What happened on ****** *** * ****, my wife went into Batteries Plus to get the key I ordered. I ordered one and after it came in they said it was the wrong one. So new key comes in and my wife goes up there and price went from 145.00 to 240.00 then my wife’s car starts messing up, all dash lights are staying on and they said that she had to take it to ***** and we would have to pay for repairs. Most likely shorten out the ecm and that’s not cheap. Plus we would be without a car while it getting fixed. So I would stay as far away as possible from letting them do anything to your car.

Next part three days later, first he said he was the store manager and wanted information about what happened on Friday so I told him and then sent invoice from ***** and tow fee. Then same person called back and said he was the owner and could only give me a key and reprogram it. So he wants me to take a 140.00 key over 200.00 bill from ***** dealership and tow fee. He stated getting really rude. Then said he was the owner. So he lied also. So I called corporate to see what can be done. Definitely bad business.

The wrong key was initially ordered by the customer leading to a higher priced keyfob due to the additional functions. The keyfob was cut and programmed sucessfully. The other faults did appear after the programming. Batteries Plus started an attempt to troubleshoot and find a solution. The customer became upset and wanted a $240 refund that was granted. Customer disengaged and refused any additional assistance finding a solution and left driving the vehicle home. Customer then made the choice to tow the vehicle to the dealership without knowledge or consent by Batteries Plus. The following day the Store Manager called after more research to attempt to find the solution. In the follow up investigation, we contacted the software engineers at ******* **** *** *** **** **** and told the keyfob ignition system and other monitoring systems are totally independent from one another and has nothing to do with the other fault light or symptoms. They had never heard of this happening before. We also contacted *** ********** and told that the key programming was not the cause and likely a sensor glitch that occured with by chance at the same time. Likely in an ABS module or rear speed pickup sensor? The decision to leave, tow the car and authorize the dealership rest directly with the customer. Looking at the dealer invoice, they simply disconnected the battery and reconnected to reboot the car computer system and everything was back to normal.

The Manager that the customer spoke with twice is an owner and Store Operations Manager. The conversation started trying to offer finding a solution which first step of rebooting the system by diconnecting the battery. The conversation devolved into the accusations stated in the complaint and a profanity laced lecture by the customer. An unwillingness to refuse help to resolve at every step.

An initial offer was made granting the customer the $240 keyfob that was cut and programmed and still functional but was also refused in an uncivil response with language unfit to publish. The only problem was a system that needed rebooting by disconnecting the battery.

Batteries Plus has always strived to satisfy our customers needs but in this case the customers refusal to accept any assistance to resolve the matter and verbal abuse has resulted in closure.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:we didn’t have any problems with our car before my wife took the car there to get a new key. How would I order a key, I called and told them information about the car and it wasn’t the push to start car. First thing was they tried to program a smart key for a push to start car in which I don’t have. After everything started happening to my wife’s car she started crying in the store and the person that was helping her was being rude to her even when they were trying to figure out what they did wrong. Store manager/ owner was not there. My wife first took her car to ******** ******** ** ***** ** on ********** rd. They plugged there computer into my wife’s car and would not pick up anything. So I called the dealership and they said that it was best not to drive it. So it was towed to them and they worked on it for a few hours and once we told them again what exactly happened they were able to reset everything with her car. So her key and everything had to be reprogrammed to her car. I don’t want to take her car back to batteries plus and then they mess it up again and then I would lose more money by having to take it to the dealership. Luckily someone loaned us a car because ***** had it for about 7 hrs and my boys had soccer games. I just want my money back from the dealership and I will take the lost on the tow fee. But I will not let batteries plus touch it again.

      Sincerely,

      ***** ****
