Absolute Green Landscaping treated my lawn from July 2024 through April 2025. During this time, the technician never suggested improvements to my lawn. I was noticing a difference in its condition late summer 2024, but thought it was due to other factors. I anticipated an improvement once growing season started after the fall and winter treatments. The growing season has started and my turf is severly damaged from improper use of chemicals (product damage) and my yard is full of weeds. I canceled my service on May 3, 2025. The response after receiving my cancellation notice was a question "why are you cancelling?" I replied with a series of photos of my damaged turf. Now, they're attempting to correct the issue and offer unwanted solutions. With proper application of weed and feed chemicals, my lawn would not be in this unacceptable condition. I'm requesting a refund of $416.95. The amount spent from July 2024 - April 2025.

Thank you for reaching out. I'm truly sorry to hear that your lawn hasn't been looking as good as expected. At Absolute Green Landscaping, we always strive to deliver high-quality service, and your satisfaction is very important to us.

As we mentioned in previous emails, we're more than happy to meet you at your propertyfree of chargeto walk through the condition of your lawn with you in person. This allows us to identify more specific factors contributing to the grass decline and provide tailored recommendations to help restore its health.

Looking at pictures of your lawn, weve observed areas of the lawn with exposed **** and rocks, which indicate long-term erosion and soil degradation. Other parts of the yard show signs of general turf stress. As you may know, lawn stress can stem from a combination of factors including:

      Summer heat

      Mower damage

      Low-quality or compacted soil

      Poor drainage

      Shade stress

      Disease

      Insect Damage

      Winter freeze injury

      And other environmental conditions

Each section of the lawn may be affected by different issues, which is why an on-site evaluation is the most effective way to assess the situation and move forward.

Please be assured that all of our treatments are applied using ******************************* (***)-approved products that are safe for turfgrass. Weve reviewed our service notes, photographs, and video footage from our visits, and can confirm that your treatments were performed properly and according to label instructions.

One important way to reduce lawn stress and promote faster recovery is by mowing regularly. We noticed signs of mower damage during the summer of last year. We also sent you an email with mowing recommendations last Summer. The ********************* recommends mowing warm-season grasses at least once or twice per week. Less frequent mowing can cause scalping, which weakens the grass and slows its recoveryeven if it's not the root cause of the damage.

To promote regrowth in sparse areas, we suggest:

Topdressing with a black compost/flower mix to improve soil quality

Transplanting plugs from healthy areas using a tool like the ProPlugger 5-in-1 We're happy to assist with this process during the lawn consultation, if you'd like.

Regarding your concern about weeds: We reviewed our photos from the March visit, and the lawn appeared weed-free at that time. Later, in May, you sent a photo showing broomsedge coming out of its winter dormancy. We actually informed you of this weed in a prior email shortly after you first signed up. At that time, we explained that there are no selective herbicides that will kill broomsedge without harming the grass. Instead, we recommended our manual hand-pulling service, which is effective but time-intensive. We provided a quote for that service, though you declined at the time.

Since we have a clear record of applying professional-grade fertilizer and weed control products properly and on schedule, our recommended next step is to schedule a no-cost site visit and lawn consultation. This will allow us to help diagnose the current grass health issues and give you the best path forward. We can also pull a soil sample test and send that to a laboratory to check for any potential nutrient deficiencies if you would like.

Please feel free to call or email us to schedule a time that works for you.

Thank you again for your time, and let us know if there's anything else we can do to assist.

      Sincerely,
      **** ****

      Complaint: 23386237

I am rejecting this response because:

      1. I've already stated you will not be coming back to home. The damage occurred under your watch so there's no need for me to continue with this company.

      2. I've been in contact with expert professionals in the lawn care field that came to my home and assessed my lawn. They communicated my lawn was damaged last season (which was the season this company was servicing my lawn) and has not been able to recover.

      3. There are no rocks and **** in my lawn. If you're referring to a few pebbles in my backyard close to the flower beds, those are not permanently in the lawn. The mowing company generally blows them in the grass and I pick them up and place them back in the flower bed.  Additionally, the rocks by the fence are not in the grass.

      4. My lawn is now beginning to thrive after hiring another lawn care company. It's only been a few weeks. This company treated my lawn for 12 months and my grass did not thrive.

      5. My lawn was in poor, damage condition in March and April before the heating season so using heat or sun damage as an excuse is unacceptable.

      6. The only only remedy at this time is a refund.

      Sincerely,

Thank you for reaching out again. Were always happy to help in any way we can.

As previously mentioned, the most effective way to evaluate your lawns condition and assist in its recovery would be to meet with you on-site, free of charge. This would allow us to directly assess the turf, soil, and environmental factors contributing to the decline. Our soil sample laboratory test would also be highly recommended and could provide valuable insights.
Were happy to hear that your lawn is beginning to flourish. This improvement is expected during this time of year, as your grass emerges from dormancy and resumes active growth. The consistent rainfall weve experienced this summer has also contributed significantly to the lawns green-up.

