On October 6th 2022 I contracted Brooks Remodeling & Renovations to completed a deck project. The cost was to be spread out over 4 installments. The first installment of 15k was to cover the materials for the entire project. Mr. ********************** delivered about ******* worth of materials and partially completed the framing over 4 days. The work completed failed county inspection and the only resolution was to tear down what was done and rebuild. Mr. ********************** asked for additional money to correct his mistakes and when I refused, he ran off with over 13k of my money. I ended up having to pay another company to tear down his work and rebuild to code.

This guy is complaining because he thought his wife like me. As I said he paid for the framing and lied about tearing it down also did not make payment to continue the project

********************** has proven to be a very dishonest contractor.  I'm not sure why he mentioned anything about my wife in his response. She never even met the guy and he only knew I was married because I mentioned it in conversation. Mr. ********************** continues to state that I paid 15k for framing. Even if that were true, which it is not, he never completed the framing.  There is nothing in the written agreement that states 15k for framing. The initial installment, as with most projects was to purchase the materials.  Mr. ********************** partially completed the framing work over the course of four days. On day five the county was called out to do the footing and zoning compliance inspection.  The county inspector noticed that Mr. ********************** failed to remove the siding prior to installing the ledger board so he immediately failed the framing and ordered correction.  In order to qualify for framing complete for inspection,  Mr. ********************** would have had to frame the pergola, gazebo, privacy wall, stair stringers, guardrails and possibly the support posts.  He didn't complete any of that. Mr. ********************** abandoned the job on day 5 when I informed him of the issues.   He later asked for additional money to fix his mistakes and when I refused he never showed up again.  After *********************** decking to demolish his work and rebuild to code.  Attached are pictures of how Mr. ********************** left me with a partially framed  deck supported by 2x4s. You will also see pictures of where West GA decks tore down what Mr. ********************** did, removed the siding and properly flashed behind the ledger.  There is also a picture of how the deck looked when West GA decking declared framing complete.  I was hoping to avoid going to court, but it might be my only option with this guy.  He should not be doing business anyway because his license was dissolved years ago, but he continues to drive around in a van stating he is licensed and insured.
