlemen.After **** refused to adjust or change some of the fees; I reached out to our ************* We were approved within an hour for the $76000, loan to value did not require an appraisal, and the loan cost was less an $1000.Stay away from AmeriSave.
