Based on information from the ******* ********** ** ****** ******** * *******************), I selected Safe Habits Driving School to teach my 16 year old daughter and fulfill the Joshua Law Requirement.
I paid $400 via ****** on March 20th, 2024. I texted back and forth with the owner. He wanted to give lessons during ******* Week *** **** ** ******** **) but we were going to be out of town. On Thursday, March 28th, he texted me the times for classes: Friday March 29th 8am-7pm (a mistake on his part), Saturday March 30th 8am-10am, 2pm-7pm and Sunday March 31st 9am-1pm, 5pm-7pm.
I was not given a choice about these times. I felt it was unreasonable to require two separate lessons on both Saturday and Sunday especially with such short notice. Also, Sunday March 31st was Easter Sunday.
The other issue I discovered is that there is no driving "school". The owner comes to your house and picks your child up. I just felt uncomfortable letting my 16 year old daughter be picked up by an adult who is a complete stranger.
I texted back on March 29th that I was just going to go in a different direction with the driving lessons and requested a refund. The owner stated that there are no refunds.
No where on the website does it state "No Refunds". Also, no where on the website does it state that coming to your house was the only way lessons are given. It only states "Free Student Pick up and Drop Off".
All I am requesting is that the owner refund me the $400 because he has not rendered any services.
Finally, this business is listed in your database at an old address ***** ***** ****** ********* ** *********** but the owner's name (Ashanta G*****) is the same.

    Business Response

    Date: 05/16/2024

Thanks so much for the wonderful opportunity to respond to Mr. ****'s service complaints. We will vigorously respond to the Customer's Statement of the Problem.

We are bonded, licensed & insured through the Georgia Department of Driver Services as a reputable, limited-driving school. What that means is that we operate as a home-based business, but we do not have a brick-and-mortar building, nor are we required to do so, in order to operate our behind-the-wheel driver training program.

We do not offer any classroom training and under no circumstance would a student meet us for training at our home business address.

The customer stated he, "Selected Safe Habits School of Driving to teach his 16-year-old daughter & to fulfill the Joshua's Law Requirement." He then proceeded to pay $400 on ****** (March 20, 2024).

The customer forgot that it was ******* Week in ******** **, which is a great opportunity to schedule most teen drivers who are out of school in both ******** * ******** Counties. He also failed to remember that his family would be on vacation, so we couldn't schedule any driving lessons until they returned. This was NOT a problem as we both agreed to schedule driving lessons that could accommodate his rigorous schedule demands. This service delay in training was a direct result of the customer and we will be providing solid evidence in the form of text messages to substantiate our claim.

I don't know how old the customer is, but in his complaint, he stated, "He didn't have a choice to select the times." This couldn't have been further from the truth and he almost makes it seem as if he can't read. As the schedule he posted implies,

Friday March 29th 8am-7pm (a mistake on his part),

    Saturday March 30th 8am-10am, 2pm-7pm and

    Sunday March 31st 9am-1pm, 5pm-7pm.

We spoke with the customer and provided him with our detailed framework of how we do business, how long each lesson will last (2-hours) & how many lessons we would need to schedule, (5-lessons total). When I sent him the times, he immediately asked, "What are the times for?"

He had the choice to schedule any 2-hour time window that best accommodated both his & his family's schedule. The schedule we sent him showed him the exact time windows that we had available, but looking back on it now, he still doesn't seem to understand it. I've NEVER had this problem with any other customers.

"I felt it was unreasonable to require two separate lessons on both Saturday and Sunday especially with such short notice. Also, Sunday March 31st was Easter Sunday."

There were not 2-separate lessons on Saturday & Sunday. He just didn't understand how to read the schedule. He could've chosen 8AM-10AM on Saturday. Or, he could've chosen 2PM-4PM, 3PM-5PM, or 5PM-7PM. His choices were numerous.

Easter Sunday? Since we live, work & drive in the real-world, some major holidays allow for parents to schedule driving lessons when school is closed and we are flexible to accommodate them.

He then asserts, "The owner comes to your house and picks your child up. I just felt uncomfortable letting my 16 year old daughter be picked up by an adult who is a complete stranger."

This statement further proves how he sabotaged his daughter's driving lessons & went out of his way to delay driving lessons, as we are an honest business delivering amazing service & phenomenal return on each customer's investment. We NEVER had a fair chance to satisfy the customer or teach his daughter the essential fundamentals of driving, staying alive & becoming a crash-free driver for life. Instead, the customer keeps attacking me & blaming me for ineptitude & incompetence.

Please have the customer to explain how a home-based business is going to deliver driving lessons behind-the-wheel. For the record, the customer could've picked any meeting location for us to pick-up his 16-year-old daughter, which is also a plus for parents to meet the driving instructor on a holiday (especially if they are not working).

Lastly, we offer free pickup & drop-off, whereas, other driving schools charge additional fees. The pick-up location can be wherever the student lives, works, goes to church, school or wherever. We are completely flexible & transparent and we have also been in business for 9-years.

This guy was a bad customer who went out of his way to intentionally delay his daughter's driving lessons. One of the main reasons that we will not issue a refund has to do with the many false accusations that he keeps making against us that driving lessons weren't delivered in a timely manner. Since the many countless mistakes that occured during the process were not on our part, I will not be issuing a refund, but would be more than willing to deliver driving lessons and to render service when available.
