Went to ********* for IWFF. I waited in line approached the front of the line and ordered what I wanted. They had a sign saying they were accepting cash and cards. So I ordered and paid my total for a 8oz cup of wine and a water was $13.20. So the girl say its $13.20, so like $14. So I start to get cash out and Im looking for coin change just to get rid of it and I didnt have it so I gave her $14. Im standing there waiting for my change and she asks if I got my water I said no she then handed me a water I still stand there and she said you can get your wine over there and then I ask for change. She then says oh I dont have change to give you. And I tell her I want my change. I said so youre gonna steal my money thats not right and she said in a snarky voice and I quote weve been doing it all weekend. I just look at her and say so youve been stealing peoples money all weekend as I walk away and she rolls her eyes at me. How does a business hire someone like that and steal peoples money. Its not about the 80 cents. I would have been so more than willing to tip and even more but after that happened never again. How dare you take peoples hard worked money with out asking like that and then act like that. If you didnt have change to give you should have made that VERY CLEAR! Had that on the sign or had some one tell people if they were about to pay cash that they dont have change. You dont just take peoples money and then give them attitude for taking their money. If you had people who knew what they were doing the girl should have simply said oh Im so sorry I dont have change I can either refund you and you can pay with card or here is a $1 back the 20cents is on us since we dont have proper change to give you thats on us. A 20 cent loss is a lot less worse for you guys then ruining your relationship with loyal customers. But anyone whose been a manager would know this so clearly this blond girl doesnt know anything and needs to be retrained.

Went to the Social Goat Tavern on 5/5/23,. They were having a cover band and advertised on their FB that its $10. However when we got there, they said it was $20. We showed them where it was posted online, but they didnt care. As we were meeting friends, we had to pay $40 to get in, rather than the $20 we were expecting to pay. When we got upstairs, there werent any servers, and there were signs up everywhere saying you had to order your food:drinks at the counter. However, on our bill they tacked on an automatic 20% upstairs gratuity fee, just for being upstairs. There were no signs indicating this, and we werent told when we ordered, so everyone found out when they got their bills. In the meantime, we had all been tipping the employees at the counter/bar in cash. Also, when looking at the bill, they charged ** additional charges on drinks we ordered, but we have no idea why. (Ex: $9.50 for an $8 *********)In total, we spent over $150 dollars that night. At first we paid in cash, not realizing what they were doing, because they didnt give receipts. They asked us to open a tab, so we did, and thats how we found all this out at the end of the night, because I asked for my credit card receipt . They did the same to the rest of our friends, so my guess is they did it to everyone.

    Business Response

    Date: 05/09/2023

************************* was a customer at my restaurant ********************** on Friday May 5, 2023. Upon arrival before entering the venue the customer asked to speak with a manager regarding the Band cover charge that was being charged that evening. The Band charged the restaurant $2500 (plus food and drinks), therefore as a small business that only seats about 125 people in the venue, the cover charge was advertised as $20 per person (see attached pic). As the owner, I spoke with *****************. The guest pointed out an old post from ******** where in the detail description of the event stated the cover charge was going to be $10. I explained to the guest that we were unaware of the post and that it was made by an ex-employee. At that time, I offered to meet her in the middle stating I would give her $5 off of the door charge.  She accepted the offer, paid the cover charge of $15, and eventually went upstairs.  If the customer was still unhappy with the cover charge amount, she had the opportunity to not pay that amount and not enter the venue, however she voluntarily paid to enter. The customer did not speak to a manager or myself again since prior to entering. Therefore, I assumed that the customer was satisfied with the attempt I had made to make it right.

As far as the counter service and gratuity charge is concerned, this was put in place to reduce customer wait times and increase their experience. There is still a service being provided such as preparing drinks, stocking sauces and silverware, taking orders, and cleaning up. The 20% gratuity goes directly to employees to help staff and retain employees in an era where it is very difficult to find employees. There are several signs posted throughout the restaurant to inform guests of the charges BEFORE they order. I have attached photos of the signage and the guest ordering. I also have also attached a signed receipt from the ***************** where she acknowledged and agreed to the total and gratuity charges.

The customer has blasted my business on ******* social media sites and now the BBB. I have provided the customer with my cell through ********************** media and attempted on multiple occasions to satisfy the customer. She has yet to reach out to me so that I may do that. I am simply a small business owner trying to provide and excellent restaurant and place for entertainment in my community. I am not making millions or intending to hurt customers. However, in this instance, the policies and prices were posted, yet the customer voluntarily chose to attend and pay the posted prices. She has also refused to reach out to us directly so that we could make an attempt to satisfy her. At this time, I feel that the customer has directly hurt my business over her own voluntary choices.
