On 5/19/2023 I had a scheduled couples massage at Massage Etoile at 8:30 pm EST. I booked the massage over the phone on 5/14/2023 at 2:47 pm. Everything was fine upon arrival, and while getting into the massage room. It wasnt until the massage therapist came into the room when the trouble happened. I had a male employee massaging me, without any warning. As someone who has been thorough assaults, this was traumatic and not relaxing for me. I cried the entire experience. After the massage, I had let them employees know what my concerns were. I had stated they should let individuals know that a male is massaging them ahead of time. And they proceeded to tell me it was my fault and I should have requested a female. And that I could have asked the employees to switch. They additionally said upon booking that it is asked for preference. Which is not true, when booking on the phone, I was never asked whether or not I had a preference. And while in the room, I did not feel safe nor comfortable asking for the employees to switch. As at that point, my body was in fight or flight and I was frozen with panic, along with my head being covered with a towel and I couldnt see a single thing occurring in the room. What really scared me is when my ******* were pulled down a little to get more of my back, as my ******* were already not covering a large surface area. After I tried explaining to them, they repeatedly told me it was my fault and I should have said something. Which is not something that should be said to individuals who go through something traumatic. I had to sit and wait crying while employees and customers stared at me because they wouldnt ring me up and ended up charging me $158 for the services despite how overwhelmed and frustrated I was, which is $20 off from their package. My boyfriend paid as I was upset waiting to leave. Not once did this place think that it could have been something communicated wrong on their behalf.