Delayed spring green-up is a common result of turf stress from the previous summer and/or harsh winter conditions. Our assessment, which aligns with the other companys observation, is that your lawn was under stress in the summer of 2024 and earlier. Prior to you starting services with us. We documented these issues last year when we started services with your and provided guidance via email on proper mowing and watering, including recommendations to mow your lawn at least once per week. We mentioned that cutting the grass less frequently would cause more summer stress. Unfortunately, our observations and your own communication to us via email indicated that mowing frequency was less often than recommended for your grass type.

Looking at a picture of your lawn that we took during our first visit to your home, I can see that the lawn was stressed prior to our services. It was thinning out in areas, had ***** spots throughout, and generally less green than the neighbors lawn. We could see the harsh mower line where it transitioned from your neighbors darker green grass to your lighter green grass but we could also see tall grass sections indicating that your lawn was not recently cut.  Looking at satellite images from 2022 (2 years prior to us servicing your lawn), I can see stressed and balding areas in the front and back lawn. All indicating poor maintenance has been causing stress in the lawn prior to us servicing your lawn. Accumulating to a lawn that declines year after year.  Especially after the winter freeze from last winter.  Further adding to the stress. I have attached these images.

To clarify: the stress in your lawn was not caused by our products. We know this because all of the products that were applied to your lawn are EPA-labeled as turf-safe and were used in accordance with their label instructions. We have video recordings of our services at your home to prove proper applications. Since your service began in the second half of the growing season, most of our treatments occurred during the winter dormancy when grass is not actively growingand therefore not susceptible to chemical burning. If any product were to cause burning during the growing season, it would have resulted in immediate visible damage (bright ******** within a few days). Neither our technicians nor you reported any such symptoms. Our pictures of the lawn do not show signs of chemical burns. Our internal documentation, including technician notes, product rate logs, service photos, and video footage of each visit confirm that the products were applied properly.

Its also important to note that no credible lawn care expert would definitively conclude chemical damage without first knowing which products were used and how they were applied, or performing lab testing. Proper diagnosis requires a thorough evaluationincluding a lab-based soil or tissue analysiswhich has not been presented.  Their evaluation did not even include asking us which products were applied and cannot be considered credible.

Regarding the comment about exposed rocks and ***** this may not have been apparent at a glance, but we have documented areas of soil erosion and exposed subsoil in your lawn. Weve attached a photo for your reference. This highlights the value of conducting a joint walkthrough with us, as issues like these are best pointed out to you in person.

Although we understand you've chosen to move forward with another provider, we would like to point out that your lawn was weed-free throughout the winter and at the time of our final visit in March, which demonstrates the effectiveness of our treatments. I have attached a picture of the lawn during our final treatment.  Unfortunately, you cancelled our services before we could apply the spring fertilizer applications that promote spring green up and summer growth.

We respectfully maintain that we fulfilled all services as agreed, followed industry best practices, and used only safe, professional-grade products. You hired us to apply fertilizer and weed control to your lawn, and we did so reliably and professionally. We also provided advice on how to reduce summer stress, but unfortunately, our recommendations were not fully followed.

If further clarification or assistance is needed, we remain available and happy to help.

      Sincerely,

      Absolute Green Landscaping

      Complaint: 23386237

I am rejecting this response because:

1.Most people hire weed and feed lawn companies because their lawns is stressed and needs improvement. I havent met a homeowner whose lawn was perfect, and they made a conscious decision under these circumstances to hire a weed and lawn company.
2.Your company, Absolute Green Landscaping, was hired in June 2024 and the first payment was processed on July 15, 2024. If you are a reputable company and have knowledge of treating lawns, after hiring, my lawn should have showed signs of improvement early in the process, instead it gradually declined. My lawn deteriorated under your watch.  Additionally, its interesting that you have a lot to say through this BBB complaint, but in the 9 10 months of servicing my lawn, the technicians or you never said one word to me regarding my lawn conditions. I monitored it. The invoices never had recommendations or areas of improvements, but in this BBB complaint, you have a lot to say. Also, I noticed some other homeowners reported similar issues on various social media review websites. That tells me the issue isnt the homeowners lawn condition its YOUR companys lack of training, transparency and knowledge.
3.If the stress from my lawn wasnt caused by your product, its noticeable now that *** hired another company, my lawn is improving. My lawn declined during your 9-10 of treatments, but after one or two treatments from the new company, my lawn is showing signs of positive progression.
4.Its possible to assess lawns and determine product damage, weather/sun damage, mowing damage or any other type of damage. The key is training and knowledge, so maybe your company as I stated previously lacks this level of skills.
5.The lawn was weed free in the winter because dormancy occurred. Weeds and Grass are DORMANT in the winter. This comment tells me Absolute Green Landscaping, specifically you do not have a high level of knowledge about lawns. Most lawns are brown during the winter months.
**** is apparent Absolute Green Landscaping will not take accountability for the condition of my lawn during the 9 10 months of treatments. My lawn declined. I am not reviewing photos of my lawn that I provided to you. I watched your technicians during each service and not one took pics of my lawn, but a few weeks ago, I emailed roughly ***** pics to illustrate the condition, so to use my pics to prove your points is unethical and shows a tremendous lack of integrity.

      Sincerely,

      ****** ****
