    Storage unit was broken into twice in a 6 month period, in which roughly $3600 worth of firearms were stolen. The unit has a camera that does not work for a vital section of the property where a fence has obvious signs of tampering and the business has done nothing to rectify these problems.

    This is the storage place and uhaul responding back to the complaint submitted on 8/7/2024 and was assigned an ID of ********. Attached I have the customers rental agreement that he signed and notes from the account. The customer did not purchase any insurance from us and on page 3 of the rental agreement option 3 customer initialed the block waiving any insurance liability on the facility and would make him a self-insurer of his property. Customer notified us of the first break-in I told the customer to call the police and make a report. The customer and I went to his unit to look to see how it was broken into. The customer lock was still on the unit and was not cut or tampered with also the customer had given access to friends to go in his unit. The second break-in customer did not notify us of the incident until a week later, in the same scenario no cut lock or any evidence of being tampered with, the customer did say he called the police about the second incident. The unit is inside of the building and has seven other 5 by 5 units along with his unit no other units were touched besides the customer unit.

    We furnished BBB with copy of Rental Agreement that states we are not responsible for any losses and insurance was offered at the time of rental to the customer.  We also furnished our notes from his account that documented all phone calls and in person conversations.In these notes it was stated that lock had not been tampered with.  Customer was given copy of Rental Agreement upon move-in and another copy was given to him after first break-in, at his request. If this information is not satisfactory to customer, we would welcome mediation.
